Thankful for Your Friendship

 This is a great time of year to remember what you are thankful for, especially as the year begins to draw to a close. This week's card is simple but it packs a punch in its color and basic shapes.

This card relies on color and texture for it's impact. The Thankful word is accented with all the things that remind us of fall. Sunflowers, a pumpkin, fall leaves and a scarecrow all give the fall vibes. Also used for some additional shine is skinny metallic stripe washi tape. 

The word is made with a clever stencil that allows you to overlap the letters. I placed it on metallic bronze paper with cardstock scallop borders. Let's face it though, it's the EO brads that really make this card special.

Joy Sparkle and Shine!

 

Are you feeling a time crunch? Today's card is another "make it quick" card. Since you don't have a lot of time, let me get to the details on how this one was made!

I started with a premade cardstock sticker that said Joy. I knew this would be a great title for a card and built the rest of it around this. I created a white card base and then went to work adding interest and designs using washi tapes. This is a super fast way to create great backgrounds. I used Tree Winter Washi Tape on the top and bottom and then two strips of Skinny Striped Washi Tape after that. Next I used Green Patterned Glittered Washi tape to create a background for the Joy sticker. Then I placed alternating Red and Clear Jewel Bling Strips. On the ends of three of those strips, I place Holiday Light Brads. For the last step, I put double-sided foam tape behind the Joy sticker and placed it on the card. The end result is an elegant card full of shine and sparkle!

Peppermint Twist!

My husband was a radio DJ back in the late 60's and oldies tunes fill the air quite often in our home. Today's projects are inspired by one of those old songs, the Peppermint Twist!

I've been playing around with making rosettes lately to use on my Christmas wrapping. The fun part of rosette making is decorating the centers and I love the way these turned out!  So colorful and festive with Eyelet Outlet Peppermint Candy brads in every color!

These diamond rosettes are in the Cricut image library and are part of the Scoring Wheel Rosettes image set.  

Keeping with my sweet theme today, here's a Christmas card that is loaded with all kinds of SWEET Eyelet Outlet products!  In addition to the peppermint candy brads, I've used our brand new Gingerbread Washi Tape that is loaded with goodies!  There's candies and gingerbread men and candy canes on a lovely aqua background!  And it paired great with our red stripe foil washi tape, too!

I added a couple of our Christmas Cookie Brads, Lollipop Brad, Candy Cane Brad, and some Enamel Dots for colorful buttons on my ginerbread men.

Be a Pop of Color!

Eyelet Outlet has so many amazing shaped brads!  There are all sorts of birds and animals, flowers and trees, shoes and clothing!  You name it and we've got a brad for that!  Sometimes, though, I forget about the simple round ones, so today I'm bringing you a project using them.

Eyelet Outlet has round brads in every color, shape and size!  There are jeweled ones and pearl ones, too!  There are even some available in bulk!  Today I used some from the 1/8" Spring Brad Mix   and some from the 1/8" Summer Brad Mix to create this painter's pallet.  I used black and white skinny washi tape on 3 sides of my card, but then I decided to be daring and use this multi-colored stripe washi on the remaining side!  

Be sure to throw a couple of packages of Eyelet Outlet Round Brads in your cart before you check out!  When you use them, post a pic on Instagram and be sure to tag us!

Leaves!

When you're shopping Eyelet Outlet, don't leave without some leaves!  Our leaf brads are a must-have brad for any season!  Here are two cards I made with them, one featuring the Autumn colored leaves and one with bright spring green leaves.  These beauties come in two sizes - standard and mini. 

For my first card, I used both the standard size as well as the mini size leaves.  The water color trees are from Cricut's Photo Play-Autumn Day cartridge.  I also added a couple of strips of Eyelet Outlet's skinny washi tape.  

Next up, a similar card, only this time I changed seasons and used the beautiful green leaves with some water color clip art trees by Amalie Roepstorff's Etsy store.

Sunshine and Watercolor

It never ceases to amaze me (Lauren) how inspiration is everywhere! Last week I spotted a $2 stamp and embossing folder combo at a big box crafting store and realized that the cuuuute rainbow stamp was *EXACTLY* the right size to combine with our Eyelet Outlet Sun and Cloud Brads. So obviously I had to buy it, lol, right?!

You may have noticed that I often show a couple of similar projects in the same post, so I'll share one of my secrets with you: when I'm having trouble deciding between two ways to go, I'll start working on both ideas at the same time. In this case, my indecision was whether to paint the embossed rainbow panels with bright, full-strength shades of ColorBurst pigment powders, or to use diluted pastel versions. Often, when I'm in the process, one of the ideas will not work out, so I abandon it and keep going with the other. This time, I liked them both; so I was able to make two different cards.

To get the fun "white lines" effect on both cards, I used the rainbow embossing folder to texturize a panel of watercolor paper in the usual way, but before painting it, I rubbed across the raised bits with an ordinary white candle from Ikea to give it a very light coating of wax. That acts as a resist, so when you paint the watercolor on, it beads up on the raised parts... you can actually paint away quite messily and still get a really fun effect. For the dark version, I used full strength ColorBurst shades and let them air dry completely. For the pastels, I diluted the pigment with a little extra water, and then blotted the wet color with a tissue before it dried. In both cases, I completed the background/sky first and filled in the rainbows second. This seems counterintuitive, but it was a game-changer for me!

The vivid colors of the darker rainbows were a great match for this beautiful multicolor Striped Washi Tape, which I've flanked with a fun stripey pattern from the Rainbow Skinny Set on top of some notebook paper backed with plain white cardstock. I attached the Sun and Cloud Brads to my stamped and colored rainbow before cutting it out... thus I was able to leave a little extra cardstock behind the brads for support! This card is 4.75 x 6.25, to accommodate a slightly larger heart shape and "dilute" the darker colors with a little extra white space.

