Design Team Monday with Kerry

Hello Eyelet Outlet friends!  Kerry here, Halloween is right around the corner.
I want to share a couple fun Halloween cards.

First up, got to love this funny guy!  Since watercolor is the crazes now, I decided to join the fun and create a watercolor background.

I also use the glitter washi tape to create glitter paper.

And I had so much fun, I had to make another one using the green glitter tape. ;)

Layouts on Friday with Rosandra

Hello Eyelet Outlet fans. Rosandra here with something different this week. Normally I do a lot of scrapbook layouts using brads, blings, and washi tape. Today I wanted to show you ways to use it in mixed media. This is my art journal and I free handed the tree, then added the cut jewels and swirl bling to add whimsy to an otherwise plain drawing. I love it, because it doesn't add too much texture to the page that I can't close my journal. (To ensure the bling doesn't come off you can use some multi matte medium to seal it on the page.) Another favorite I like to add to my art journal pages is washi tape. Since it's thin and most are pretty transparent it adds another interesting layer to my background for the page.

Design Team Wednesday with Annette

Hello Eyelet Outlet fans! Annette here with a couple of cards for you. Shaker cards are all the rage these days. Most cardmakers use sequins, beads or small die cut pieces in their shakers, but I figured out a way to use brads and enamel dots, too! In the whimsical card below.
  • I first created a banner-shaped tag by cutting out two pieces of clear acetate.
  • I sewed the sides and bottom together, but left the top open.
  • Next, I sprinkled baby powder on some enamel dots to lose their stickiness before putting them in the tag.
  • Then I clipped the prongs off the brads and stuffed them into the tag as well.
  • Finally, I sewed the top part of the tag closed to keep all the little pieces inside.
  • I finished it off by punching a hole at the top and putting some matching ribbon on it.

Products used are:
For my second project, I made a masculine card using the new compass brads. I also used the gold stars and arrows to embellish the card and add more interest.

Thanks for visiting. I hope I've inspired you to create something new with Eyelet Outlet products!

Here's my fun technique for the day. Create your own eye balls using white brads and small bling from Eyelet Outlet. I didn't have any eyeball brads left so I created my own. This card is filled with techniques. I used the leaf brad to create wings for my owl. I think he's ready to take flight.

Design Team Wednesday with Susie

Welcome Eyelet Outlet Fans!
Susie here with two new fall projects for you.

First I thought I'd make a Halloween tag.  You can't really tell from the picture, but it is dimensional so that the spider web stands out from the back.  I dressed up my raccoon with his very own witch hat brad and I have him holding a pumpkin brad.  I think he is ready to party!

Next up my panda is lounging in a sea of fall pumpkins.  I layered my pumpkin brads ever so slightly for some dimension.  It is easy to do and really made the scene come alive!  That's it for now, but be sure to stay tuned here at the blog.

We will be back with more inspiration before you know it!
If you have a chance,

I would love for you to visit me at The Dies Have It.

What are you serving up for holiday dinners?
Here is a favorite cranberry salad recipe that everyone requests!
Ken's Cranberry Salad
(Otherwise known as Festive Cranberry-Pineapple Salad)

Ingredients:1 can (20 oz.) Crushed Pineapple, undrained2 pkg. (4-serving size) or1 pkg. (8-serving size) cherry or raspberry flavor gelatin (I use raspberry.)1 can (16 oz.) whole berry cranberry sauce1 medium Fuji Apple, chopped2/3 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

1.  Drain pineapple, reserve juice. Remove 1 tbsp. crushed pineapple; set aside for garnish. In medium saucepan combine reserved juice with water to make 3 cups; heat to boiling. Add gelatin: stir at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in cranberry sauce. Pour into large bowl. Refrigerate 1-1/2 hours or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites).

2.  Stir in remaining pineapple, apple and walnuts; stir gently until well blended. Pour into medium serving bowl.

3.  Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm. Garnish with reserved crushed pineapple and additional apple slices just before serving. Store leftover gelatin in refrigerator.
