Zoo Day!

When Eyelet Outlet released the new Jungle Mix Brads, I knew right away it was time to create a scrapbook page of last year's trip to the zoo with our granddaughter!

The Jungle Mix includes elephants, giraffes, and monkeys.  I love the way the monkeys are swinging through the vines on my page!  I used some Eyelet Outlet Animal Print Washi Tape to frame my photos.

Eyelet Outlet Tree Brads added a little pop on my page, too!  There are two styles of trees in the package.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Fun with ATC's!

I don't know about you, but I (Lauren) make more greeting cards than anything else. And let's face it, they are by far the most practical paper-crafting project, aren't they? But sometimes I need to shake things up, and another format I really love is the Artist Trading Card. Like these:

The "official" size for ATC's is 2.5 x 3.5" which is exactly the size of a standard playing card... which is what I use as a base to build my designs. I covered my cards with patterned paper trimmed to size and then got to work on the FUN part: adding the little brad scenes and punny sayings! My first card features the new adorable and realistic Jungle Mix Brads, which miiiiiiiiiiight be my favorite item from the May 2018 Release.

My next card has nothing from the new release, but the Typewriter and Hand Brad sets are still faves of mine, and they inspired me to type all of the sentiments on one of my real vintage typewriters. Plus, it's hard to beat typewriters in love, don't you think? Because if you attach a pair of any brads and add a Heart Brad you've got instant cuteness off the charts, imo!

Our Summer Tree Brads are beautifully realistic deciduous trees in two different shapes (a bit like an ash and an oak tree, I'd say) and they go really well with the Pine Tree Brads from last year. I am secretly hoping that we'll see Autumn Tree Brads at some point, with beautifully colored foliage... just sayin'...

Finally, the Wooden Hanger BradsJeans and Tee Shirts and Dress Brads are also from the newest release and they work wonderfully in all sorts of ways, together or separate. The Jeans and Tee Shirts come with lighter and darker jeans, plus five colors of shirt in each packet; the dresses are a mix of four beautiful pastel shades, plus black.

I hope you'll be inspired to try the Artist Trading Card format with some of *YOUR* favorite Eyelet Outlet Brads! ♥

So Lucky

Hi there.  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

In honor of Mother's Day earlier this week, I'm sharing a card featuring Eyelet Outlet's new Horse and Tree Brads and an oldie but goodie, the Sun & Cloud Brads.  They're part of the new release coming soon to the store, so keep checking for them and all the other new brads.

To make my card, I started with a 5 1/2" square card base and then decided to cut about 3" off the.  I used a lucky horseshoe cut file from the Silhouette store, created an offset and welded it to the front of the card in the design studio.

For the horseshoe and mat, I cut watercolor paper for a great textural look.  It was colored with distress inks as they blend so beautifully.  To create the hill, I used a mask cut from scrap paper.  I cut the greeting in the mat, removed it and colored it with the same color distress ink as the horseshoe and then placed the letters back in the opening.  With the bit of scrap left, I punched the corner pieces...it's been years since I used that corner punch.

The inside of the horseshoe was the perfect spot for Momma horse and her mare under the shade of the trees.  The open area on the mat was calling for something...what better than some sunshine!  Here's a closer look at the brads.  You can also see that I embossed the back of the card with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder by Stampin' Up.

Inside a simple yet sincere sentiment for Mom.  This would be a great card to give any mom, horse lover or not.

Eyelet Outlet has a number of barnyard animal brads.  Here's a card I made with the Pig and here's another with the whole gang!
