Hey Chickie!

It's still fall and the cooler days remind me that on the farm, the season brings the harvest of the bounty. This card features a farmland scene with a rooster and his hens, a goat and a cow. A farmer is busy in the fields and it's a sunny day with light clouds. 

This card was easy to make with hills made of gold and green cardstock and a stencil and inks to make a sky. All the brads are of course from Eyelet Outlet.

It's an EO Rainbow

Would this be a good time for some Eyelet Outlet Brads, arranged by color? If so, here are some fab brads that are Pink, Green, Grey and Orange; and there's some coordinating EO Washi Tape, as well.

The brads on each of my 5 x 3.5" cards are as follows:

PINK: A Tiara from the Crown and Tiara set, a Flamingo, a Colored Daisy, an Easter Egg, some Flip Flops, two happy porkers from the Pig and Sheep set, a Heart Brad and a Cupcake Swirl; plus a bit of Unicorn Tape and Pink Dots Washi.

GREEN: There's a lovely base of a newer wide Grass Washi, on which we have a Frog and some Cat Tails from the Frog Set, a Tractor Brad, a Chameleon from the Reptiles set, some Beer, green Thread, and a pair of lovely Summer Trees.

A farm scene wouldn't be complete without a tractor, and Eyelet Outlet had me covered with a cute little tractor brad as well as a nice tree brad.

HERO

Today's card entitled "HERO" features Eyelet Outlet brads and is the third card of a six-card series highlighting words we have come to know during this historic time.  HERO?  Don't we all know that word already?

Yes, however, what we have come to know very quickly is a new definition for the word HERO.  No longer is this word reserved for the person saving the life of another drowning or the firefighter pulling persons from a building on fire.  It is now a much broader definition and includes:  farmers who continued getting food to market during lockdown, front-line medical personnel going far beyond their normal responsibilities, the grocery worker accepting the risk by coming to work so we can purchase food, the sanitation workers also working through the lockdown.  Let's not forget teachers and so many others whose work changed dramatically in a quick fashion and benefitted so many.  The Maya Angelou quote says it so eloquently.

The Eyelet Outlet brads displayed throughout the quote remind us of some of the heros we have today.  The word 'hero' has a line of clear jewel strips on the left-hand side of the letter.  First I added red-line tape on the left-hand side of the letter, added the Eyelet Outlet Jewel Strip, then dipped the letter in extra fine silver glitter to fill in the gaps on the tape that the jewel strip did not fill.  The effect is so beautiful....give it a try!

I'm Pulling For You

Some days are an uphill battle, so send someone you love some encouragement today with a cute card using Eyelet Outlet tractor brads.

The sentiment for my card comes from the Cricut's "Just Because Cards."  The hay bales that I put on my trailer are from Cricut's "County Fair" image set. 

I love the Eyelet Outlet cow brads.  Today our cow looks like he's definitely pulling for the tractor driver to bring her that hay bale!  😀  I've also used a couple of Eyelet Outlet tree brads on my card - the pine tree brad as well as one of the summer tree brads.  Breaking up the green hillside landscape, I used a wide dotted green washi tape with a skinny washi tape in lighter green dotted pattern on top of it.

If I Only Had a Brain

When I saw Eyelet Outlet's new Scarecrow brad, I immediately thought of that famous scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz and began humming his cute little tune, "If I Only Had a Brain!"  The next thing you know I had a card idea!

I created the border for my card with a corn stalk image from Miss Kate's Cuttables and then added the Eyelet Outlet Tractor brad which pairs so nicely with the scarecrow.  Now I just need to forget someone's birthday and I'm ready with a card!  LOL!

It's Fall, Y'all!

I'm not sure that's possible, but my (Lauren's) calendar indicates we are into the LAST week of September somehow? This seems like a good time for some fall cards, especially since the new Scarecrow Brads have just made their debut in the Eyelet Outlet Store!

Here's a shocking true confession: I don't actually like scarecrows!!! But these Scarecrow Brads are so adorable, they've even won me over! Something else I realized as I sat down to make my first card... I had never used the Tractor Brads that came out in the spring release. So this seemed like a good time to remedy that. I like the way the Pumpkin Brad looks super huge when it's placed on the trailer. Just goes to show you what a good job those scarecrows did over the summer! I found some plaid patterned paper with exactly the right colors and diecut the word "FALL" from cardstock I had covered with this awesome Sparkle Copper Tape.

My second card features handcut letters from scraps of that plaid paper. But of course you could use stickers, diecuts or computer-generated text. The oversized text gave me so much extra room I was able to include all the brads from the first card PLUS a trio of Sunflower Brads! Oh and you'll notice that there are two color variations in the Tractor Brads!

My third card shows off the Sunflower Brads again, as well as another pumpkin, two varieties of Paper Flowers and some fun Hardwood Floor Tape; not to mention letters diecut from Script Washi.

It's In My Jeans

I live in the midwest, where it's impossible to ignore farming. It's all around me. Cows. Corn fields. Barns. Grain elevators that reach to the sky. 

This year hasn't been good to the farmers here. The rains came and came and came when they needed to be planting. Then when they finally got the crops in the fields, drought. It's yet to be determined what harvest will be like.

Even with the adversity, they don't give up. After all, farming is in their jeans genes.

Loads of Love

The new tractor and trailer brad set reminded me of the farming community where I grew up.  This time of year rigs like this one could be seen hauling freshly bailed hay, but today my little trailer is full of brightly colored enamel hearts!

I also used Eyelet Outlet cloud washi tape and some skinny washi.  I used the writing feature on my Cricut machine to write my sentiment on this tag.  

The tractor and trailer brad packages also include red and I borrowed from some different phrases I had to put together the sentiment on this version of the tag.

A Note from the Funny Farm

I've always held farmers in high regard; especially since my maternal grandfather was a farmer. Therefore I was really excited to see the farm-themed items in the new release at Eyelet Outlet - Farm Animal Washi Tape and Tracter Brads.
