Thinking of You

This time of social distancing can get very lonely for some, especially our friends who live alone or are confined to a nursing home without visitors, so a cheery note is a great way to brighten their day!

I made this with Eyelet Outlet paper flowers.  For the centers of each flower I used one of the rolled flowers from the Cricut Flower Shoppe image set in a coordinating paper.  Then I added a few Eyelet Outlet leaf brads, some skinny orange washi tape and another pop of color from an Eyelet Outlet enamel heart.

I hope all of you are well and thank you for stopping in today!

Timely ATCs

Here's a very Lauren-y story: I saw Taylored Expressions' set of funny Covid19 digital sentiments and especially loved the one about jeans. Eyelet Outlet make a fab set of Jeans and Tee Shirt Brads, so I decided to make a fast card combining them. As it turns out, I have EVERY color of Tee Shirt Brad, but... (can you see where this is going?!) ...not even one pair of jeans left! Argh! As it turned out, I did have brads that worked with three of the other sentiments, so the day was saved!

Before I talk about the ATCs I'll just mention that the sentiments are a free download from the Taylored Expressions Website, you just have to make a (FREE!) account, sign in, add the Big Grumpy Covid19 Sentiments to your cart, and check out. You'll get an email with a link to the download; easy-peasy, not even a credit card required! They're in a pdf format, which you can then print out on the paper or cardstock of your choice. My first ATC uses the "Stay Home" sentiment, which I printed on white cardstock and just trimmed down to fit in the patterned paper frame. I added a Computer and Headphones at opposite corners, and made my 2.5 x 3.5" Artist Trading Card based from patterned paper in coordinating colors... one piece even has little houses on it!

The "Messy House" sentiment seemed perfect to pair with our Vacuum and Broom Brads. This time I only framed up the brads, and set them above the sentiment, which I had printed on clear ink jet labels and stuck to this fun ledger-print paper. Again I found a sweet pattern of little houses, this time as a background.

I'm sort of excited about the third ATC, which uses the "Shampoo" sentiment, because I don't think I've ever before used the EO Brush and Hair Dryer Brads! But they really are just right for this. Again I put one at each corner, so that the sentiment takes center stage.

Thank you Taylored Expressions for the inspiration and the fun sentiments! And thank you Eyelet Outlet for literally having a brad for EVERY occasion!

is grateful to be safe at home

Simply loving these new Sloth & Koala brads from Eyelet Outlet!
Just perfect for sweet cards such as this.
I added our Sequins and Enamel Hearts for a little added interest and to guide your eye through the card.  That Thin Glitter washi tape makes a great base line.

Feeling Sloth?

If you're like me, it feels like the two biggest tools to get through the day is my coffee and a sweet treat. That unfortunately ends up making me feel a little slothy! And that's the inspiration for today's card. This one features a cute sloth from the new Sloth and Koala Brads Set hanging on my coffee stir stick along with my treat. But it's a hole food right? No problem! Ha, ha!

Along with the sloth brad, I used a piece of the super cute Sloth Washi Tape which I matted on green cardstock. This is a great way to get a smooth washi tape result on a "bumpy" card like this with a die cut as the background. I also included three black pearls from the Black Pearls Multi Pack. I happen to be out of the Donut Brads at the moment but that would really be awesome on this card.

Here's a little closer look at the sloth, tape and pearls.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by today for a little slothy fun!

Sloths

Today's card is a card of encouragement and is all about the Sloths.  Did you know that sloths spend most of their time hanging upside down in trees of the tropical rain forest and live in the jungles of South America and Central America?

The Eyelet Outlet Sloths are magical and fun to work with.  They made me smile and no doubt the recipient of this card will also smile.

Head on over to the Eyelet Outlet site to pick up some Sloth Brads and other animals.  Don't forget the cloud brads and sun brads along with the leaf brads.  See what kind of jungle scene you can create!

You Have the KOALIFICATIONS!

I know you're going to love the brand new Koala brads at Eyelet Outlet as much as I do!  They "Koalafy" as one of our cutest animal brads yet!

