Beach Body

There's still a few more weeks to hit the beach before school starts, and so I'm bringing you a fun little card with advice on how to get a "Beach Body!" It's quite simple, really...first, go to the beach. Second, have a body!  🤣

Beach themed projects are such fun to embellish with the many beached themed brads available at Eyelet Outlet. For today's card I chose some cute sunglasses, the popular sandcastle, a pair of flip flops, and a sand pail and shovel set.

Beach, Please!

Life IS better at the beach and summery cards ARE better with Eyelet Outlet Summer Vacation beachy brads! Both of these beachy keen cards feature our Shell Corner Brads and have twine accents strung through a trio of colorful old school 1/8" Round Eyelets; with mats of Shell Washi and extra wide Sky Tape.

The first card also features both shapes from our Seagull Brad Set as well as both Sun and Cloud from that set.

The second card has a pair of Flip Flops, a Sandcastle and a white Anchor Brad... the latter is masquerading as postage.

Did you know that in addition to the regular search feature, the lefthand side of the Eyelet Outlet Homepage has lots of handy categories like Vacation/Summer; Birds, Bugs and Critters; Food, Drink and Cooking; Animals and lots more; super useful for those times when you'd like to see a lot of options at once!

Let's Flamin-GO!

Where do card ideas come from? EVERYWHERE! In this case, a friend sent me (Lauren) a funny meme that I realized would make a very fast and easy card featuring an Eyelet Outlet Flamingo Brad, a Sandcastle, Tall Palm and our Sun and Cloud Brads with an accent of Sequins and a mat of Pink and White Dot Tape

The sentiment is formatted in a font called In Your Face Joffrey, which was free at DaFont.com; all I had to do was print it out, add brads and embellies et voila! Whatever joke, quote, saying or motto YOU would like to re-create in card form, I'm pretty confident that the Eyelet Outlet Online Store has all the Brads and Washi you'll need to make it work!

can literally never resist a Dad Joke, lol!

You're Palmtastic!

Happy Sunday! Today I am in a tropical kind of mood. In fact, I will be on the beach when this is published so I guess I'm manifesting my future in this card!

I recently got a tropical island die set so I created the card with it. Eyelet Outlet tropical brads takes the tropical them up a level. Here are the stops I took to make this card. I inked up a cloud background and two die cut clouds. I added Sun & Cloud Brads to add more color and dimension to the sky. Next, I made the palm tree and placed a Tropical Bird Brad on one of the branches. Then I got to work on the island. I added a Sand Castle Brad, two Shell Brads and a Lobster Brad. It's such a cute scene and easily made which is the best part!

Thanks for stopping by today. Please visit the store for all your brads, washi tape, bling and paper flowers!

Happy Creating Everyone!

The Future's So Bright...

...You Gotta Wear Shades! Here's a bright and cheerful card, featuring some beachy Eyelet Outlet Brads, including a handsome Flamingo, a stately Palm Tree, a Sandcastle, and our Sun and Cloud Brads; all arranged on Penny Black's Glasses die with Cloud Washi lenses, on a background of Rainbow Tape.

While I was experimenting with combinations of tapes I came up with another version I really liked: Love Tape glasses with the Cloud Washi again for the lenses. I added Colored Daisies and a Mini Ladybug to the tiny garden and made a tiny glasses-shaped card base from a piece of window plastic.

Whatever the calendar might say, when it comes to papercrafting, it can always be any season you want, as long as you have a few appropriate Eyelet Outlet embellies!

loves the beach at any time of year!

Tanks a Lot!

Today I have a fun little thank you card for you. I created the aquarium with a basic rectangle shape, some foam tape, and an acetate window.

Inside the aquarium I've used some Eyelet Outlet fish brads and a sandcastle brad. I hope the recipient enjoys receiving it as much as I enjoyed making it.

If you'll be in the central Texas area this weekend,September 10-11,  I hope you'll make plans to attend the Creating Keepsakes Convention in San Marcos and visit the Eyelet Outlet booth! I just might pop in, too!

Sandy Feet are the Best Feet!

Hi EO fans! Today I've got a fun sandy beach scene full of fun EO beachy brads. To make this card, I created a blended background out of distress oxide inks. The sand was created first by masking off the horizon line and then I blended the water and sky.

I used the new brown flip flop brads along with Sandcastle Brads and Beach Umbrella Brads. The Sun and Cloud Brad set always looks great in a sky scene.

SHOPPING LIST:

I matted the scene on a handmade water color background I had made some time ago. I keep handmade backgrounds on my work table until I find a use for them. I think this one looked great with the scene colors. I used a light brown kraft cardstock with lots of fiber in it for the A2 card base.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are having a beachy day!
Happy Creating Everyone!

I spy a fan!

We love seeing the creativity from our fans!
Here is one that popped up today...from Kelly, of Sandcastle Stamper Blog.

So many people from my state of MI are basking in the FL sun right now.
This card sure make me smile!  Love the flying SeaGull Brads above the Tall Palm Trees brads.
Don't you love how the sea gull is nested in the paper waves so you don't see its feet! Also used: Sea Shore Brads.
Such a smart idea, Kelly. Thanks for being a fan!

Wholehearted

Every once in a while, I (Lauren) get an idea SO CRAZY I have to drop everything and attempt it immediately. This is one of those. The amazing thing is... it actually came out very much like the picture that was in my head. (I will leave it to you to decide if that's a good thing or not, lol.) I also think I may have set the all-time record for most Eyelet Outlet Brads used in one post. Because there are 45 brads, from 29 different style sets on these two panels which are each just a tiny smidge over A2. I've given the complete list with links below, but really, the best part about an idea like this is that you can make it work with pretty much ANY combination of brads you love!

