Who Doesn't Love A Pinwheel?!

Who doesn't love a pinwheel?

 I sure do. They remind me of my childhood, playing out in the front yard, running as fast as I could and watching the wind spin the colorful pinwheel I had in my hand. With the weather warming up, I've been seeing pinwheels all over the place, which is what inspired me to create these five unique pinwheel themed cards. The best part about them is the fact that each pinwheel was made using washi tape instead of cardstock.

The first card is a Gnome themed card where I used the Gnome Garden Washi Tape and the Pink Checked Washi Tape for each individual square.  I embellished the squares with Pink and Blue Pearl jewel bling along with some Blue Bumpy Bling in the corners. In the center of the pinwheel is the cutest little Gnome Brad with a blue and white polka dot hat that accents perfectly to the rest of the card.

The next card was created using two different washi tapes to make the pinwheels, the Ocean Washi Tape and the Succulent Washi Tape each layered on each other. The corners are embellished with Green Jewel Bling and in the center of the pinwheel and close to the sentiment, are two Cactus Brads.

This next card just makes me smile looking at it. I love the colors I selected for the pinwheel which were the Flowers and Feather Washi Tape along with the Dark Blue Glitter Washi Tape.  I embellished the card with multiple Blue Bumpy Bling, two Bumpy Bling Hearts, multiple Yellow Enamel Dots and right in the center of the pinwheel is a Bright Yellow Balloon Brad.  Just makes me smile.

 

The fourth card I created, I used the Tulip Washi Tape along with the Glitter Chevron Washi Tape and added the large Stippled Jewel Brad in the center of the pinwheel. The pinwheel and the sentiment are outlined with Yellow Jewel Bling while the corners of the card have Blue Bumpy Bling and Yellow Jewel Bling.

 The final card turned out very pretty and it's probably my favorite. I used the Black and White Floral Washi Tape along with the Bee Washi Tape to create the pinwheel and added a Red Stippled Brad in the center. To create movement on the card, I added multiple sections of the Swirl Bling. This is a beautiful card and anybody that receives it will have a magical day.

Thanks to a huge selection of wash tapes and bling from Eyelet Outlet, I was able to create these five cards in a few hours and now I have them on hand just waiting for the perfect occasion to send.  I hope these inspired you to go create some pinwheel cards of your own.

Congrats - Made with Love and a Little Washi Tape

 I hear all the time that people don't know what to do with washi tape. I sympathize because I thought the same thing before I saw all the fantastic work from the Eyelet Outlet Design Team. Over time, I've really fallen in love with washi tape and from time to time, I like to make card that's almost nothing but washi. That brings me to today's card.

On this congratulatory card, I've used many different washi tapes! I enjoy mixing the different patterns while adding a little whimsy to it. Even the wood border is a wide washi tape that I put on a piece of cardstock before cutting it with a border maker. And of course, a little bling is absolutely necessary for any card from Eyelet Outlet! Here I used clear jewel strip bling to further accent the border and break up the vertical and horizontal lines of the washi tapes. See below for a list of all of them I used plus a couple Cocktail Brads for good measure! Take a look at your stash and make something similar or place an order to get tapes you think would go well together. I guarantee you'll enjoy it and maybe even surprise yourself!

The Elegant Birthday Card

The Elegant Birthday Card

Elegant. Opulent. Classic.

These words perfectly describe this breathtaking birthday card.

With the many die cut pieces highlighting the floral bouquet, the addition of the purple and blue pearl jewels from Eyelet Outlet add just the right amount of extra. The sentiment has four brown pearl jewels along with a dainty dragonfly whose soft purple and pink hues match the bouquet perfectly like they were made for each other.  

To me, the highlight of this card is the card base. That isn’t cardstock!  The base is made from 100% Flower and Feather Washi Tape! By carefully placing strips of washi tape, you can create any base you can dream of.  You are only limited to your imagination.

