Dreaming!

Happy Thursday, crafters! I've recently had such fun with the Cricut "Grandparents Printables" image set!  It's so cute!  It's a print-then-cut set, so the images are flat, but by adding Eyelet Outlet brads to them, you can create a fun and dimensional card your recipient will simply love!

First up, I've added a printable background from Cricut Nursery Tales set and Grandpa is out mowing the lawn with a fabulous little Eyelet Outlet lawnmower brad!  Next to the house, there's an Eyelet Outlet tree brad for a touch more texture.

While Grandpa is mowing, he's dreaming of getting finished and chilling in his easy chair with the newspaper and a cold beer!  This awesome package of brewskies includes bottles and chilled mugs!  This is a great way to say Happy Father's Day to a special guy in your life!

Grandpa continues to dream in my next project!  Again, the images are from Cricut's Grandparents Printables set, and for extra dimension, I've added an Eyelet Outlet potholder brad and glasses brads.

I hope I've given you a little chuckle for today!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful weekend with those you love.

Let's Hang Out

Hi folks, it's Lauren here again with some fun cards featuring Eyelet Outlet Clothing Brads, including DressWood Hanger and Jeans and Tee Shirt Brads!

One of my favorite ways to think outside the cardmaking box is to use what is called "negative space". By which I mean, instead of using the *shape* you get from using a circle punch, why not try using the hole from where the circle has been punched? So that's what I did on the "Hang Out" card. I strategically punched three one-inch circles on a piece of soft lavender paper, then I used that as my template for where to mount the brads on the blue dotty paper below. Since I wanted to show the clothing ON the Hanger Brads, I set the Hangers first, then carefully positioned the JeansTee Shirt and Dress Brads on top.

My favorite way to do a custom sentiment is by formatting it on the computer and printing it out on clear labels made for ink jet printers, because then I can make it exactly the right size and shape for my design. The clear background of the label paper disappears completely on all but the very darkest plain papers, but if I'm not sure, I test it out by sticking a tiny piece of the sticker paper's border to the edge of my paper or cardstock. When I'm going to cut the sentiment into an interesting shape, as I did for all three cards, I cut the sentiment from the sticker paper with a nice wide border all around, peel and stick it to the paper I want to use on my card, then punch or trim the cloud, banner or flag shape. In this way, the edge of the sticker paper doesn't show!

When it came to making a laundry line card, I couldn't decide whether to use a landscape or portrait style format; and then I couldn't decide whether the line should be black or white. So I did BOTH! In each case I traced a dinner plate, verrrrrrrry lightly, in pencil, to get nice smooth curving lines. Then I took the panels to my sewing machine to add the stitching. In the end, I felt like it was a mixed verdict: I prefer the three tiers of the portrait style card... but the black stitching shows up best. I have filed these facts away for future reference, lol!

Thanks for coming along to "hang out" with me today, I hope you'll be inspired to test some of your own cardmaking ideas which feature Eyelet Outlet brads and embellishments! ♥

actually does not hate doing
laundry all that much!

Flippin' Awesome

Hi!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards and today I've "cooked" up a card to celebrate the chef in your life!  It incorporates the Cooking, Baking, Pan & Rolling Pin, and Mixer & Cup brads as well as Silver Glitter Enamel Dots.  The Cooking Washi Tape goes perfectly with these brads.  I also used the Skinny Silver Washi Tape in between to accent.

On the reverse, there's room for your sentiment.  And you could put another brad or two, or more, on the back as well.

The card base was cut using a file purchased in the Silhouette store.

Have a Killer Birthday!

I was perusing Pinterest this week in my spare time - well, actually, I should have been folding clothes, but let's let that be our little secret!  😉  Anyway, I found several fun fold cards to try.  I especially loved this shadow box card, also known as a diorama card.  It's such a cool technique because it carries the fun elements of a card into the inside!

This is the front of my first shadow box card.  These print-then-cut sharks from Cricut's "Adorable Sharks" image set are just THAT!  Adorable!

I added a sand dollar brad from the Sea Shore brad set to my sea floor and some coordinating washi tape.  I also embossed my background paper with a wave embossing folder.

Here comes the fun when you open the card!

The shadow box feature on the inside adds lots of fun, interest, and dimension!  Embellishing the inside has so many possibilities, too!  I added an Eyelet Outlet Starfish brad and Sea Shell Brad.  Aren't these pretty brads?  They look so real!

Here's a close up!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Hope you're enjoying the weekend with those you love!

Going Places

It's a 3-day Holiday weekend for many people. that means going places - family gatherings, mini-vacations, or to the store to get more groceries for backyard picnics, etc. Whatever your plans, enjoy them and stay safe.

I even added a school bus (one of the new brads at Eyelet Outlet) to the traffic, as a reminder that for some people there's still a wee bit of school left after this weekend.

