Deer Crossing

Hi!  Kim from Katydid Cards with you today! I'm always happy to be sharing an Eyelet Outlet project with you.

Relatively new in the Eyelet Outlet store are the Prancing Deer Brads.  I paired them with the Deer Brads and the Sun & Cloud Brads to make a card which I hope brings a smile to the face of its recipient.  I have to admit, it makes me smile; but then I always crack myself up with my own silliness.

I made the winding roadway by tracing some free clip art I found.  It's two layers, the white "lines" peeking through the opening in the black layer.  I placed that on the hills of three shades of green.  The hills are just circles and ovals, cut to fit the card of Soft Sky cardstock.  The Deer Crossing sign was also clip art which I converted to a print and cut.

Then came the fun part when I got to place the deer on the side of the road...and Simon making his own rules.  This brings back a fond memory of my Dad saying (every single time we saw a deer crossing sign), "I wonder how the deer know to cross here?"  He'd laugh at his own joke every time...now you know I came by it naturally.  We would just roll our eyes.

And the one deer comments Simon's errant ways, saying how he "buck's the system".  See what I did there?  Dad would be proud!

Inside, a sentiment to continue with the theme.

Another "animal" brad I particularly like is the Chicken brad and now the store has the companion Rooster brad.  If you missed it, here's a card I made using both.

Thank you for visiting with me today.  I love you all "deerly" ;-)

Turn That Frown

Happy Saturday! And welcome to anyone visiting us at CKC - Lancaster this weekend!

This is Rebecca, and today I’m coming to you from the road. I had the chance to get away and spend the weekend with family in my hometown, so we’re enjoying some R&R on the farm. Anyone else finding the summer is just flying by at too fast of a pace?! I need these couple of days in the country to sloooooow down.

I had to finish my card here on location, so I thought I’d take the picture with my favorite view :). You can’t frown on a night like this!

A Pink & Main alphabet set was used for the sentiment stamping.

Wherever you are, have a great weekend, and no frowns allowed!

Hit the Trails with Boot Print Brads!

TGIF crafty friends!  Susie here and today we are going a little off the beaten path!  Eyelet Outlet recently released a new set of Boot Print Brads and they are perfect for cards and scrapbook pages about hiking or nature trails!  Time to play...

The Boot Print Brads come 12 in a package with a selection of white or black boot prints.  The background of the Boot Prints are white.  I chose the black pattern and decided I wanted to make mine look like they had spent some time on the trails.  I used Nutmeg ColorBox Blends to dab on a bit of "dirt"!  You can see the difference in this picture - instant grunge!

To make it easy for me to alter the brads, I stuck them in a bit of styrofoam.  I inked them up, added clear embossing powder and then applied heat to set.

I applied Leaf ColorBox Blends through a stencil to create a simple background. I also distressed the card with scissors before inking the edges with Nutmeg.

I stamped in a compass rose and a sentiment, added a die cut word and then placed the altered Boot Print Brads.  The finishing touch was just a bit of Skinny Washi Tape.

You can find all of the newly released brads HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find some time to play today!  Susie

Christmas in July-Week 4

Time to wrap up my Christmas in July posts with a card featuring this cute little guy!  He's the Eyelet Outlet Snowman Brad.  I always say, "this brad's my favorite," but this time I really mean it! ;)  The Snowman Brad is adorable!!

I started out with a black and white gingham paper and then added three panels.  I drew the snowflakes on the panels with my Cricut using an image from the Cricut Photo Fun Holiday Memories cartridge.

My little scene was created by pairing the Eyelet Outlet Snowman Brad, Eyelet Outlet Pine Tree Brad, and Eyelet Outlet Snowflake Brad.

Thanks for joining me for Christmas in July this month!  If any of you are in the Houston area, come by the Eyelet Outlet Booth at the Creating Keepsakes Show in The Woodlands August 10 & 11!  Maybe we'll meet, because I'm planning to attend!

I Can Never Resist a Pun...

...and seemingly the more diabolically bad the pun is, the less I can resist it! Hi guys, I'm sure you're already guessed it's Lauren here. This week's card may set the record high (or low, depending on how you look at it?) for puns: "Just CHICKEN in", hahahaha! Ok, sorry, but it made me laugh and gave me an excuse to break out my adorable Eyelet Outlet Chicken Brads and Rooster Brads, so obviously it had to be a card.

As soon as there is any kind of farm theme, I want to break out the red gingham... so I did. I considered making an entire landscape for the Chicken and Rooster to inhabit, but I wanted the sentiment to stand out most, so I abbreviated down to just the diecut fence, grass and clouds, on a tag. I think you still get the feeling of a scene, but without too much detail.

I dotted the "i" with a Heart Pearl, and placed my chipboard letters pretty randomly, for a casual look. I attached the Chicken and Rooster directly to the fence panel, then raised it up on foam tape for a little extra dimension.

Don't like constructing your own sentiments? Check out our new line of EO Clear Stamps! They're full of fun (and punny!) greetings for all occasions, and designed especially to work with so many styles of our fun Brads!

comes from a family who love
puns as much as she does.

Beautiful Ride

It's Kim from Katydid Cards!  Happy to be here with you today.

Today I'm sharing a card made using the Kitty Brads, Book Brads, Stitched Flower Brads, and Mini Bee Brads.  And I have to say, I think the combination is just adorable and puts a smile on my face.  I'm going to have a difficult time giving this one away ;-).

I the kitty, flower, and bee brads as staples in my collection as they work so well when creating scenes on my cards.  I'm also sure to keep the Sun & Cloud Brads, Puppy Brads, Candle Brads and several more on hand.

The kitties and books are sitting on a Simon Says Stamp coordinating stamp & die set called, "Beautiful Ride".    Those kitties look so comfy, don't they?  I colored the image with Copic markers and sponged inside the wheels so it blended better with the background.

Speaking of the background, the card base is cut from Bashful Blue cardstock and embossed with the Cloudy Day embossing folder.  The grass has been cut from Cucumber Crush cardstock using a cut file purchased in the Silhouette store.  Here's a closer look at the brads.

And here's the inside of the card where I continued the sentiment with another little kitty for good measure.  I created it combining Angelina and Alex Brush fonts, color matched to the cardstock for a tone on tone look.

I hope you liked my card.  I'll see you soon with another new project.

Magical Birthday

Hi Friends! kel here today to share a magical birthday card!

I had this one round shaped pair of glasses from the Eyeglass Brads set sitting on my desk and had a DUH moment, thinking of making it into a magical birthday card for my Potter-loving son!! His birthday isn't for a while, but I know he has other friends who are into the books too, so I figure it's always good to have a stash on hand!!

I paired it with some star washi from the Eyelet Outlet Store. I used the beautiful Black and Gold Foil Washi and some wide star washi tape to create my background. I love how simple it was to put together the background and how the gold and black just pops off the page!

Super fun magical birthday card!! I loved being able to use up some beautiful washi too!! Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon!!
