Summer Picnic Basket

It's summer and that means it's time for picnics. My card today features a fun picnic basket decorated with EO brads and washi tapes.

The bow of this beauty was made with paper covered with Red/White Dot Washi Tape. The basket liner is made of Heart Washi Tape.

The basket is constructed with a stamp and die set. Once I put it all together, I added BBQ Brads, putting a grill on each side of the sentiment. I added two Mini Ant Brads and a red hot pad from the Cooking Brads.

The top of the basket is embellished with a pull made of the Red/White Dot Washi Tape. A  6 mm red jewel brad secures it to the basket top. It adds just a bit of sparkle!

You're Import-ANT

I did a version of this card a few years ago, but had an idea to take it a step further so today I'm bringing you an updated version.

I've been enjoying this offset fold on this card base because it gives me an opportunity to add some fun to the inside of the card that shows when the card is closed, too. I used our wonderful green grass washi tape on the front and a trail of mini ant brads climbing up for some goodies from the picnic basket. I also added a small heart brad to my sentiment.

The inside is where I changed this version up! I found some cute ants among my Cricut images and added Eyelet Outlet apple core brad and fried chicken leg brad to them! These two thieves are enjoying a fine lunch, aren't they?!

Our Eyelet Outlet fans are import-ANT to us! Thanks for stopping in today.

Picnic Time!

It's time for a picnic and I've got a great basket of goodies for it in today's card. The die used for this makes a picnic basket with a hidden message. The lovely pink check pattern featured as the lining is made with strips of Checked Washi Tape-Pink. It looks so great as the basket liner! To achieve this, just cover plain white cardstock with the washi tape and then cut it out with shape dies. On the front, I've used Wine Brads and Grape Brads. A Cherry Brad decorates the bow.

The hidden message slips out of the basket. I decorated it with Mini Ant Brads. The handles and the message tab are held in place with Pink Pearl Brads. They are perfect for any kind of outdoor theme but the picnic theme really makes them shine! This one is as fun to give away as it is to receive.

Bewitching Bugalow Luminary

Happy Saturday Everyone!!

Continuing with the cottage theme from last week, today we are introduced to the Bewitching Bungalow...oops...I mean Bugalow.

This charming Bugalow is the perfect place for any and all little bugs and their buddies to come play – day or night! If you look closely, you will see several visitors like the Ferris the Frog from the Frog Set Brads, Leonardo the Turtle from the Turtle Brads, Owl Capone from the Owl Brads, Gilbert the Gecko from the Reptile Brads, an army of ants marching from the Mini Ant Brads, a few buzzing bumblebees from the Mini Bee Brads and of course, a magical family a dragonflies from the Dragonfly Brads. All these adorable brads are available for you to add fun additions like these to your projects only at Eyelet Outlet.

To create the Bugalow, I used a template I had in my stash and just Stacyed it up!  On the roof and front panel, I used my favorite Jewel Bling Strips and Pearl Bling Strips were used on the sides and back.

The large flower was made with several White Paper Flowers that I water colored to get it an ethereal look.  In the center of the flower are five white Glitter Enamel Dots.

The grass and rows of flowers were die cut and then heat embossed several times to give it depth and dimension.

And it wouldn’t be a Stacy Strate Design if it didn’t do something extra!!!!  It lights up!  The roof lifts off where I’ve placed a battery-operated candle that shines beautifully through the velum windows.

Hope you enjoy!!

You're Import-ANT to are

We're finally starting to have some nice weather and that's turning my attention to picnic season, so today, I've got a little card for you that features the frequent, albeit, uninvited guests, at all picnics, ANTS!

The picnic basket is from the Cricut image library and it's nestled on to a strip of wonderful wide grass washi tape.  I love this tape so much!!  The mini ant brads are forming a trail to investigate what goodies they might find inside the picnic basket.  I used a couple of red and black enamel hearts on the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cute as a Bug

Happy Thursday, crafters!  Today I have a couple of cards that are cute as a bug!  It was hard to decide between Eyelet Outlet's mini ladybug brads and the mini ant brads, so problem solved!  I made two cards!

