Blue Screen of Death

I'm not sure how cats got a reputation of being aloof.  Our two are anything but!  Our oldest cat not only wants to be close by, she wants to be in the middle of whatever I'm doing at my craft table, so this card is obviously inspired by her!

Among the new spring brads recently released at Eyelet Outlet is this nifty computer brad. I added a small scrap of blue vinyl to the screen for this card.  Eyelet Outlet has several great cat and kitten brads.  This one is comes in a set of black and white cats in several different poses.

The desk is from Cricut's "Sentimentals" image set.  I used tiny 1/16th Eyelet Outlet round brads for the drawer pulls.  These tiny brads come in so handy in my card making.  They come in lots of colors, too, so stock up because you never know when they will the perfect touch of dimension to your project.

Thanks for being here today.  Check back often because you won't want to miss projects featuring the new spring brads by our talented team of designers!

Christmas in July (...technically, a week early...)

But these days there are TONS of awesome events and challenges surrounding the making of holiday cards all throughout July, and what better way to prepare than by stocking up on all your favorite Eyelet Outlet Holiday Brads, Washi Tape and Bling?! Hi folks, it's Lauren here again, with (seriously!) a couple of fun Xmas cards:

You may know that my craft bestie Stephanie and I have a fortnightly Christmas card blog called ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ so I am no stranger to making Xmas cards through the year. In fact, the only month I absolutely do not want to make holiday cards is... December! So any time that inspiration strikes me, I will happily sit down and make a couple of cards. In this case my first card was built around these sweeeeeeet Peppermint Candy Brads. In January I had picked up a super-cute gingerbread house stamp set in the post-holiday sales, and when I came across it again the other day and realized I *still* hadn't used it, I got right to work. I stamped the house in white, (thanks to Hero Arts' amazing Unicorn Ink!) added some gel pen details and a few sticky-back Pearl accents. I flanked the house with a Holiday Tree Brad and a Candy Cane, then built a little hilly little landscape, in which it is snowing candy! :)

My second card features these lovely Ornament Brads, which I'm embarrassed to say I don't use nearly enough. Or at least, I haven't until now. But seeing as all I needed to make this card was five Ornaments, portions of one Pearl Bling Strip and a stamped sentiment... I think this is an idea I will be revisiting over and over!

It's never too early to get a jump on the holidays, so I hope you'll be inspired to check out all the fun stuff in the EO Store. And of course we'd love to see you at ♥JINGLE BELLES♥ as well! ♥

will never go back to making
50+ cards in December!!!

I Did the Math

Hi!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards and today I'm sharing a cute birthday card featuring a number of Eyelet Outlet products on a clever card design called the "impossible card".  It would have been impossible for me to figure out how to do this without a video tutorial, I can tell you that!

So, back to the card.  First I used the Colored Math Washi Tape to cover the panels which are then matted on black before attaching to the card base.  Then I used the Hardwood Floor Washi Tape to frame the chalkboard.   And finally, I used the Chalk Board Washi Tape for the board itself.  These are three of my favorite washi tapes as they are so versatile!

To write on the board, I used a chalk pen as the washi really does act like a chalkboard.  To give it an "authentic" look, I also dusted it with embossing powder so it would appear as if it had been erased.  The finishing touch for the board is the Apple Brad.

Here's a picture of the side so you can see the clever design while I share that I also made a tray for the chalk and eraser I cut by covering a thin piece of cardstock with the Hardwood washi and then adding mounting tape to the back before attaching to give it dimension.

I also cut a thin strip of the Chalk Board washi and ran it across the strip on the bottom front of the card and then added Green Jewel Strip over that.

And here's the back of the card.  I admit, this sentiment is not for everyone but I have lots of friends who share my dry sense of humor!

Last week I totally forgot to share my Eyelet Post on my blog.  If you follow Eyelet Outlet's blog you already saw this; but just in case, here it is:

Sunflower Scarecrow

One of the things I like about Eyelet Outlet products is they are so versatile. They can be used in a variety of ways. For today's card I have a couple of tips to share.

First, let me show you the card:

Eyelet Outlet Products Used:

Green Washi Tape (similar to this one)

Now, about my tips:

Tip #1 - The Sunflower Washi Tape is glittery, which is great, but for a scarecrow card it just seemed a bit too glitzy. My solution was to put a piece of vellum over the top of it. Then I added the Checked Washi Tape over the top of the washi to help secure everything.

Tip #2 - I wanted leaves for my sunflowers to coordinate with the leaf on the scarecrow's hat, but I didn't have any leaves. No problem. I had green Washi Tape. I folded the tape so it was "sealed" and then I hand cut two leaves.

I then poked a hole in toward the end of each leaf and added it to one of the Sunflower Brads.

Then it was just a matter of attaching the brad to the card like normal. How fun is that!?!?!

Thanks a Ton

Our brand new grandson, Jonah, is getting showered with some adorable whale themed gifts and so I made these thank you notes for my daughter to send.  The cute little whale image is from the Cricut's "Just Because Cards" image set and the Eyelet Outlet Water Splat Brad was perfect touch, don't you think?!

The cute little whale is swimming in some water than I embossed with a wave embossing folder. Other Eyelet Outlet Brads used were the Seagull BradSun and Cloud Brad, and Anchor.

