Have A Koala-TY Birthday!

Today I've made a birthday card full of Koala-ty cuteness! I made this arch shaped A2 sized card with a birthday background stamp, starred vellum, and a Koala themed stamp set. I elevated it with all the fun brads that are birthday and koala themed. As a finishing touch, I added matte enamel dots in blue to the background.

A Sweet Cherry Pie Birthday Celebration

There is something inherently joyful about a card that moves. While a standard card is a lovely gesture, an interactive card is an experience. Today, I sat down at my craft desk to play with one of my favorite layouts: the Interactive Swing Card.

It’s such a whimsical style—as the recipient opens it, the center elements "swing" or flip, adding that perfect "wow" factor. For this project, I leaned into a theme of pure celebration: all things sweet and festive!

To bring this card to life, I focused on classic birthday icons—pie, balloons, and candles. Here is how the details came together:

  • The Main Attraction: In the first swinging circle, I featured a delicious-looking slice of cherry pie topped with a dollop of whipped cream. To give it a 3D pop, I used Glitter Enamel Dots and a Cupcake Swirl Brad as a garnish. It looks good enough to eat!

  • Up and Away: In the second circle, I placed three Balloon Brads. To tie them together, I hand-drew delicate black balloon strings and anchored them at the bottom with a Burnished Star Brad.

  • The Sentiment: No birthday card is complete without a wish! I embellished the sentiment with two Birthday Candle Brads to keep the theme glowing.

  • The Finishing Touch: I couldn't resist a little sparkle. I added Red Jewel Bling across the card to catch the light and add that final festive flair.

Swing cards are surprisingly sturdy despite their movement, and they provide the perfect "window" to showcase two different focal points. Whether it’s a slice of pie or a cluster of balloons, this layout keeps the viewer engaged from the moment they pull it out of the envelope.

Pro-Tip: When using brads on a swing card, make sure to flatten the prongs completely or cover them with a small piece of decorative paper on the reverse side to ensure a smooth "swing" every time!

Happy Birthday Card

Hello Crafty Friends - Today I am sharing a birthday card embellished with Eyelet Outlet brads and enamel dots.  Eyelet Outlet has super cute supplies to use on birthday cards.

I used a rectangle die to cut out the brown dotted background, then used a frame die to add a border.  I die cut the happy birthday sentiment out of shimmer cardstock.  Then I decorated the card with a donut brad, cupcake swirl brad, and ice cream brad.  The "i" in birthday is embellished with a glitter enamel dot.

Thank you for visiting the blog today.  I hope this inspires you to create a fun birthday card.  Please visit Eyelet Outlet for creative supplies and inspiration.

Devil or Angel

Here's a fun little birthday card using Eyelet Outlet's brand new Angel Brads and some of our Swirl Cupcake Brads.

The birthday girl is fighting with her conscience about whether to have one cupcake or two. I created this card in Cricut Design Space with images from the Cricut image library.

If you're a Cricut crafter, too, I've shared the file for this project on my Cricut profile

NOT Just for Cards!

Eyelet Outlet Washi Tape, Paper Flowers and Brads, that is. You can also use them to make customized gift bags, like this one. Just cover plain white cardstock with neat strips of tape (this variety is Happy Birthday Foil Washi)... print out an initial in your favorite font (this one's called Chicken Pie and was free on dafont.com)... trace and cut. Embellish with a few shades and sizes of Solid Color Paper Flowers held on with CandleParty Hat and Cupcake or Cupcake Swirl Brads. For even more color and pizazz, diecut hearts from a coordinating tape, like Pink Checked Washi and use one repeat of the Birthday Tape to create your sentiment strip. Scatter a few Round Sequins and you're good to go. And yes, all of the above looks pretty good on a matching birthday card, as well!

There are brads, tapes, flowers, sequins, bling and more for every style, theme or occasion you can possibly imagine in the EO Store... you should probably check that out!

now only buys plain gift bags!

Today I'm bringing you a little different twist on a typical box card. This is a box card tucked into a z-fold card. It's fun because it allows me to build a scene around it. This is a file from Silhouette called 3D Box Card Oven. There are lots of EO goodies in this card. Let's go through them!

Happy Birthday Cupcakes and Presents!

January is an important time at my house because it's my husband's birthday month. It's a tradition that his birthday card has a doxie dog on it. It began decades ago when our fur baby was a doxie. Our beloved Tigger has been gone a long time but he is always remember during Steve's birthday. Funny how traditions begin but that's the story behind ours.

I saw this ephemera piece in a paper pad I have in my stash and of course my head danced with all kinds of way to make this really special using Eyelet Outlet brads, washi tapes and bling. I love it and I think my husband will too! It's so easy to take something good and make it great with EO embellishments.
