Easter Basket Shadow Box Card

Hello everyone!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards, happy to be here with you today.

I have a real fondness for cards which are mostly white with a pop of color!  That's what I made for you today using the Colored Egg Brads.

When there's very little color other than the focal pieces, it really lets them do all the talking.  The colors on these brads are so vibrant, they're actually singing!  I think it's, "Here Comes Peter Cottontail".

The card base was made with my Silhouette Cameo.  It's layered for a shadow box effect, attached with mounting tape.  Let me show you what that looks like from the side.

The layers really allow for the basket to stand out.  I cut the basket base from some bits of scrap card stock  and embossed it with one of my favorite embossing folders, Square Lattice.  I cut a bow to match one of the eggs.  When I placed my basket on top of the eggs (with dimensionals), there was a bit of a gap between the top of the basket and the bottom of the eggs.  I remedied that by creating  "grass" using some scrap to match another egg and cutting it with fringe scissors and crimping it.  Here's a closer look at the basket:

Don't those eggs catch the light beautifully?  As you can see, I placed a piece of patterned paper scrap behind the first layer to match another of the eggs.  I cut the little bunny from some Fuzzy Paper.  Just that bit of texture plus the top frame, also embossed with the Square Lattice embossing folder, are all that's needed to showcase that basket off beautifully.

I didn't think of doing it, but I bet you could further decorate the eggs with alcohol markers.  I'm going to have to try that!

I kept the inside of the card simple; using the embossed top frame again with a smaller rectangle inside with a cut file, turned into print only.

I sure hope you're enjoying my Eyelet Outlet design team posts as much as I am enjoying bringing them to you.  See you soon with another fun project.  In the meantime, don't forget to check out the Deal of the Day (and all the other goodies, too).

A Happy Mother's Day Gift Set

Hello Everyone,

Today I'm sharing A Happy Mother's Day gift box and card with you all using some of our washi tape and jewel bling.

For this gift box I cut strips of cardstock and then taped both sides with this gorgeous Blue Glitter Washi Tape

On the card I just had to add some bling so I used our beautiful Champagne Jewel Bling and Blue Jewel Bling to give the card some sparkle

Anthropomorphism

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human traits, emotions and intentions to non-human entities.

It is a theme you see often in the stamping world ... animals do all sort of human-like behaviors ... like dress in classy clothes for instance.

I love this Fox & Friends Wide Washi Tape ... especially that dapper argyle vest.

You get more translucent colors when you attach it to white cardstock.

You get a different effect when you use it on grey cardstock ... a bit more muted.

I couldn't resist pairing the Fox & Friends with this fun goat from Tim Holtz Hipster stamp set.  I'm sure it would be one heckuva party with this animal crew.  I added a strip of pearls to pull out the teal hues a bit more and added a pop of color to his tie with colored pencil.

I think the tape on this light green cardstock is my favorite ... the colors seem to pop a bit more.

The washi tape critters pair so perfectly with this sassy ostrich ... she was colored with Spectrum Noir Markers.

Baby Train......

I'm going to be a Great Grandma in June!!! so for my project today I made a generic baby shower card with the cutest baby animal brads from the Eyelet Outlet There are new Spring brads in the store now and lots more to look at.

I used a generic train die and it came with animals on it but I snipped them off and added the super cute baby animal brads. The wheels looked a tad plain so I added sticky back enamel dots also from the Eyelet Outlet store.

Close up of the Hippo and Giraffe along with the dots and a strip of skinny glitter washi tape to replicate a train track.

Close up of the Elephant and the Lion.

Couldn't resist adding a quartet of shiny yellow heart enamel dots.

Accessories from the Eyelet Outlet & Brads Store I used you can find these and lots more at the store.

Have an awesome day!!!

Shore Thing

Having spent most of a cold winter dreaming about Spring, now that it's finally here, I (Lauren) have started dreaming about... you guessed it: SUMMER! And nothing captures summer in New Jersey better than going "down the shore". At least some of my current obsession is due to the brand new Eyelet Outlet Sandcastle Brads, which have just arrived in the store! Not only are they completely adorable, they pair so beautifully with our many other beach-themed brads. So I used quite a few styles!

I started by making a "Beach in a Jar" with layers of paper to act as sky, sea and sand. Then I broke out the brads: The Sandcastle was  a no-brainer, but I was surprised how cute it looked next to a Tall Palm Tree. Obviously I needed a Sun Brad, and it made sense for a Seagull to be flying overhead.

I planned to use some Shell Brads in the foreground, but only noticed midway through that I had run out of those. Sea Shore Brads are equally awesome, but too big in scale next to the castle. The shells in the Shell Corner Brads were the right size, but there were too many in a cluster. I was getting ready to just do without small shells when it occurred to me to wonder how hard it would be to trim down one of the Shell Corner Brads. As it turns out, not hard at all! A couple of snips with my stout craft nippers on the side away from the brad's legs, and I had a perfectly sized sand dollar and starfish which could be attached just like any other brad!

I was planning to add the word "Aloha" to my card in un-adorned cardstock letter stickers, when I started thinking that the tall "l" and "h" would be much more fun with a Palm Tree on each. The Shell Corners were still on my table, and I couldn't help but notice how closely their size and shape echoed the "a's" of this alphabet. At that point, I figured I couldn't leave the "o" just plain, so obviously I had to break out the other style of Seagull Brad! A little bit of white tape from the Pastel Skinny Washi Set and some Glitter Gold Tape set off the sentiment panel just that a tiny bit more.

Maybe this card isn't quiiiiiiiite as much fun as a beach vacation, but I hope it will be a welcome addition to someone's mailbox while we're all still daydreaming about those happy summer days to come!

Easter Box Card

Hey Everyone!
Nancy here, with a cute little box card to share with you!

Easter is just around the corner and Eyelet Outlet has all the bling you need to decorate your cards.  Love the pearl bling in centre of the flowers, looks so pretty.

Used brads and an eyelet flower on this cute little bushel.
Have you tried these quicklet eyelets yet?  They are so easy to use, no special tools
 needed,  just a pen!

Used clear edge purple bling on the sides of the box card.
