Have a Wild Birthday!

I love that no matter the theme, Eyelet Outlet has the topic covered. Today is a perfect example. I wanted to do a jungle themed card because I have a great stamp set in that theme. And of course Eyelet Outlet had the perfect brads and washi tape for what I had in mind.

I started by applying Giraffe Washi Tape on a kraft 4" x 5 1/4" panel in strips until it was covered. To get smooth edges, I folded over the raw tape edges to the back of the panel. Then I wanted to create circles to hold the elephant, giraffe and ape brads from the Jungle Mix Brad Set. I covered a small piece of white cardstock with Safari Foil Washi tape and cut 3/4" circles out of it. Then I set one of the animal brads in each circle. 

The next steps were to cut the sentiment pieces and heat emboss them with black and white embossing powders. I cut a long rectangle out of a piece of jungle leaf cardstock I had on hand and a 1" strip out of green metallic papers using my deckle edge cutting blade. I stacked these together on the right side of the card. On top of that, I attached the rest of the pieces. I thought the lower left corner looked a little bare so I stamped and cut out a couple tropical plants from the same jungle stamp set that I got the sentiments from. Any jungle-looking die cut or stamp would work for this.

I hope you enjoyed a tropical themed card after all the Christmas projects. I know it felt pretty good to do something a little different for a change.

It's a Jungle Out There...

...but here on the Eyelet Outlet Blog I (Lauren) am WILD about zoo-themed journal cards paired with our Lion, Tiger and Zebra Brads, not to mention their adorable friends, the Elephant, Giraffe and Monkey Brads. Oh and there are some awesome coordinating tapes, too. See?

I've mentioned before how much I love journaling cards, they are really hard to beat for quick, beautiful designs. This particular set, from Photoplay's "We Bought a Zoo" collection is especially fun and perfect with both the original Jungle Mix Brads as well as the second Jungle-themed set. For my first card I cropped the journal card down a bit to remove a (very cute) monkey image so that I could add a Monkey Brad instead. I made a fun coordinating background by neatly lining up strips of Safari Tape on plain white cardstock to make my own custom patterned paper.

On the "Wild One" card, some handsome Elephant and Giraffe Brads are greeting a very regal Lion Brad. I made a mat from glorious Sparkle Copper Foil Tape and another bespoke patterned paper background using a beautiful Sunset Safari Tape that's so new it isn't quiiiiite in the store yet!

The "Wild Side" journal card was 4 x6" so I needed to trim it down a bit. I added a strip of Safari Tape across the bottom and added a mat made from beautiful Leopard-ish Animal Print Tape, then added a Monkey Brad, as well as a Zebra and a Lion.

Never forget: if you don't have time to MONKEY around, EO Jungle Brads and coordinating tapes make cardmaking a ROARING success... and I ain't LION! :) :) :)

Just because Valentine's Day has passed doesn't mean you can't give your honey a special card showing how you feel! In fact, I believe giving a sweet card out of the blue and for no particular reason is even more special!

Eyelet Outlet's Jungle Mix Brad set is awesome for your Zoo layouts (see one I did here), but they're also fun for use on cards!  As soon as I saw the new Safari Washi Tape, I knew I'd have to create something with it.  I'm always attracted to black and white color schemes with a pop of color!  Cricut just happened to have a similar tree as the one on the washi tape on their "Tree Silhouettes" image set, too! And this zebra print from Huckleberry Hearts Safari Animal Prints Digital Paper collection was a perfect pairing for my black and white color scheme.