Today I've paired the Koala brad with one of the darling koala patterned digital papers from DG Express Etsy Shop.  I also used some Eyelet Outlet mini leaf brads and our sun and cloud brads. Then I topped it off with a couple of green enamel hearts.

I hope you are all having a KOALATY day!

Just Hanging Out!

...with the brand new Eyelet Outlet Sloth Brads. Ok, technically, this item is called Sloth and Koala Brads, and the packs come with six of each; but in today's post I (Lauren) am only featuring the sloths. But don't be insulted, koalas, you'll get your turn, I promise!

My very first thought when I saw the adorable sloths was the "Sloth Mail" sentiment! (No, I don't really think like other people, lol!) It was one of those times when had the whole picture of the card inside my head, from the Sloth holding an envelope from the Mail Brad set, down to what font I'd use for the sentiment (Bohemian Typewriter!) and the fact that I'd line up strips of Mail Washi on the diagonal to make my own patterned paper. Of course, I hadn't realized that this particular tape is out of stock at the moment, and I'm hoping it will come back in soon; but meanwhile, the idea would work perfectly well with any of our other Mail Tapes or Postage Tapes or with postal-themed patterned paper, or REAL postage, or... well, you get the idea, it's pretty flexible!

But not everybody wants to get as silly as I do, so I also made up a more "mainstream" sentiment, as well. This one uses a free font called Stamp Act. Both of these sentiments will be on the freebies page as jpg files you can right click and save or print if you'd like to use them to make your own cards!

This card is also designed around a specific tape, in this case it's the adorable Sloth Washi. Again, I made a background panel from the tape, but this time instead of insetting my sentiment, I've added it on top. I used a pencil to very lightly draw "vines" for the Sloth Brads to frolic on, and then I machine stitched to add some fun texture, but you could draw them, instead, or stamp some foliage!

I hope you'll be inspired to create your own sentiments to go with our Eyelet Outlet Brads, and if you do, please share them on the EO FaceBook page because we'd love to see them!

...consistently
cracks herself up!!!

Can't Wait To Hang Out Again Soon!

Have you seen the new Sloth & Koala Brads brads this month? OMG! They are so cute and there are so many good ideas that the Design Team has come up with. Love it all!

My card features the koalas. I covered a mint A2 card base using a designer paper panel that reminds me of Eucalyptus with shades of minty green. Inside each circle, I put a portion of a tree branch and a Koala brad. The sentiments are embossed with white heat embossing. I accented it with two white flowers that I colored using my Copic markers to match my color scheme. I love that I can customize flowers from Eyelet Outlet with Copics, watercolor or just about anything you want to use. I used white enamel dots as accents and as the flower center.

As is often the case with my cards, I put the punchline on the inside. It extends the fun a little longer. Today's card says, "Can't Wait To Hang Out Again Soon!" If I don't have the sentiment I want in my supplies, I print the message on a piece of white copier paper and attach it only on the left side of the card. I really like finishing my cards this way. It's very similar to the interior of quality purchased cards. As a bonus, it also hides the back sides of the brads! I've made templates in Word so that it's super quick and easy to make the card interiors for both A2 sized and 5 x 7 cards.

Have a wonderful Sunday! Hope you're "Hanging With Your Homies" and staying safe.

Hugs,

Sloth To Do List

Happy Thursday, crafters! Eyelet Outlet has some new brads in the store!  Sloths and Koala brads are available now and they are so cute a life-like, I know you're going to want to add some to your shopping carts right away!

Today I'm bringing you a card I made with the sloth. I started out with a To-Do List from Cricut's Witty Wisdom image set, but I needed to make a few modifications to the list for items that a sloth would probably have on it's list, so I added "hang out" and "take a nap."  Since being on my state's "stay at home" orders for so many weeks now, I am beginning to feel like this sloth!

I chose a branch from the Cricut image library for my sloth to hang from and then added a few Eyelet Outlet mini leaf brads.  The background is a few strips of our beautiful cloud patterned washi tape.