Another great way to spend the 3-day weekend is some online shopping (avoid all the traffic). Head over to the Eyelet Outlet store to see what you find there.

Land of the Free Because of the Brave

With Memorial Day coming up, I wanted to share this patriotic card with you which would be a perfect thank you card to a veteran in your life for his or her brave service.

Eyelet Outlet has a number of patriotic themed brads and today I've used the flag brad, the brand new eagle brad, army soldier brads, and red, white and blue star brads.  The sentiment in the center of my card comes from Cricut's "Because of the Brave" image set.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you enjoy Memorial Day weekend with those you love!

You Must Be 21 or Older to Enjoy This Post

Just kidding! Hi guys, it's Lauren here with a couple of fun and slightly snarky birthday cards starring the brand new Eyelet Outlet Wine Brads (which feature bottles and glasses in both red and white) plus Grape Brads, which have red, green and purple grapes in each packet!

I've mentioned before that sometimes when I have two different ideas for a card, rather than trying to choose just one, I actually make them both. In this case, I wound up using two different sentiments, but I think you could easily interchange them. My first card is a bit more elegant, thanks to a scrap of pretty chandelier paper, gold metallic alphas, and some lovely newer tapes. I chose to emphasize the word "wine" by using larger letters and swapping out the "I" for one of the bottles in the Wine Brads set. Down in the corner, I added two glasses from the same set and a bunch of Grape Brads. I finished off with some gold foil XO Tape, as well as some Script Tape and Skinny Washi in a little cluster.

For my second card I again used a "half and half" sentiment, but this time the emphasized word is made with Foreign Text Chipboard Letters from my Etsy shop, Just Enough Stuff. Instead of swapping out a letter, I attached several bottles and a glass from the Wine Brads and bunch of Grape Brads directly to my oversized letters, which span the width of my landscape oriented A2 card. I like the funky vibe and especially that either card would work for a masculine or feminine birthday!

Contrary to my post title, you can actually buy Wine Brads --also Beer BradsCocktail Brads, and even Champagne Glasses in the Wedding Set-- at any age, so why not pop over to the Eyelet Outlet Store and see what delicious Beverage Brads are available?

is very very slightly

Baseball!

Hello everyone!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards.

It's Spring and that means it's time for Baseball!  Here's a diamond-fold card to help celebrate the season.

The "field" is made from a diamond covered in Green Glitter Washi Tape.  The bases and home plate are plain white cardstock.

The bunny image is attached with an action wobble spring so he moves when he makes this incredible catch of the Baseball Brad. His cap is covered with Blue and Red Skinny Washi Tape.

Here's a picture of the diamond-fold a bit opened.  The side panels are adorned with Fan Hand Brads in two of the five colors.

And here's the back of the card with a sentiment I got at the Silhouette store.

Choo Choo! Happy Birthday To You!

Here is a great way to send birthday wishes to a little one in your life using Eyelet Outlet's Train brads!

I love making box cards.  For this one, I decided to fold and adhere the outer flaps to the inside of the box which served two purposes.  First, it concealed the prongs of the train brads for a clean finish, but more importantly, it let the star of the show shine brightly - the train brads!  Without the flaps, it was much easier to see the trains around the base of the card.

The conductor is from Cricut's Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge, but I used a digital face from Peachy Keen Stamps.  The Eyelet Outlet Red Bumpy Bling was totally perfect for my caution lights, don't you think?

Eyelet Outlet will be at the Scrapbook Expo in Orlando Florida this weekend, so if you're in the area, come on by!  We'd love to see you!

It's a Jungle Out There

Woooooooohooooooooo! There are so many awesome new brads in the Eyelet Outlet Store, my (Lauren's) biggest "problem" was choosing which ones to use first. But you definitely don't dis the king of the jungle, so in the end, I picked the Lion Tiger Zebra Brads, and made some appropriately jungle-centric ATCs.

Artist Trading Cards are a fun format in which to work, all the more so because there are groups all over the internet and social media where you can swap them. The official size is 2.5 x 3.5" which is exactly that of a standard playing card. In fact, I often build mine right on top of old playing cards I scoop up at garage sales.

For this set I combined leafy patterned paper with some neutrals --including an older paper from my stash which actually had a map of Africa on it! Then I added strips of Hardwood Floor Washi and Animal Print Tape to complete a suitable background.

I framed the Lion, Tiger and Zebra Brads in little label shapes to make them stand out even more. Then added sentiments I formatted on the computer (this free font is called Cafe Rojas) and printed out on clear labels made especially for inkjet printers.

I had so much fun making these wild ATCs that I had to go back and make a coordinating set featuring the original Jungle Mix with the Elephant, Giraffe and Monkey Brads from last autumn!

I think you'll GO WILD when you see all the fabulous new brads, as well as our brand new coordinating washi tapes!!! ♥

is a big fan of
