The ABC's of EO... Part 3

Here are the next five cards in our Eyelet Outlet Brad Alphabet. This set takes us from L to S, with lots of adorable brads along the way.

Today's brads, allocated to each card are:

L: (Holiday) Lights, Lizards from the Reptile Brad set, the Lighthouse from the Boat and Lighthouse set, Lions from the Lion, Tiger, Zebra set, sequel to the popular Jungle Mix.

M: Mailbox from the Mail Brad set, Monkeys from the Jungle Mix, Mrs. Claus from the Santa and Mrs. Claus set, a Mood (technically an Emotion Brad) in a Mask from the CoVid-inspired Mask, Hand Sanitizer and Soap Brads, a Mower from the Lawn Mower Brad set (which is on sale!) and a stately Moose.

N: (Music) Notes, Navigation aka a Compass Brad, Navy (technically a Sailboat from the Boat and Lighthouse set with an Anchor Brad), a stack of Novels which we actually call Book Brads, and a Nutcracker.

O and P: The handsome Owl is known as a Sketched Owl (there are also Owl Brads and Winking Owls... both of which are on sale!), Ornament Brads are also on sale, and the Oven Glove is from the Cooking Brad set; the super-cute Paw Brads are one of two styles, a Party Hat is always a good idea (just ask the Birthday Sock Monkeys) and the Pipe Brad is part of a cool set that your Dad (or handy Mom) would love!

Q and R: Our Crown and Tiara Brads are fit for a Queen, the cute Quackers technically are called Duck Brads and the Quilting supplies are a combination of Thread and Scissor Brads (you need to get creative when it comes to the more challenging letters, lol!); a Rainbow from the Unicorn and Rainbow set, the Ring hails from our Wedding Brads and finally a handsome Rooster.

We're getting towards the end of the Alphabet... next week we'll wrap up with the letters S through Z!

can reveal that the EO Alphabet
will end with "Zebra"!

It's Been a Long, Long Time...

...since I (Lauren) have made a scrapbook layout! But my niece Maddie turned sixteen last week, and since a party (or any other social activity) was obviously out of the question, my sister came up with the idea of compiling a surprise scrapbook. She sent blank pages, a few supplies and postage-paid return envelopes to family and friends, and got back unbelievably beautiful and touching results. I was surprised, not only how many ideas I had... but how many of my ideas involved Eyelet Outlet Brads! Here's maybe my favorite of the pages I made:

I love using brads as a frame on cards, but it turns out they're even cooler around a photo! I took this picture of Maddie and her Nana (who also happens to be my mom!) in 2004, when Maddie was one day old, and it is still a favorite. To surround it, I chose brads and bling that either had a baby theme, or were pink, or both. I've got Heart Brads, Teddy Bears, Safety Pins, Ducks, a Colorful Lady Bug, a Butterfly, Flower Jewels, Heart Pearls, and tiny Pearl Bling.

One of the great things about making a scrapbook for an older kid in the year 2020 is that they (and their parents) have their own social media feeds, full of pictures you know they like. So it's possible to do a bit of lurking and photo-stealing, to get shots you might not have thought to take! This beautiful selfie records the day that Madeline got her braces off. As soon as I saw that smile --and the white space above her head-- I started thinking "thought bubble". I used a combination of stickers and brads to make a little collage of a few happy things I thought she might be thinking about, like school, treats, the beach, etc. I scattered a Computer Brad, Spring Bubble, Selfie Brad, Light Bulb, Scissors, Sun and some Mini Emotion Brads around my sticker sentiment, #Sixteen.

Whether you make layouts or cards, Eyelet Outlet has the perfect embellishments for all of your projects. Check out the huge selection of Brads, Bling, Sequins, Washi Tape and more!

Farmyard Animals on a Sunny Day

My grandparents were farmers and I have many fond memories of spending time with them on the farm. They were a small operation that did not specialize in one thing. No, they had cows (milk cows and beef), hogs, chickens, and a even some cats and dogs. My sister's horse was kept at their farm, too. It was quite the menagerie and that's part of what made it so fun to spend time there.

I've tried to recapture those memories with the card I created for today's blog post.

Eyelet Outlet Brads:

I used Washi Tape from Eyelet Outlet to create the blue sky and green grass in the background of my card. Eyelet Outlet has an amazing variety of Washi Tape and its potential is only limited by our ability to think outside the box. I'd suggest you look at the Washi Tape in the Eyelet Outlet store with new eyes - thinking of ways you can use it creatively.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Let me leave you with one word of Barnyard advice that my grandfather often told me -

Watch where you step!

Down on the Farm (part two)

Last Autumn I (Lauren) made a set of Farm Animal Artist Trading Cards to celebrate the release of our adorable Eyelet Outlet Cow and Goat, Pig and Sheep and Rooster Brads. Recently it occurred to me that I'd left out the Duck Brads and it was a shame the Horse and Pony Brads hadn't been available yet. So I thought I'd go back and fill in the blanks!

ATC's are traditionally the size of a standard playing card, which is 2.5 x 3.5". These ATC's are, in fact, built on top of actual playing cards. Because they are quite sturdy, plastic coated, and really there isn't much else to do with a deck when you've lost or damaged one of the cards!

