Happy Halloween!

I hope this last day of October finds you well and that it holds many more treats than tricks! I (Lauren) couldn't resist making just one more Halloween card featuring my favorite Eyelet Outlet Bat Brads:

I remember making this fun forest background as part of a make and take at the anniversary party of my favorite papercrafting store, Paper Anthology: proud stockist of Eyelet Outlet bling and brads... including bats! It was part of an amazingly lovely Christmas card design, but to me it also looked a bit haunted; so I asked if I could make a second one to save for Halloween. To finish it off in suitably spooky fashion, I added a super-shimmery moon made by combining Ken Oliver Crafts' Watercolor Pigment Powder (in Gamboge) with Pearl Liquid Sparkle. I attached the adorable Bat Brads and made them more mysterious by letting them peek out from behind some punched clouds.

Happy Haunting to everyone celebrating Halloween! ♥♥♥

wishes it would become A Thing
for grownups to dress up and go Trick-or-Treating!

One North Pole Lane

Hi folks.  It's Kim from Katydid Cards.

Looks like we caught Santa and Mrs. Claus home at One North Pole Lane.  Despite how busy they are this time of year, they took the time to give us a friendly greeting.

This box card, made using a cut file from the Silhouette store, features the new Santa and Mrs. Claus and Wreath brads as well as some tried and true brads, the Holly, Snowflake and Pine Tree.  In addition, there's some Jewel Bling as well as Holly and Brick Washi Tape.  In short, this house is ALL decked out!

Here's a look at the box card from either side, so you can see where I placed the snowflakes and the tree.

And here's the back of the card with a greeting from Santa and Mrs. Claus, themselves!

I hope you're enjoying the Christmas cards we've been sharing with you using Eyelet Outlet products.  There are still more to come, so please visit again.

Life Would Suck Without You

I love - really really love - the adorable little vacuum sweeper brad in the new release of brads at Eyelet Outlet! It's just about the cutest vacuum ever - not that I'm an expert of vacuum sweepers. Sheesh! My floors can attest to that. D-I-R-T-Y floors prevail at my house. But I digress.

Just look at those brads - the vacuum and the broom are both so cute! (Wouldn't the broom be fun with a witch-themed Halloween card?!?!?!)

For. another. day. Today, it's all about the vacuum sweeper.

I used the life sucks without you stamps from my Sunny Studio That Sucks stamp set because I thought they were a funny way to use that awesome brad.

Now... not only do I love the brad, I also love Washi Tape! It is such a versatile item. For instance look at this card. Do you see the Washi Tape on it? Of course, you do... it's all the red on the panel behind the tag. That's really a piece of black and white striped designer paper but I wanted color on it, so I added strips of skinny washi tape.

The Skinny Washi Tape actually fit perfectly on the white space of that striped designer paper, but I offset it a little so I could see a wee bit of the white, just because I liked that look better.

Now if Eyelet Outlet would just come out with a little Maid Brad that could use that Vacuum. I'd buy it for sure and have it vacuum my floors for me. Anybody else think that's a good idea???

Another good idea would be if you'd head over to the Eyelet Outlet online store and check out all of the goodies there.

Gingerbread House

Hi!  It's Kim with Katydid Cards.

I love working with Eyelet Outlet products, but I tend to use Enamel Dots less frequently than the other goodies.  I didn't want these cute little dots to feel left out, so my card today uses Enamels Dots from several different color combo packages.

I used the Gingerbread House cut file from the Yuletide Box Card SVG Kit.  I made another card from this kit.  You can find it here if you missed it.

The dots fit perfectly in the lattice on the front of the house and randomly on the bric-a-brac.  The white dots on white reminds me of sugar glaze.  In addition to the dots, there's a single Black Pearl used as the doorknob.

Here's another look at the house from the side, so you can see the layers.

On the reverse, I used a sentiment from Stampin' Up's old My Digital Studio days.  I color matched several keywords to the dots.

Stay tuned for another card all about houses using another new Eyelet Outlet brad for the holidays and winter season.

BeLEAF in Yourself

Good Thursday morning, crafters!  I'm sure enjoying the cooler temperatures lately!  Fall foliage isn't quite as magnificent here in central Texas as it is in my home state of Pennsylvania, but at least I can enjoy beautiful autumn leaves when I create with my Eyelet Outlet Leaf Brads

The sentiment for this card is from Cricut's "Damask Love Designer T-Shirt Collection" cartridge.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it went perfectly with the Mini Leaf Brads!  The tree I used is from the old "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge, one of my first Cricut cartridges from years ago, and the basket is from "Doodlecharms."  I love the new Rake Brad!  It pairs so perfectly with the Mini Leaf Brads

Eyelet Outlet's trade show schedule is winding down for this year, but if you are in the Ontario, California area, stop in and see us at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo November 2 and 3!

Thanks for stopping in today!

(Sorry About the Earworm...)

I've had this idea for a card in my head ever since I (Lauren) knew we were going to have Lawnmower Brads in the Eyelet Outlet Fall 2018 release. I've also intermittently had the Clash's version of the iconic rock anthem in my head whenever I've thought about it. Luckily, I like that song. If you don't like that song, I'm really sorry. Maybe looking at the card more would help?