The magnifying glass is from Cricut's Classroom Icons image set.  I just love the little chubby fingers on this hand image which is from A Child's Year image set.  The smiling ladybug and wide eyed ant images are Miss Kate's Cuttable images and available in the Cricut image library. I used foil iron-on and my Cricut Easy Press for the sentiment.  I've really been having fun lately using iron-on materials on card stock!

I love the way the mini ant brad and mini ladybug brad look under the magnifying glass, don't you?  I embellished the smiling ladybug with Eyelet Outlet heart brads on her antennas and I used Eyelet Outlet eye brads on my big-eyed ant.  Those eyes really popped!!  He's holding an Eyelet Outlet enamel heart in his hands, too.

See all the Eyelet Outlet Bugs & Critters at EyeletOutlet.com!  Until next week, happy Valentine's Day!

3...2...1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!

In a few days, we'll be counting down the clock to the new year, 2020.  It's a time of celebration, fireworks, hope, family, friends, and setting resolutions for the year to come.

Today's shadow box card entitled "3...2...1...HAPPY NEW YEAR" captures some of those feelings with Eyelet Outlet's classic cars and red truck perched on a hill watching the fireworks emphasized with bling strips.  The fence features Eyelet Outlet's ladybug, ant, and bright flowers while the Eyelet Outlet silver glitter enamel dots are a finishing touch adorning the happy new year sign at the top of the card.

The floating 2020 sign is accomplished through the use of  heavyweight acetate and matches the fence made of silver glitter paper.  The box card is lined with fireworks paper and is created from a Stamps of Life die.  A hand-written note or sentiment stamp can be included on the back of the shadow box card.

This card will bring a smile to anyone young or old celebrating the new year  Head on over to the Eyelet Outlet site for the items you can include in your 2020 card.

A Penny For Your Thoughts

Or in this case, maybe better than a penny... Artist Trading Coins! I (Lauren) have been seeing these 2.5" circles of artsy fun all over social media, and I've been dying to try out the format. It turns out, they're VERY fun --and a bit addictive-- to make. Plus, Eyelet Outlet brads are absolutely the perfect sized embellishment. I made a set of six coins for my first time out, but I already know I'll be making more!

I've mentioned before that I come from a punny family, so I always have lots of random word play in my head. Since this is quite a small format (ATCoins are generally 2.5" circles) just a line or two of text is the perfect fit. I formatted my puns in a free font called "Tahoe" but set off a few key words in a chunky, funky script called "Cry Kitty". I generally print my text on clear inkjet labels, which I trim down and adhere to scraps of patterned paper for a little more emphasis. I made the backgrounds using scraps of more neutral papers, in torn layers, with an accent of Wide Flower Tape in an understated henna shade.

For "All's WOOL That Ends WOOL" I was able to employ both a sheep from the Pig and Sheep set, plus a ball of yarn and needles from our Knitting Brads, while a pair of lovely Chicken Brads illustrate "Just WING It".

This one's a bit of a liberty, because I've actually used a Llama Brad on my "ALPACA" card... so shhhhhhhhhh... don't tell, ok? I couldn't resist adding a couple of Mini Ant Brads because it's a picnic!

I couldn't decide which style of Fox Brad (the packets contain both) to use for "Crazy Like a FOX" so I didn't choose... I added one of each!

Another tiny cheat: technically, these are Duck Brads, but I just couldn't resist the phrase "I've Got GOOSE Bumps"!

My original idea for "Don't Worry, Be HOPPY" was to use one of our adorable Frog Brads (the set has lillies and cattails in it, too!) but as it turned out, all of the other coins were more or less neutral colors, and the bright green frogs realllllllly stood out. So I swapped them out for a pair of handsome Rabbit Brads, instead. I probably shouldn't leave them alone for long though...

I hope you'll be inspired to try your hand at a few Artist Trading Coins, starring some of *your* favorite Eyelet Outlet critters! ♥

loves a pun...
the more diabolical, the better!