The pastel rainbows were soft enough to be a background for a typical A2 card, so this time I used a smaller heart shape from my leftover notebook paper, and added my Dymo Label sentiment right on top.

Hello and TGIF!  Susie Bentz here and this is my first time hosting the Eyelet Outlet blog. I hope there are some scrapbookers out there because I am sharing a fun and funky grid style page!  I absolutely love this style of scrapping because each little square is an opportunity to play!

My whole page was inspired by this gorgeous, wide Cactus Washi Tape. Water colored images are so popular and this tape nails it - so many gradations of color!  I chose a skinny pink striped washi to coordinate but there are many styles and colors to choose from at Eyelet Outlet!

I started with an 11.75" square of off-white cardstock which I centered on top of 12" black cardstock.  I created the grid with 4mm black Pearl Strips and began to add in the washi tape.  The cactus pattern repeats about every 8 inches so I used one long strip in the title area...

...and then I did a double layer of the tape in this square!  Since the tape is so transparent it was easy to see through it to line it up. The double layer makes those succulents just a little more vibrant!  I couldn't resist adding a little word bubble brad to my photo!

I used a mix of alphas from my stash for the title and then accented it with a camera brad from the Travel Brad set.

And yes, that cactus is wearing a pair of super cute yellow sunglasses!  (The Sunglass Brads pack also includes red, green and blue shades!)  I added a Pink Enamel Heart to the journaling block...

...and to this photo in the upper left.  I love dressing up my pages with all these fun brads, bling, enamel shapes and stickers!

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! It's Lauren here again, and in my opinion it's never too late to send a pretty Valentine out to someone special; or for that matter, to send an all-occasion greeting that just happens to have some hearts on it! I've used some of my favorite Eyelet Outlet Tapes, Enamel Dots and even some Balloon Brads to make a couple of cards that are all heart!

My first card was inspired by a layered heart die that I saw recently on social media. It's quite a new product though, and I haven't seen it in a store yet, which made me wonder if I could make my own version using a heart template and my trusty scissors. And it turned out that yes, I could!

After I traced the heart outline, I used the curves of the stencil to divide the shape into five segments that were more or less even, without being straight. Then I cut out around the heart. And finally, I cut the sections apart... but... I stayed just a scant 1/8" or so away from the dividing lines, so that there would be a bit of a gap between the segments when I reassembled them, without changing the shape or size of the heart.

I traced each of my finished heart sections onto a piece of plain white cardstock to which I had neatly applied strips of Pink Dot Washi, Orange Star Tape, Skinny Green Stripes, Blue Houndstooth Pattern Tape and Purple Dot Tape. I popped each segment up on foam tape and mounted them (with tiny gaps in between) on top of some texty patterned paper I made just for these cards. The text reads, "hugs & kisses & rainbow wishes" and is formatted in a free font called "Broach". I created a page that's white with black print and one that's black with white print. Both of these will be archived on our Freebies Page, so feel free to grab that to use on your own creations!

For my second card, I was thinking of the balloon bouquets my niece Riley has often received on her birthday, which just happens to be today--Valentine's Day! So those bouquets always had a heart balloon or two mixed in with some ordinary colorful balloons. I decided to recreate that look by diecutting small hearts from some of the leftover "tape papers" I had made for the first card --in this case Pink Dot Washi, Skinny Green Stripes and Blue Houndstooth Pattern Washi. I mixed the heart shapes with some of our Bright Balloon Brads and layered them all on top of my text paper, on which I machine stitched some balloon strings. I punched two small holes on either side of the stitched strings, threaded through some very skinny purple ribbon, and tied it into a bow at the front of the card.

I hope you will be inspired to take the hearts we all love on Valentine's Day and use them to spread the love all throughout the year! ♥

Are You Ready For Your Close-Up?

I (Lauren) never stop being amazed by the things that can inspire me. Eyelet Outlet Brads and Washi Tape are an endless source, obviously, but this week I found some cool new ways to use them, thanks to a $2 camera stamp from the bargain bin at a big box crafting store!

My first idea was to pair the camera with the Selfie Brad set. I love that the packets contain six smart phones and six "Selfie" badges, and that the phones come in a few different colors. Although obviously, my favorites are the pink ones, lol! That being the case, I paper pieced the camera stamp in some neutral grey papers with an accent of Skinny Stars Washi. I used a Pink Heart Enamel for the lens and a Pink Enamel Dot for the button, with a small clear gem as the flash.  

My next idea happened because when I made the "Beach" card a couple of weeks ago, I had a pineapple-- with adorable Sunglass Brad--  and a palm tree all ready to go, but wound up not needing them. Somehow they became the stars of their very own faux polaroid, with a sky made from Blue Dots Washi and torn Glitter Gold Tape as the sandy beach. Of course I needed a Sunshine Brad and I paper pieced another camera, this time using Skinny Green Stripe Washi with Yellow Enamel Heart and Dot accents. 

Faux polaroids are quite a favorite of mine, so my third card uses another one. The sentiment "Oh Snap" works really well for anything from a belated birthday to a get well card, so I kept the rest of the embellishments pretty simple so that it could be used for many different occasions. I used the leftover pieces from the first grey camera, but this time I used Red Enamels and Skinny Clouds Tape to accent the body. I "matted" the strip of camera-patterned paper with Glitter Silver tape, just to make it stand out a tiny bit more. I actually had the whole card put together when I spotted another pair of Sunglass Brads sitting on my work table, and I just couldn't resist adding them as well. 

The next time you have trouble choosing between more than one card idea, why not get out your Eyelet Outlet embellishments and make them all?!
