Vintage Sewing

A few weeks ago, as a friend and I wandered through a vintage thrift store, I found a Sewing Pattern Book from the 70s.  Oh the hours I spent thumbing through pages just like these trying to find things for my Mom and my Grandma to make for me.

I used some one of the vintage illustrations together with Eyelet Outlet Thread Brads & Sewing Tape Washi.  I remember going through all of the rolls of thread trying to find the perfect match for my fabric.

I also incorporated a vintage sewing machine and a clear sticker sentiment.

If you or someone you love likes sewing, thread brads are the perfect embellishment.

No One on Earth will Love You More

Puppy cards are always good to have in your stash for the dog lovers in your life.

This one combines a scrapbook journaling card with that cute Dog Brad that fit perfectly inside the *O*.  I also added some Wide Postage Washi Tape and Yellow Enamel Heart stickers to finish the design.

For my second card, I used the Pink Enamel Heart stickers together with another cute Dog Brad (there are four different designs in the package).  The Brown Measuring Tape Washi was layered slightly on top of the Wide Brick Washi Tape (love how they look together).

Puppy Love

I love using journaling cards from scrapbooking paper for card making.  The size is perfect to embellish with lots of Eyelet Outlet Products.

My first card combines Measuring Tape Washi, Champagne Jewels & of course ... some Dog Brads.

I'm also joining Cute Card Thursday (because seriously, what are cuter than these puppies) where they're creating with embossing (you can still see a little of the embossed cardstock background)

Wide Postage Washi Tape and more cute Dog Brads using a sketch from TGIF Challenges.

Remember to check out those 12" scrapbook papers for fun journaling cards for your card making.

Fashionista!

Hello again and happy Friday!  I hope you're gearing up for an exceptional weekend, and for my American friends, a nice long Memorial Day holiday as we pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom.

I'm back with another card-upon-request, this one for a fashion school graduate.  I think this vintage kraft, red, black and ivory is one of my favorite color schemes!  My friend asked for a dress form image and some toile paper or fabric, and with that as a starting point, this is what I came up with.

In addition to fabric, fitting a pattern requires a measuring tape, some straight pins and scissors, a spool of thread and some machine stitching.  Once the garment is completed, it is tagged and hung on a rack...you can see the thought process behind the choices for this particular design and these embellishments.  :)

Since I used to make most of my own clothes, I really LOVED making this project!  It was a lot of fun!  I was pleased with the way it turned out, and I hope you like it, too!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
