Colorful butterflies

Hello eyelet outlet guests!  I had these lovely outline butterfly stickers from Elizabeth craft designs that I placed on white glitter cardstock and then colored them with my Copic Markers, cut them out and placed them on a outline tri-frame flower design I cut from my Silhouette machine.

Next came the fun part by adding Swirl Bling - Pearl in Cream, the sticky back round jewels in black in the centers of the flowers on the frame and finally cut off two small pearls from the 500 count Pearl Bling strips to accent my sentiment.

The swirl bling comes in a variety of colors and add movement, grace and beauty to any project, they are a must have in my stash of paper crafting supplies.

I hope you all had a great summer and I look forward to seeing you back here during the month of September where I will be highlighting showstopping box cards using a variety of eyelet outlet brads, bling, and baubles!  See you soon!

Lots (and Lots!) of Layers

There's nothing more impressive to me (Lauren) than really well-done miminalist design, but sometimes it's fun to go a little crazy and really pile on the layers... and the Eyelet Outlet goodies! For this card I started with a vintage dictionary page and added layers of stenciling, stamping and doodling. The focal point is a Solid Color Paper Flower, to which I've added a little ink and even more doodling. Since the flower packets contain three sizes, they look even better when you layer them; and a Pink Flower Jewel makes the perfect center.

To anchor the flower and direct the eye to it even more quickly, I decided to add a diecut flourish made from Glitter Black Washi. Since Glitter Washi comes in a bunch of gorgeous, sparkly shades, and some patterned varieties, as well, it's great for making all sorts of accents. For this flourish, I covered a scrap of medium weight cardstock with neat strips of tape, then diecut as usual.

One of my stenciled patterns had some little circles that were exactly the same size as the smallest Black Enamel Dots in the packet, so of course I had to add a few of those. Inked edges and a folded glossy black cardbase later, my maximalist masterpiece was complete.

I hope you'll be inspired to experiment with a few extra layers in your next card creation!

Hey, I'm Lauren, and yeah...
I have a thing about LAYERS!

Vintage Faux Camera Mini Book

I wanted to make a fun little mini book that was full of red, France, and had a vintage theme.  As it progressed it actually started to look like a vintage camera.  How fun!!!

Here is the video tutorial on how I made this fun book.

Here are some up close pictures of this fun little mini book.

To add that little bit of extra glam and bling I added in some Eyelet Outlet sticky back bling.

It is so easy to create when you have a simple color scheme.  Mine was red and black, with hints of gold, bronze, creme, and white which are all neutral colors.  You could easily add pictures in place of some of the little card to make this a brag book or a micro vacation book.  The ideas are endless!!

Be Yourself!

Hi everyone!

Summer is coming to a close, school is starting, and cooler weather is just around the corner!  On FaceBook I've seen lots of back to school photos of children from pre-school through college, their mothers all marveling at the difference just one year makes!

Sometimes change is easy to embrace, and other times it takes a little encouragement!  The butterfly is a beautiful symbol of transformation that makes a great accompaniment to a variety of sentiments that fit all sorts of occasions!

I love the surprise of cards that transform too!  This one has a sentiment panel that unfolds to reveal an accordion of butterflies and moths, including black and white butterfly brads (twelve to a package, six each of two designs), and 15 mm wide butterfly music washi tape.

The graph paper design on the inside makes writing straight a whole lot easier!

Wishing you and your children courage and confidence to be your authentic selves each and every day!

Washi Tape Sunburst Technique

Good Morning everyone and welcome to Eyeletoutlet Blog spot Barry here to show you how to create a card using the sunburst technique with Eyelet Outlet glitter washi tape!
It is surprisingly simple so let’s begin:

Step 1:  Choose your washi tape, for my example I have used several different colors of glitter or pattern washi tape.

Step 2:  Cut 10 or 12 - 1” wide strips of scrap paper about 6” long that will make up the ‘beams’ of the sun (you can vary the width and length depending on your design).  My examples are 1” wide by 3” long as I cut them in half.

Step 3:  Adhere the washi tape in strips to cover the strips of the scrap paper. It will usually take two strips of washi tape to cover a 1” strip.

Step 4: Cut each strip diagonally from corner to corner, wider at one end and thinner or to a point at the other end.

Step 5:  Decide where you want your sun burst to “originate” or where you want all the points to meet.  For my example I choose to place it in the center portion of my card.

Step 6:  Adhere the rays to the background cardstock or card front placing the points or thinnest portion of your strips at your determined originate point.  Let the strips hang off the edge of your paper and then trim the edges when you are finished with your design.

Step 7:  Use a stamped image or embellishment as your focal point where all the beams seem to originate from.  For added bling to my sentiment I added stripes of the Jewel bling strips in Champagne. Be creative and have fun!

Thank you for stopping by today to learn how you can make a very sparkly burst of color on your cards using the sunburst technique and lots of glitter washi tape!

Getting Ready for Halloween!

Facebook is full of back to school pictures. Soon enough we will be seeing pix of Halloween costumes, treats, and parties.  Get a head start on this year's scrapbook pages by using EZ Laser Designs as the foundation. Then pile on the embellishments from the Eyelet Outlet.
All that you need are the photographs!

I love glitter washi tape! It doesn't flake off at all!!
Aren't those spiders great?

Party 'Til the Cows Come Home

Today I'm having fun with the very realistic chicken brads.

I started with a fun little farmyard scene where the animals are planning a party (stamps are from My Favorite Things The Whole Herd).

Looks like they'll be having a good time.

Next I added some chickens to another die-cut barnyard scene.

One trick I use when I want the paper to lay flat without the brad legs underneath the paper ... I snip the brad pieces off the back and use part of a 3-D glue dot to attach my chickens for a bit of dimension.

I finished with a few white enamel dots on the center of the flowers.