Thanks for being with us today and be sure and check back next week and see how I've used the Koala brad from the Sloths & Koala brad set.

New Brads!!

Happy New Brad Day!! Sloth & Koala Brads from Eyelet Outlet.
Also, green Paper Flower petals and mat green enamel dots were used to create the foilage.
Mini Butterfly brads are a sweet touch!

Not being sloth like this month,

Brads of a Feather...

...Flock together! Eyelet Outlet Bird Brads, that is! There are Bluebird and Robin Brads (which come in the same packet) and two styles of very handsome Cardinal and Cardinal Profile Brads! Please don't ask me (Lauren) to choose a favorite, because that would be impossible!

I haven't made Artist Trading Cards or, in this particular case, Artist Trading Coins... in a while, but suddenly I was in the mood, so that's what I made. What are "Artist Trading" items? As the name implies, they're intended to be small handmade items for crafters and artists to trade via the mail, at conventions and meetups. Generally, an artist will make a series of similar ones at a sitting, in order to swap with several people at the same time. Artist Trading Cards are the size of a playing card (2.5 x 3.5") and Coins are 2.5" circles. The etiquette of this artform demands that they never be sold, only traded; though you can also find something called ACEO (Art Card Originals and Editions) which are essentially the same format, but intended for sale.

This trio of Artist Trading Coins feature our various bird brads, with stamped backgrounds of nests and foliage on some lovely, slightly yellowed, book paper. The Robin and Bluebird each stands proudly in front of a nest. Surrounding it, there are some tiny paper leaves, which I made by cutting apart the smallest size of EO green Paper Flowers

The Cardinal and Cardinal Profile are perched in some branches, to which I've added more paper leaves and some tiny berries snipped from the edge of a Bling Swirl. Each ATC has a Dymo Label sentiment, from which I trimmed away the excess tape, so that the scale fit my design better.

Whether you've made Artist Trading Coins before OR you've always wanted to try, wouldn't this be a great time to make some and surprise your crafty pals with Happy Mail? And I bet for any subject or idea you can dream up, there's an Eyelet Outlet Brad that will make your design even better! ♥

Calling All Dog Lovers!

Since we are staying in so much those of us with dogs are having extra bonding time with our furry friends. Today's card celebrates the dogs in our lives and our human friends as the same time! How can you go wrong? Plus it's gender neutral which is handy. It features the matching Dog Washi Tape and Puppy Brads. I also used a Black Matte Enamel Dot on the center of the paper bow. The Friends sentiment was cut four times and layered to get the chunky look I was looking for. I also used a dog paw embossing folder which is hard to see in the photo.

Happy Easter

I'd like to wish all of our Eyelet Outlet fans a Happy Easter this coming Sunday.  Here's a card I made to send out to the loved ones we won't be able to celebrate with in person this year.

The window frame on this card is an image from Cricut's Ornamental Iron 2 set.  I used a lovely stained glass digital paper from Waterhouse Graphics Etsy shop behind the frame.

Eyelet Outlet paper flowers were the perfect complement to the colors in the window and I used some of Eyelet Outlet's Jeweled Round Brads in the center of the flowers.  Then I finished the card with one of Eyelet Outlet's cross brads.

Wishing you a blessed Easter.  Stay safe.  Stay well.

It's an EGG-stravaganza!

Easter is only a few days away but I (Lauren) couldn't resist making one more special card with my leftover Eyelet Outlet Easter goodies!

I still had plenty of the adorable Chick Brads, but only three Colored Eggs. So i decided to "make a scene" lol, in the literal sense. I've got Cloud Washi and a Sun and Cloud Brad for sky; and punched two levels of patterned paper grass, so I could raise one on foam tape to "hide" the eggs. I scattered a couple of Mini Stitched Flower Brads in there too, for extra interest.

Wishing the happiest of Easters to everyone who is celebrating! ♥

has entirely resisted Easter candy...
so far... :)