 

To finish the card, I added four sparkly 8mm cut jewels in purple to each corner.

Classically Elegant.

Who wouldn’t love to get this birthday card?

Hippo Get Well Card Kit

Hi, it's Kim from Katydid Cards and today I'm sharing the Hippo Get Well Card Kit, the second of three kits Eyelet Outlet will have available at trade shows.  If you missed last week's post, be sure to check it out.  This kit includes cards in three colors.  Here's a look at them:

A tutorial is provided with the kits, but here's a more in-depth explanation of how the cards go together, with step by step pictures.

Start by making the bed/card base:

Cover the white bed panels (headboard, footboard & 2 sides) with your favorite Washi Tape.

Fold the excess washi tape over the sides or trim with scissors. Take a moment to burnish the washi tape onto the panels using a bone folder or your thumb.  Set aside for now.

Attach base flap A to base B, making sure the A flap is underneath B. Be careful to line the score with the edge of the card.  This will ensure the card will lie flat for mailing.

Attach bed panels to the bed frame/card base.  Here's a diagram as well as pictures for you to follow in placing the inside and outside panels.

 

 

Attach the arched strip to the top of the bed and attach Pearl Bling Strip to it. We used 29 pearls.

Attach the Get Well Soon heart to the footboard and outline it with Pearl Bling Strip. We used 48 pearls.  Note: Trim the strip as necessary to make sharp turns.

Fold the bed frame card base on all score lines and burnish them with a bone folder or your thumb.

Attach flap C to base D, making sure the flap is to the inside of the card being careful to line the score with the edge of the card.  You can refer to the diagram above for additional identification of the flaps.

After you’ve assembled the bed frame, fold it to the left and then to the right to make sure it lies flat.

Next, you'll assemble the hippo:

Place the black rectangle behind the hippo’s face so that it covers the eye and nose openings.

Attach the pink ears as shown in the image above.

Attach the Band-Aid Brad where desired.

Turn the hippo over and flatten the prongs with a flat-edged pen or something similar.

Insert the edge of the thermometer into the hippo’s mouth on the muzzle. Apply adhesive under the thermometer to secure it.  Attach the round red dot to the end of the thermometer. The example also shows that I added small black lines with a black pen.

Attach the muzzle to the hippo’s body, lining up the nostrils.

Attach the Teddy Bear Brad to the hippo’s body then attach the hippo to insert #2

Assemble the feet, attaching the gray over the black oval.  Next, attach the 5 mm Black Pearl Bling over each toe opening

Now let’s tuck the hippo in bed:

Fold the flaps of insert #1 forward and apply adhesive to the back of each flap.

Attach insert #1 to the inside of the bed frame up against the front and aligned with the top sides. Note: I suggest you test fit it without adhesive first just to discover the easiest way for you to attach it without getting adhesive where you don’t want it.

Fold the card to the left and then to the right as shown above to make sure it lies flat.

Fold the flaps of insert #2 forward and apply adhesive to the back of each flap and attach insert #2 up against the back of insert #1 and aligned with the top.  I failed to take pictures of attaching insert #2, but here's a shot of both inserts inside the bed.

Again, fold the card to the left and then to the right for one last check.

With your left-over Washi Tape, why not take a moment to decorate the envelope flap.

Jeweled Peacock

Hello again everyone, and happy Friday!  I'm here with a card that's bright and blingy!  I just love this color combo, which was inspired by our new flower and feather washi tape.

The stamp set I chose had a coordinating stencil, so a little distress ink made a subtle background of peacock feathers.  I used strips of the flower and feather washi tape, bordered by some glitter washi tape to form a border accent, topped by some frilly, colorful ribbon.  At the center of the bow is a clear-edged 12 mm jewel.

The peacock's tail was the perfect spot for embellishing with some beautiful turquoise sticky-back bling.  It's so nice how the jewels all coordinate together.  Makes it so quick and easy to embellish a card.