Often there's a lag between my idea for a sentiment and how I'll actually construct the card so the joke is visual. But this time I knew from the get-go that I wanted Sun and Cloud Brads in a fairly small sky, hovering over layers and layers of punched grass. And that there should seem to be much too much grass for the size of the mower. Which is how it feels on a hot day in the summer, lol!

I computer generated most of my sentiment (using a free font called "Mom's Typewriter") but then used foam stickers for "lawn". Again, they are a bit oversized compared to the Lawn Mower Brad, because I wanted the lawn to loom a bit!

At the very end, I had fun deciding what other brads could be hiding in, or flying over, all that grass. I went with some Rabbit Brads and Mini Bees, but I could easily have chosen Frogs and DragonfliesKittens and Ladybugs, or Gnomes and Butterflies!

There are lots more great Lawn Mower Brad ideas from the other designers on the blog, you should definitely scroll around a bit, you're in for a treat! ♥

really does mow her lawn with a red push mower
very much like the one on the card!

Up On the Rooftops

It's Kim from Katydid Cards.  Thanks for stopping by.

Up on the rooftops is where the action is today.  The Sleigh is another newly released brads at Eyelet Outlet.  For the cards I'm sharing with you today, I paired it with the Prancing Deer brads as they work perfectly together.

This easel card was created with a cut file from My Scrap Chick.  The house is cut from cardstock and adorned with the Holly, Red Foil and Brick Washi Tapes.  I also added the new Santa brad on the panel with the greeting.  I coated the snow with Wink of Stella to give it some shimmer and shine.

On this card, I wanted Santa's sleigh and reindeer to be a silhouette across the moon, so I heat embossed them in black.  They embossed beautifully and I think they look great.  I added some Pine Trees to complete the scene below.  Though you can't see it, I added a bit of sparkle to the roofs.

This box card was made with a cut file from the Yuletide Collection by SVGCuts.  I'll be sharing another card I made from this collection in a future post, so stay tuned.

Here's a look down at the card, so you can see the three inserts.  I love these box cards.  So clever that they lay flat for mailing but open to a stunning 3D card.

More Christmas cards to come, so please visit again real soon!

Yard Work

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with the observation that it seems there's never a shortage of yard work, regardless of the time of year.

Eyelet Outlet's new Mower & Rake brads, with some help from some oldie but goodie brads, are just the thing for cards or scrapbook pages to help celebrate the "lawn ranger" in your life.

On my first card, I also used the Mini Leaf, Mini Bee, Mini Stitched Flower, Dragonfly, and Garden Tool Brads to make four little vignettes.  In two of the circles, I used washi tape, Skinny Green and Hardwood, to serve as the grass and soil.  A final touch for the greeting, I added black Pearl Bling in three sizes.

Here's the inside of the card, clean and simple.  This card would work equally well as a birthday card or even a thank you for a landscaper.

And here is the Rake again, this time paired with the Leaf Brads and Wood Washi Tape.   The rake makes for the perfect checkmark on this Autumn To Do list.

Inside is some good advice because, let's face it, jumping in a pile of leaves is FUN!

Thanks for stopping by!  See you next week!

Witch Fun!

I had fun creating this stair step card with Eyelet Outlet's Witch Leg Brads, Witch Hat Brad, and Broom Brad!  I used tomb stones from the Cricut Mini Monsters and Wrap It Up cartridges and with the help of print then cut, created some funny text for them. But the star of this card is definitely the witch flying into the tree on her Eyelet Outlet Broom Brad

I had some more fun with this little riddle card!  My "twins" are from the Cricut Mini Monsters cartridge, but I made a few modifications and embellished them with the Eyelet Outlet Witch Hats, Witch Legs, Round Jewel Brads, and Broom Brads.

Here's the answer....

The New Super-Couple!

Don't worry, there are no Kardashians in this post. Just Kards... I mean cards! The super-couple to which I (Lauren) refer is the combination of Gina K Designs' Wreath Builder stamps and Eyelet Outlet brads. Because trust me, they are gooooooooooooood together. See?

It helps to have a stamp positioner. I suppose it's probably vital. And truly it's the thing that makes it not only possible to make awesome, unique cards this way-- but also really fun and slightly addictive! Then there are the brads, obviously.

My first card is built around our brand new Eyelet Outlet Apple Brads which come with both apples and cores. I used Gina K's Autumn Wreath Builder set to make a perfect home for them, with an appropriate sentiment from the same set.

The second card is still quite autumnal in feeling, but I've left it without a sentiment so that it could be a birthday, a thank you, or a get well; though naturally I hope not to need the latter anytime soon. I've added Daisy Flower BradsButterfly BradsMini Butterflies and Mini Ladybugs, as well as red and champagne Jewel Bling and a bit of Script Washi in the background.

My third card miiiiiiight be my favorite. Because one of our Gnomes is making use of a rake from the Lawn Mower Set in front of a Pumpkin with a background of softly falling Mini Leaf Brads! Boy would I love to have a gnome to do my leaf-raking in real life, but until that happens, I guess I'll just enjoy that in card form!

is in charge of the leaf-raking, lawn-mowing and hedge trimming
in her household; but has seldom cooked a meal in 33 years of marriage! :)