Thanks for stopping in today and if you're in the Chantilly, Virginia this weekend, stop by and see us at the Scrapbook Expo!

Wine (Tape) is the Answer!

Especially if the question is, "How can I make beautiful, fun, slightly silly, wine-themed cards really quickly?!" Because our brand new Eyelet Outlet Wine Washi Tape was custom designed to pair perfectly with our fabulous Wine Brads, as well as our cool new Grape Brads. Just stamp --or in my (Lauren's) case, computer generate-- a snarky sentiment and you are practically done already. See?

I love that the Grape Brads come with all three varieties... red, green and purple... in each packet. As for the Wine Brads, you get bottles and glasses of both red and white. Which is super-useful! For my first card I used the Wine Tape to create a fun patterned paper for the lower half of my card. Then added the brads within my diecut sentiment panel.

For my second card, I used the Wine Tape as more of an accent, so I only applied one strip, neatly set off with some Skinny Gold Tape. I used nice tall letter stickers for "Age" which I flanked with glasses from the Wine Brads set, plus bunches of red and green Grape Brads. The small Heart Pearls are a nice accent at the top, but also... they cover a distracting bit which was part of this slightly distressed patterned paper! ;)

Thanks for visiting today and CHEERS to you!

has never met a washi tape

Girl's Night Out

Hi!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

I remember fondly the days when I participated in girl's night out.  I still do it today, but it's become girls at the early bird special.

Here's a card that honors that time old tradition of girlfriends getting together and enjoying some quality time together.

To create this card, I used a number of brads; Shoes and Purse, Dress, and Women's Eyeglasses.  In addition, I used the beautiful Fancy Long Bling...can't have a girl's night out without bling!

I also took individual gems from the bling and placed them on the white scroll trim as a perfect accent.  Here's a closer look:

And when you open the card, this is the sentiment you see:

I hope you like my card and that it inspires you to plan a get together with your girls!

A Note from the Funny Farm

I've always held farmers in high regard; especially since my maternal grandfather was a farmer. Therefore I was really excited to see the farm-themed items in the new release at Eyelet Outlet - Farm Animal Washi Tape and Tracter Brads.

Today's card features both of those items and a few other Eyelet Outlet items, too.

Sunflower Box Card

Good morning, crafters!  Today I have another box card for you featuring Eyelet Outlet's new sunflower brads which I just love!  I've paired them with some greenery found in the Cricut image library.

Around the base of my card I added a beautiful wide glitter washi tape.  Eyelet Outlet has dozens of gorgeous floral washi tapes to choose from!  Did you notice to little Eyelet Outlet garden rake leaned against the wheelbarrow?  And of course, to top things off, I added a little cloud and sunshine brad in the sky.

I hope you are having a sunny day!  Thanks for stopping in and be sure to follow us on Instagram, too!

Cheers, Dad!

Father's Day is only a few days away, but I (Lauren) couldn't resist making a few last minute cards which feature our two of our four new Eyelet Outlet Custom Washi Tapes, which coordinate perfectly with our Brads and our Clear Stamp Sets! The good news is that both of these designs would also work really well as birthday cards!

My first card features the new Beer Tape, which mixes beautifully with the Beer Brads as you can see! (It also coordinates perfectly with the Beer Stamp Set, though I didn't use that this time.) I lined strips of tape up neatly on scraps of plain white cardstock, then used the "D" and the "A" from a really fun oversized set of chipboard aphas as templates to trace and cut out my letters. I had planned on running the "CHEERS" strip through the center of "DAD", but it turned out to cover up a bit too much of the tape for my liking, so I wound up moving it further down, instead.

I've used the Tool Tape as the background on my second card, matting it on a panel covered with Hardwood Floor Tape. I spelled out "Happy Father's Day" with tabbed letters as well as some chunky cork stickers; the latter i attached to a panel of silver metallic cardstock which I'd run through a diamond pane embossing folder. I attached the panel to the card with Screw Brads, which are incredibly useful. Each packet contains both large and small sized, as well as flat and phillips heads. This tape would also coordinate perfectly with our Tool Box and Nail Brads as well as Saw Brads and also the Tool Set, which contains hammers and wrenches!

If you need more inspiration, be sure to check out the Eyelet Outlet Blog frequently, because the design team are constantly dreaming up new ideas!

wishes everyone a very
Happy Father's Day!

Coming and Going

Hi!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

I've been stopped for speeding a few times in my life.  Fortunately, I always got away with just a warning.  I was always polite and respectful but I think it was the "deer in the headlights" look I must have had on my face that had the officers take pity on me.  Whatever it was, I'm thankful they saw fit to give me a break.

Here's a little tribute to those occasions.

I used a card base I've never tried before.  I got the cut file in the Silhouette store.  It's different and I'm always looking for something other than the norm to try.  I like it and will definitely use it again.

I used one of my favorite washi tapes on the mats; Map.  The road was created using the Truck Clear Stamp Set.  The brads include the Sun & Clouds, Summer Tree, First Responder, and Pick-Up Truck.   As a finishing touch, I added Bumpy Bling, which I colored with a red Copic marker.

Here's a closer look at all the products I used.

And here's another peek from the side, so you can see how the card is folded.  You wouldn't need a cut file to make this card, just come simple scoring.

I'm going now...but I'll be coming back next week with another card!
