A Fall Photo Shoot

Hello, Jeanette here from the design team. For today's card I used a variety of Eyelet Outlet brads to create scenes in three polaroid-style photos: one of raked leaves (on the left), one with a bicycle (in the center), and one with a horse beside a pine tree (on the right).

I thought it made for a great photo opp type of card, so I also used a camera brad and some camera Washi Tape, as well as a few other products from Eyelet Outlet.

Bird Problems

It's been a hot summer, but today we are having a taste of fall with some cooler temperatures here in Central Texas, so it put me in the mood for an autumn themed card.

I decided to use the brand new robin brads for this card which will available very, very soon in they Eyelet Outlet Store! Now robins might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of autumn, since they are typically a welcome sign of spring.

These robins have their Eyelet Outlet Suitcase Brad packed and are heading south for the winter!  These two robins sound just like my husband and me when we leave for a trip!  I have never learned how to pack light!

The tree for this card came from Cricut's Stretch Your Imagination cartridge and the sparsely placed Mini Leaf Brads perfectly illustrated that winter is on the way!

Thanks for coming by today!  Be sure and check out all of Eyelet Outlet's new releases! I know you'll have as much fun with them as I'm having!

The Saint Nick Express!

The most daunting thing about Christmas cards, at least for me (Lauren), is that I need A LOT of them (60+) and obviously I need them all at the same time. For those of us who don't enjoy mass-producing cards, this can really add up to a lot of time spent. Fortunately, I've learned a few tricks. One is that I make holiday cards all year long. Another is to use pre-made products whenever possible. I love the pocket scrapbooking cards that come with so many paper collections. There are a million varieties, and give cards an automatic focal point. Oh, and did I mention that they are the perfect size to feature some of our brand new Eyelet Outlet holiday brads? When I adorn journal cards with brads and place them on top of a custom background of EO washi tape, I can make a lot of unique and individual cards, very quickly! Who doesn't like that?!

When I saw this "Ho Ho Ho" pocket card, I immediately thought of our new Santa Suit Brads which come with both coat and boots. They are exactly right with last year's Santa Hats, as well. I matted the card on some gingham paper and then popped it up on a background I made by filling a slightly smaller than A2-sized panel with Red Tree Tape.

Stickers are another great time saver. I like to look at the features and scale of the design, and think about where I could slip in a brad or two to add texture and interest. This fun holiday car just happened to have a wreath on its front grill, exactly the size of our brand new Wreath Brads! The wreath on the sticker featured a red bow which overhung slightly and looked a bit odd, so I added a Poinsettia Brad at the top to cover. Mounting them so closely, I had to turn the second brad's prongs both facing the same direction. They were pretty secure, but just to be extra safe, I added a small piece of double stick tape at the back, over the prongs. Trust me, they are not going to slip or slide anywhere! The car's headlights were just a smidge smaller than our 6mm Pearl Brads, the size and profile of which really do resemble a vintage car don't you think? Finally, there I added a Heart Brad over the one printed on the card. My background is this fun argyle Christmas Pattern tape, and I've added a few red and grey Skinny Tapes behind the car, as well.

At 4" square, the pocket card with this fun snowglobe on was just a little bit too big for a standard A2 card. I often "size up" to a five or six inch square card, but this time I wasn't crazy about the original background. So I decided to neatly trim the words and fussycut the snowglobe, whose little house was just the right size for our Santa and Mrs. Claus to stand in front of, with a couple of Snowflake Brads for authenticity. When making tape backgrounds, wide washi covers lots of area fast, and this Tree Tape is an old favorite of mine. A strip of Red Dots Tape grounds the sentiment and fills in the panel perfectly.

I bet you have LOTS of pocket cards and stickers already in your collection that you could "fancy up" with a few Eyelet Outlet bradsbling or enamel shapes to make super-fast, super-fun cards!

Getting Caffeinated

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today!

