Spring Birdhouse

Good morning, crafters.  I'm so glad spring has finally sprung. I saw my first blue bird of the season yesterday and it inspired this card using Eyelet Outlet's beautiful blue bird brad. A robin is also included in this set.

I had this lovely daisy digital paper, so I carried the daisy theme forward by using a couple of our daisy brads and a leaf brad on my card.

I made a similar card not long ago with a Winter theme using our cardinal brads, and I'm thinking ahead in my mind about a Fall Birdhouse version, too!

Thanks for coming by today and if you've used Eyelet Outlet bird brads in any of your projects, we would love to see!  Come by our Eyelet Outlet Fans Facebook group and share, please!

Popping By to Say Hello

Good Thursday morning crafters! Today I'm "popping by" with a little shaker card embellished with a couple of Eyelet Outlet popcorn brads!

Eyelet Outlet carries some of the best sequins I've seen anywhere.  There's lots of different shapes and colors to choose from.  Today I'm simulating popcorn with the yellow and white round sequins.  I've also nestled one of our little bluebird brads into the shrubbery.  I'm sure he's hoping for a piece of popcorn to fall his direction!

I created this card with Cricut Design Space and if you're a Cricut crafter and would like to make this card, too, I've shared the file and detailed instructions on my Cricut profile.  Just follow the links in my post to order your brads and sequins from Eyelet Outlet and then search for my name, Susan Creech, in the Cricut Community or follow the link beneath my photo below.

Calendar Girl

When I (Lauren) saw this super-fun, extra-wide Calendar Washi in the Eyelet Outlet Store, I knew immediately that I wanted to adorn it with a year's worth of seasonal brads. I confess it didn't occur to me that I'd wind up with with 29 brads from 21 sets on a 6.5 x 5.5" card; but that's cool too!

Here's the brad list, month by month; try to spot my very silly mistake! January: Penguin and Snowflake Brads; February: Heart Brads; March: Bluebird and Robin Brads plus a Mini Bee; April: Chick and Colored Egg Brad; May: Colored Daisy and Mini Ladybug; July: the Hat from our patriotic Flag and Hat set; June: Tall Palm Tree and Colorful Sunglass Brad; August: Ice Cream and the Sun from the Sun and Cloud Brad set; September: Book Brad and a School Bus; October: Pumpkin and Mini Spiders (they're on sale!); November: Mini Leaves and the Rake from our Lawn Mower set; December: Santa and Mrs. Claus.

So did you catch the error? Yep. I accidentally swapped June and July!!! And what's more I didn't even notice until I was writing up this post! Oh well, technically June has Flag Day and July is still a nice month for the beach, so let's just keep this between ourselves, ok? Thanks!

does actually know the months of the year...

Brads of a Feather...

...Flock together! Eyelet Outlet Bird Brads, that is! There are Bluebird and Robin Brads (which come in the same packet) and two styles of very handsome Cardinal and Cardinal Profile Brads! Please don't ask me (Lauren) to choose a favorite, because that would be impossible!

I haven't made Artist Trading Cards or, in this particular case, Artist Trading Coins... in a while, but suddenly I was in the mood, so that's what I made. What are "Artist Trading" items? As the name implies, they're intended to be small handmade items for crafters and artists to trade via the mail, at conventions and meetups. Generally, an artist will make a series of similar ones at a sitting, in order to swap with several people at the same time. Artist Trading Cards are the size of a playing card (2.5 x 3.5") and Coins are 2.5" circles. The etiquette of this artform demands that they never be sold, only traded; though you can also find something called ACEO (Art Card Originals and Editions) which are essentially the same format, but intended for sale.

This trio of Artist Trading Coins feature our various bird brads, with stamped backgrounds of nests and foliage on some lovely, slightly yellowed, book paper. The Robin and Bluebird each stands proudly in front of a nest. Surrounding it, there are some tiny paper leaves, which I made by cutting apart the smallest size of EO green Paper Flowers

The Cardinal and Cardinal Profile are perched in some branches, to which I've added more paper leaves and some tiny berries snipped from the edge of a Bling Swirl. Each ATC has a Dymo Label sentiment, from which I trimmed away the excess tape, so that the scale fit my design better.

Whether you've made Artist Trading Coins before OR you've always wanted to try, wouldn't this be a great time to make some and surprise your crafty pals with Happy Mail? And I bet for any subject or idea you can dream up, there's an Eyelet Outlet Brad that will make your design even better! ♥

A trio of cards

Look who has popped up on our radar!
Jeanette, of Cre8tive Play, with a trio of cards!

The above card is a great way to use our washi tape.
The large panel on top is a great canvas for our decorative brads!

Spring is just around the corner...
so feel free to show a little warmth with these Puppy and Blue Bird brads!
The washi tape makes as great ground line.
Plus, our enamel dots come in various sheens: shiny, glitter, mat!

Just love how she pairs the Bear and Poloar Bear brads together in this
card with a fun sentiment!  The snowflake brads make a great addition to the decorative paper.

It's a CARD-inal!!! :)

The new Fall 2019 brads, bling and tapes are making their way into the Eyelet Outlet Store, and one of my (Lauren's) favorite new brads are the Profile Cardinals which are beautiful on their own but even nicer with the original Cardinal Brads. See?

I am a really big fan of the EO Paper Flowers, and the green ones have a special place in my heart because the petals make such beautiful leaves when you cut them apart! I used one small and one medium flower to augment my diecut branches.

I had so much fun making the first card that I decided to do a landscape version featuring the Bluebird and Robin Brads, just so they wouldn't feel left out!

I hope you'll have a chance to get outside today and see some birds in real life, but if not, the EO Store is here for you! ♥

Bird Conversations

Even in the aviary world, some folks have more to say than others, lol. A fact that I (Lauren) have captured in card form, using one of my favorite sets from the fall 2018 release, our Blue Bird and Robin Brads!

I used some ancient speech bubble stickers as templates to cut many (MANY!) left-facing speech bubbles from sheet music to constitute the bluebird's part of this discussion. And also one right-facing speech bubble from ledger paper on which I had typed Mr. Robin's succinct reply, "Whatever". I diecut a branch, set the Bird Brads, then added all of the bubbles to an appropriately sky-like background. A thin orange mat helps direct the eye immediately to those very handsome birds!

Whatever ♥YOU♥ might be inspired to say in card form, I'm pretty sure there's at least a few styles of Eyelet Outlet Brads to help you do that!

who sees lots of robins
but only the very occasional bluebird.

Blue Bird of Happiness

If it's bird brads you need, Eyelet Outlet has them!  We have the best selection of the most beautiful bird brads you'll find!  There are cardinals, flamingos, chickensroosters, seagulls, ducks and more!  And new to the Eyelet Outlet bird selection are the Blue Bird and Robin Brads!

For today's project I'm using the Blue Bird.  Doesn't he look so pretty sitting on the tree surrounded by the beautiful green leaf brads?  The cute car I used for this card is from Cricut's "Beep Beep" cartridge.  And how about that clear bumpy bling for headlights on my car!  It's available in several colors and shapes, but I always reach for the clear round ones when I need headlights!

I'm glad you stopped in today and be sure to follow us on Instagram, too!