Each ATC in this set features a base of ledger paper, an appropriate dictionary definition, and a strip of Red Dot Washi plus some Skinny Gold Tape.

But the real stars are the Animal Brads, which I've framed up in some vintage slide mounts. You can build a little scene right on top of the image, but generally I remove the original photograph and adhere the cardboard mount to some sturdy patterned paper. Then I set my brads within the window, which is a perfect size to show them off!

In this second set I've featured the Horse and Pony Brads (which combine a mix of two colors of adult horse, plus adorable foals), Duck Brads, Llama Brads, Trout from the Trout and Bass Brads and Sketched Owls which I think are one of the prettiest designs we have.

I made all of the short, punny sentiments with my old school Dymo labelmaker, having recently found Dymo brand tape for sale at Target, of all places! (There are other brands of tape that fit the Dymo, but they don't all STICK like Dymo, and I'll never experiment again, no matter how pretty the colors are!)

I hope you'll be inspired to make some fun ATC's featuring your favorite Eyelet Outlet Brads and Washi Tape!

can be found here every Wednesday,
and on her own blog the rest of the week!

A Penny For Your Thoughts

Or in this case, maybe better than a penny... Artist Trading Coins! I (Lauren) have been seeing these 2.5" circles of artsy fun all over social media, and I've been dying to try out the format. It turns out, they're VERY fun --and a bit addictive-- to make. Plus, Eyelet Outlet brads are absolutely the perfect sized embellishment. I made a set of six coins for my first time out, but I already know I'll be making more!

I've mentioned before that I come from a punny family, so I always have lots of random word play in my head. Since this is quite a small format (ATCoins are generally 2.5" circles) just a line or two of text is the perfect fit. I formatted my puns in a free font called "Tahoe" but set off a few key words in a chunky, funky script called "Cry Kitty". I generally print my text on clear inkjet labels, which I trim down and adhere to scraps of patterned paper for a little more emphasis. I made the backgrounds using scraps of more neutral papers, in torn layers, with an accent of Wide Flower Tape in an understated henna shade.

For "All's WOOL That Ends WOOL" I was able to employ both a sheep from the Pig and Sheep set, plus a ball of yarn and needles from our Knitting Brads, while a pair of lovely Chicken Brads illustrate "Just WING It".

This one's a bit of a liberty, because I've actually used a Llama Brad on my "ALPACA" card... so shhhhhhhhhh... don't tell, ok? I couldn't resist adding a couple of Mini Ant Brads because it's a picnic!

I couldn't decide which style of Fox Brad (the packets contain both) to use for "Crazy Like a FOX" so I didn't choose... I added one of each!

Another tiny cheat: technically, these are Duck Brads, but I just couldn't resist the phrase "I've Got GOOSE Bumps"!

My original idea for "Don't Worry, Be HOPPY" was to use one of our adorable Frog Brads (the set has lillies and cattails in it, too!) but as it turned out, all of the other coins were more or less neutral colors, and the bright green frogs realllllllly stood out. So I swapped them out for a pair of handsome Rabbit Brads, instead. I probably shouldn't leave them alone for long though...

I hope you'll be inspired to try your hand at a few Artist Trading Coins, starring some of *your* favorite Eyelet Outlet critters! ♥

All My Ducks in a Row

Hi.  Kim from Katydid Cards here with a card made using the adorable Duck Brads.

I have several cards in mind using these, but the idea for this card just made me smile so, of course, I made it first!  I started with the digital patterned paper and matched it with Tangerine Tango and Bashful Blue cardstocks by Stampin' Up.  If you like them, get them while they are still available...they are deeply discounted now.

I wanted to give the plaid a bit of dimension, so I scored it on all the orange lines...it was subtle, but it did the job.  Then I sponged the edges of the plaid panel before attaching it to a larger mat.  The panel with the ducks looked a bit too plain, so I embossed that with the Argyle embossing folder.

Looks like your ho-hum average card, but upon closer look, you see the panel with the ducks is actually a flap which opens to say this:

And the statement continues on the inside.  Sad but true.

That wraps it up except to mention I added some yellow and white Baker's Twine to the end of the tab.

Hunting Season

Eyelet Outlet Duck Brads are perfect for the hunters in your life (or for beautiful outdoor scenes). Get them while you can! They are being discounted so we have room for new stock and styles!!

I combined them with beautiful papers from Hunter's Paradise by Designs by Reminisce.  I love the little guy perched on top of the sentiment sticker.

I'm always amazed at the beautiful level of detail on those small brads ... like little works of art.

Here's another using the bottom half of the same piece of 12" scrapbooking paper.

Keep an eye on the store for lots of soon-to-be released fall and winter designs.

Design Team Monday with Susie

Hello Eyelet Outlet Fans!

I wanted to share this sweet little baby card with you and show you how easy it is to make a linear card that still packs some punch, so out came the duck brads.  They are so bright and cheerful that they make the card pop.  On the smaller circles I used some yellow stippled jewel brads.  I just love the clean lines of this card with such cuties swimming across the front.

Now for card #2:

For this card, I kept the linear look, but added the cute puppy brads to the top left section of the card and the sentiment to the bottom right.  This card is just waiting to cheer someone who is having a "ruff" day.

I hope you like today's cards.
I am showcasing the first one on my blog today.
I welcome you anytime at The Dies Have It.
