From the Herd

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today!  I always look forward to spending my Saturdays with you.

Old McDonald may have had a farm, but he can't hold a candle to what Eyelet Outlet's got!  That's right; their new fall collection includes  Cow & Goat, Sheep & Pig, and Rooster Brads!  A veritable herd!  They're in the store now, so be one of the first to get them!

And here's the card I made:

I used all the new barnyard animal brads plus I added the chicken, a pastel balloon, and the sun and clouds brads.  Here's a close-up so you can get a better look at them.  Check out that detail!

I call this a stand-up card, though I'm sure not that's the official name for this technique.  There's no card to open; the sentiment is on the reverse and the little fence holds the card upright.

To create the barn, I used a cut file from the Silhouette store.  I changed the size of the barn doors and created a center opening.

Three hay bales provide the backdrop for the sheep and cow and, true to form, the goat climbed to the top.  The little pig brought a balloon to the birthday celebration.  It's attached with a single strand of black embroidery floss.  And the rooster is overseeing everything!

The fence was created just by welding a few rectangles together and adding a tab on the end so I could attach it to the back of the barn.  It works well as support for the card and an excellent spot for the chicken to strut her stuff!

To pair with the greeting on the front, this is the sentiment I created on the back:

There are so many ways to use these barnyard animals!  My head is spinning with ideas; so stay tuned for more cards featuring them.

Thank you for spending time with me today!  Hope to see you soon.

WAIT

Hi, it's Kim from Katydid Cards.

I'm waiting patiently for the new brad releases due in the Eyelet Outlet store in April.  Truth be told, I'm champing at the bit as I've seen sneak peeks of them and they are fabulous!  In the meantime, I want to share I card I made with one of the equally fabulous brads from the fall release, the Pig & Sheep Brads.

Isn't he the cutest l'il pig?  And he sure is happy standing in that pile of...

 I don't think he's so happy now!

This is a double slider card.  Believe it or not, the hidden slider mechanism is a strip cut from a plastic grocery bag.  The panels are strategically attached to the strip, so when you tug on the pull tab, it slides both sides out.

The pig is sitting on his puddle cut from Early Espresso cardstock which I coated with Glossy Accents.  He's situated on a double mat cut from a file purchased in the Silhouette store.  I found a snappy plaid to match and embossed it with the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder

The pull tab was created by folding a piece of satin ribbon to match the cardstock and attaching it to the sliding panel with two white brads from the Winter Eyelet Mix.

I really enjoy the animal brads.   Here's the adorable card using a number of them...in fact, the whole herd.  Next week I'm sharing a card using the other brad from this pack, the sheep.  I hope you come back to see it.

Greetings from the Herd tri-fold

Hello, Eyelet Outlet fans! I hope you've had a great week! Leslie here, sharing a fun tri-fold good luck/congratulations card featuring our Animal Stamp Set along with our Cow & Goat Brads, Pig & Sheep Brads, Horse/Pony Brads and Wide Sky Washi Tape! This was definitely a fun one!

I cut a standard A2 size side-folding card base from white cardstock along with a layering panel which I covered with Wide Sky Washi Tape and a green cardstock pasture. I added die cut grass and a hand-cut fence to keep the herd in, lol! ;) I added the Cow & Goat BradsPig & Sheep Brads, and Horse/Pony Brads to complete the front of the card.

I cut the inside panel from white cardstock along with a layering panel from dark green cardstock, and embellished it with a section of die cut grass, a green cardstock pasture and a Cow Brad. I stamped the sentiment in dark green ink and layered the panel on the dark green cardstock.

I cut a second white cardstock panel along with a folded panel from the dark green cardstock (to fashion the third fold), stamped another sentiment in dark green ink and adhered the panel on the inside.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time!

Have you HERD?!

Eyelet Outlet has just released a fun line of rubber stamps to coordinate with our brads! Oh and speaking of brads, we're got a bunch of brand new ones! Hi guys, it's Lauren here again. All of the above made their debut at this weekend's trade show in Detroit, and will be added to the online store very soon, but meanwhile here's a sneak peak of just a couple new things: The Animal Stamps which feature sentiments which pair perfectly with our adorable farm animal brads, and the newest addition to the farm family, Horse and Pony Brads:

You can see that I've also added in some of the other farm animals: Cow and Goat Brads, plus a Sheep from the Pig and Sheep set. I've stamped the "Greetings from the Herd" sentiment on some woodgrain paper and added a Sun and Cloud Brad just slightly behind it, to finish off the little landscape scene.