I've been enjoying working with Eyelet Outlet's new clear stamp sets.  Among them is the Coffee Stamp Set.   The cards I'm sharing with you today pairs the stamps with some great brads and I love the result as much as I love coffee...and that's a LOT!

In addition to coffee themed sentiments, the stamp set includes images of the to-go coffee cup and the coffee bean.  On this card, I used the cup to create background paper; coordinating the colors to the brad.  To fill in the open areas, I randomly applied red Nuvo Dots in various sizes.  The Coffee Cup Brad was centered in the peek-a-boo oval where I stamped the sentiment in red.  The card base was created from a cut file purchased in the Silhouette store.

While I made this as an all-occasion card, I think it would be a great way to present a gift card to a coffee shop as well.

If you want to send a card to catch up with your coffee-loving friend, this "What's Brewing" sentiment is perfect.  I stamped it in a flourished frame which I created from yet another cut file in the Silhouette store.  The flourish was the perfect spot to place the Coffee Bean Brads, accented with Pearl Bling

In the lower right, I placed a coffee maker (which I managed to obscure with my watermark).  On that, I placed an adorable cup brad from the Tea Pot/Cup Brads with a Heart Pearl colored with a Copic marker.  This great digital background paper brought all the colors together.

I tried something a bit different for this shaker card.  I stamped the coffee cup image and scanned it into my computer.  Then I enlarged it to card size.  With some welding and offsets I turned it into the shaker you see here.  If you're interested in knowing the process, just ask in the comments section and I'd be happy to share the details.  The "Cool Beans" sentiment fit perfectly on the lid.

Inside the shaker, I used the Coffee Bean Brads again.  To make sure they didn't catch on each other, I snipped the prongs off and just placed a drop of Glossy Accents on the backs.  This way they shake nicely.  Just for interest, I added a few seed beads.

I hope you liked my coffee cards and are inspired to go off an make your own...or at least have a cup of your favorite blend.  And did you know that National Coffee Day is September 29th, so this post is quite timely!

Lovely Weather for a Sleigh Ride Together

Wait until you see the new Sleigh brads!  They are so lovely and I couldn't wait to create something with them!  I love how it pairs so perfectly with the Eyelet Outlet Horse Brad and also with the Deer Brads.

The elements for this card come from the Cricut "Christmas Cards" cartridge, but I modified the original card so that I could use the new Eyelet Outlet Sleigh Brad and Eyelet Outlet Horse Brad.

I used foam tape to give the card even more dimension, creating a diorama effect.

Be sure and see all the new brads at Eyelet Outlet.com and come back soon to see the fun the design team is having with them!

Sleighin' It

There are some fab new holiday brad styles in the Eyelet Outlet Store, with more to come! One that I (Lauren) especially love is the Sleigh Brad, which pairs perfectly with the Prancing Deer from last year.

My first card features an Inchie version of the Sleigh Brad being pulled by three Prancing Deer. I've also worked in some Skinny Tape from a set of five which will be in the store very soon!

My second card contains my favorite cardmaking hack: I love to use journaling cards and stickers! By starting with premade ingredients, all I really had to do for this one was attach my SleighPine Tree and Snowflake Brads and I was *done*!

There are more adorable NEW holiday brads in the EO store right now, with more designs being added weekly. Be sure to check this space periodically to see the design team's awesome and inspiring ideas for using them!

Dinner and Cocktails

It's Kim from Katydid Cards today!

It's been a while since I've worked with the Chicken Brads so I just had to make another card using them.  I call this card, "Dinner Invitation" and you can see why.  These two chickens have been invited to join their neighbor for dinner.  Here they are at the front door.

And here they are inside.  What's that on the menu??  Uh Oh!  I used the Cooking, Baking, and Mixer Brads as well as Brick, Color Wheel, and Flower Washi Tape. The door handles are Black Enamel Dots.