The Animal Stamp set features five awesome sentiments that go perfectly with all of the cool farm animals we already have. It also has a cow stamp and a goat stamp, based on the brads of the same names, so there are endless possibilities for using each on their own. Or even better, together! There are more stamp sets on the way, as well, including ones that coordinate with our Fan BradsCoffee Brads and... my favorite... Donut Brads!

The Horse and Pony Brads come in a set of 12 that features both light and dark brown adult horses and some utterly adorable foals that coordinate well with either or both!

Be sure to check back here at the Eyelet Outlet blog frequently over the next few weeks because the designers will be featuring more of the new spring releases and you'll definitely want to stay tuned for that!

suspects she likes working on farm cards more than
she would enjoy working on an actual farm! :)

Happy Birthday from the Herd!

TGIF crafty friends!  Susie here with a pop up box birthday card featuring one of Eyelet Outlet's new clear stamp sets!

The Animal Stamps set is the perfect companion to some of the most popular brads from Eyelet Outlet!

I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment on the front panel of the card and pulled out a few cow brads to represent my "herd".  I attached the brads to hand cut hills in the front of the card.  The cow in the back right is actually attached to a piece of clear plastic that I attached to the inside of the card.

I stamped the birthday sentiment on the back panel and added a few of the new Summer Tree Brads to my "pasture".

This dimensional and interactive card was created using a die and it is designed to fold flat and fit in an A2 envelope!

You can see all of the newly released stamp sets HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you  find some time to play today!  Susie

Are you CURED yet?

Living in the Midwestern farmland, I love all of the fun farm animal brads from Eyelet Outlet.

I gathered the entire herd of Farm Animal Brads together for this fun birthday card using sentiments from My Favorite Things The Whole Herd.

I couldn't find a fence die or punch in my stash, so I created a birthday-fence using a Stampin' Up Candle Border Punch.  It's hard to pick a favorite, but I love that little piggie.

I used more of those cute little piggie brads for my next card.

I grounded my piggies with some fun skinny grass washi tape.  Sentiments are from the same MFT The Whole Herd Set.

The new brads will be in the store very soon.

Born to Stand Out

Good Afternoon Crafty Friends!  Susan here, bringing you a card featuring one of Eyelet Outlet's latest releases, the Llama Brad.

Here in Central Texas it is common for ranchers to use guard llamas to protect their livestock from predators such as coyotes.  I often sit on my porch with my morning coffee and watch one such llama with her herd of goats across the road.  She's a magnificent creature and inspired my card today because she truly DOES stand out!

I drew the llamas in the background with my Cricut Explore from an image in the Cricut image library.  The focal point of my card, the detailed Eyelet Outlet Llama Brad, is attached to the green circle and pop dotted so that it definitely stands out among the drawn llamas.

Wishing You a DAZZLING Birthday

I learned a new thing recently! I learned that a herd of zebras is sometimes referred to as a DAZZLE! My stash of Eyelet Outlet zebra brads came immediately to mind and so I made a dazzling birthday card!

I used images from the Cricut Design Space to create this card and then added the wonderful dazzle of  zebra brads on the front.  For the inside, I used my Cricut on the washi tape setting to cut some stars out of Eyelet Outlet silver glitter washi tape.  The sparkle of the tape really added to my dazzling theme!

Thanks for stopping in today!  I hope your day is dazzling!

Party 'Til the Cows Come Home

Today I'm having fun with the very realistic chicken brads.

I started with a fun little farmyard scene where the animals are planning a party (stamps are from My Favorite Things The Whole Herd).

Looks like they'll be having a good time.

Next I added some chickens to another die-cut barnyard scene.

One trick I use when I want the paper to lay flat without the brad legs underneath the paper ... I snip the brad pieces off the back and use part of a 3-D glue dot to attach my chickens for a bit of dimension.

I finished with a few white enamel dots on the center of the flowers.

More Pun With the Herd!

These cow brads (well, all the animals from down on the farm!) just crack me up!  There are all kinds of funny, punny sayings to go along with them so you can really stretch their mileage in your card-making.  If you are like I am, you have goofy friends who appreciate this "roll-your-eyes" kind of humor!

Christmas around our house means extra "moo-sical" opportunities, so here's a little milk chocolate appreciation for the extra effort!  There are green rhinestone notes, some gold glitter washi tape sparkle, and of course, another cow brad.

Happy Friday!