If you're interested in recreating this card you will find the card base, kitchen, and cleaver in the Silhouette store.    The chef is from My Favorite Thing's Recipe for Happiness.  The chalkboard is free clip art I imported into the Silhouette and typed what's on the menu...inspired by my DT Sister, Susan's, Wednesday meal postings.

Here's a closer look at the brads and washi.

Winner, winner chicken dinner!

No dinner would complete with cocktails, so I'm sharing another card adding the Rooster brad.  I showcased him in a shadowbox card.  Each layer uses a different digital paper from the Cocktail Party collection by JazzyPatterns.  I also used the Cocktail brads on either side of the greeting.

On the reverse of the card are my favorite chicken brads again!

I'll see you next week with another card...there's no shortage of ideas what with all the brads, bling and washi in the Eyelet Outlet store.

Christmas Doors!

Here is a fun way to use Eyelet Outlet's new wreath brad.
Create a gate fold card from a piece of cardstock that measures 5.5 x 8.25.
Score along the long edge 2 1/8" and 6 3/8".
Fold each side to meet in center.

Next...decorate as desired.
I cut out panels and embossed them with a wood grain.
Next I sponged the edges to give definition.
I hand made the banner...and again, sponged the edges.

The door handles are made from 8mm pewter brads.
Simply open the prongs flat and use a Glue Dot ® to adhere them to the card front where
door handles would be.

Come to our next tradeshow to check out the new holiday brads...
as well as washi, bling, and paper flowers!

A Sleigh Ride in Winter

Eyelet Outlet has recently released some new brads, many of them Christmas and/or Winter. Have you seen them? They are so cute!!! Santa and Mrs. Clause, Santa's Suit and Boots, and some other darling ones, too. I loved the Sleigh brad so much that it was the starting point for today's card. I created  a winter mountain scene for the sleigh and of course there had to be a horse to pull it, right?

The snowy scene in the washi tape sparkles so much!

Cloud #9

Next time you need a fun way to let someone know how happy you are for them, reach for the sky and say it with the Eyelet Outlet clouds and sun brads!

I started with a cloud frame from Cricut Stand & Salute cartridge.  Have you ever noticed when using Eyelet Outlet brads on your cards that the recipients can't help but feel the brads?  The just add such touchable dimension to your project, who could help but want to feel them!  The sun and cloud brad on this card are no exception.  For an extra touch of dimension I also added an Eyelet Outlet enamel arrow.  Eyelet Outlet has so many sizes, colors, and styles of enamel dots and shapes!

How about a little "Throw Back Thursday," today!  Here's another card I created a year or so ago using some cloud brads that's always been one of my favs!

That's an adorable Eyelet Outlet pig brad atop the plane and he's flying high among the cloud brads on his plane from the Cricut Art Deco cartridge.

Hoppily Ever After

Yes, someday, I (Lauren) promise to once again make something that does not include a diabolical pun. But today is not that day, lol! Case in point, a card that features the frogs, waterlillies and cattails which all come in the Eyelet Outlet Frog Brad Set:

This card also includes one of my favorite hacks for our Paper Flowers. I've mentioned before that I love cutting the petals of the green flowers apart, to make leaves and vines. This time I cut the whole flower across the center to make a lilypad!

Of course, no one likes a uni-tasking pun, right? Luckily we also have Rabbit Brads, which work equally well with the sentiment. I liked the little "scene" in the frogs' card, so I tried to give the bunnies a bit of context by putting them on a sunshiney mini journal card and adding a cloud from the Sun and Cloud Brads as well as a Mini Butterfly.

As I was grabbing the ingredients for the other two cards, I came across the Beer Brads, and realized that "hop" can be a noun as well as a verb. So obviously I had to make a third version. I couldn't come up with a realistic landscape for this one, but I added one of my favorite Heart Brads for good measure!

I hope you're having a very HOPPY day, and that you'll be inspired to make a fun card (or three!) before it's over! ♥