Many of my crazy ideas just *appear* out of nowhere, but in this case, I had actually seen two different inspiration pieces recently. This heart shaped graphic and a very cool two-halved LOVE card. I saw them at different times and definitely didn't connect them immediately, but at some point they kind of joined up in my head and that's when I started working. I gathered up lots of little sticker sentiments I thought could work in a Valentine context, and pulled out a bunch of brad styles. Generally, I do a "dry fit" layout first, but in this case, I kind of just had to wing it. I found it easier to start at the bottom of each half and fit each brad on individually, as if working on a jigsaw puzzle; scattering the sentiment stickers here and there by size, theme and color as I went along. Here's a shot of my worktable when I was about half done. Minimalists: look away now!

You can see I have quite a few leftovers, but this was one of those times that it was good to have a large pool of different sizes and colors to draw from, because as I got to an edge, I sometimes had a very oddly shaped blank spot that needed... something. And honestly, I couldn't probably have guessed what that would be when I started out. The brads that made the final version of the left side are: the sun from our Sun and Clouds set, a pair of Colorful SunglassesMini Ladybug, the champagne flutes and silver-colored engagement ring from the Wedding Brads set, a few Mini Bright Stitched Flowers, a Funky Bee Brad and some Mini Bees, a Peace Sign, the white cup from our Coffee Brads, a Donut, Bee Happy from the Spring Bubble BradsPalm TreeFlamingo, a Sandcastle Brad, a couple of Hearts and a Yoga Cat

On the right-side card, the brads are: one red and one green Margarita from the Cocktail Brad set (which also includes red and white wine), Love You from our Saying Bubble Brads set, a handsome green Gnome, a Mini Emotion BradMini Bright Stitched Flower, a couple of Hearts, Hello Sunshine from the Spring Bubble Brads, a Brown Teddy Bear and a pink one from the Colorful Teddy Bears set, a silver Eiffel TowerMini Ladybug, a couple of stacks of Book Brads, a yellow Light Bulb, a green ball of yarn and the needles from our Knitting Brads, a Cute Deer, a red velvet Cupcake, and a yellow Duck Brad.

When the two heart halves were complete, I affixed them to A2-sized backgrounds using the reverse patterned paper selection, to which I had carefully lined up strips of brand new Heart Washi TapeXO Gold Foil Tape and a fun Skinny Washi pattern. But again... you could use pretty much any combination you like, and there are some really awesome NEW tapes in the store; they're conveniently placed at the top of the tape section with an asterisk, so they're easy to find!

Wishing everybody a very Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow! ♥♥♥

A Fish Story

Hello! It's Kim from Katydid Cards.

Another clear stamp set by Eyelet Outlet, Fish, was used to make this "Fin-tastic News" card.   I combined the greeting, fishbowl and fish images from the set with the Fish and Sandcastle Brads, Blue Pearl Bling.  Also used were the Brown Glitter and Halloween Dot Washi Tapes.

I stamped the fishbowl image twice on 3" circles of watercolor paper.  On one, I cut the center out just inside the outermost line.  I attached that with mounting tape to the second image, colored with Copic markers.  The sandcastle brad was just perfect for inside the bowl.  I also stamped a mirror image of the fish so she could be looking up at her buddy.  Speaking of her buddy, he's a fish brad who's just so happy he can't "contain himself".

I made a water trail using the multi-sized pearl bling.  Pearls were also added across the center on the Halloween dot washi tape...the dots gave me a placement guide for the pearls and were a perfect size.  I attached that over the brown glitter washi which separates the two patterned papers from an old Gina K kit.

You can't really see it from the picture, but as a finishing touch, I coated the inner fishbowl with clear Wink of Stella to give it some shimmer.

If you like the cutout effect on this card, you might also enjoy this one I made a while back.

Summer Fun with The Project Bin

Eyelet Outlet is hopping along with The Project Bin over on Instagram and we invite you to join in, follow along and comment for the chance to win prizes!  I will share the details at the end of this post.

TGIF crafty friends. My project today is a little out of the box. Okay, actually, it is a box!  Turns out if you take a really cool stamp set and mix in some themed washi tape and brads you can create a pretty sweet little trinket box!

I started with Anchors Away from The Project Bin, a set of 5 clear stamps with nautical sayings ranging from inspirational to humorous on a 4"x6" storage sheet!

The sailing theme made me want to work with natural materials.  I had some adhesive cork sheets in my inventory so I adhered it to mat board before I die cut and assembled my box and then inked the edges with brown ink. I almost did a happy dance when I realized the Wide Land and Sea Washi Tape was the perfect size to cover the sides of the box!

When I started playing with the stamps I realized the "eat SAIL sleep repeat" sentiment fit perfectly in the opening of the trinket box (time for another happy dance!).  I love every opportunity to add dimension  so I accented the stamped sentiment with a pair of  black enamel dots before sprinkling Sandcastle Brads and Seagull Brads around the oval opening.

Here is a good view of the sides of the assembled box with the Wide Land and Sea Washi tape. I used the Ship Wheel Brad as part of the closure, looping elastic cording over that and then hooking it onto a hitch fastener I had placed on the side.

Just like a card, it is always nice to make the inside look as special as the outside.

On the reverse side of the lid I added a 3"x4" card.  This time I stamped on the cork and the image is still nice and crisp!  I added Shell Brads and more washi tape - do you see the Rope Washi across the top?

And finally, the bottom of the box holds another sentiment stamped onto cork.

So what should I put in this little trinket box?  Perhaps a little salt water taffy?

And now it is time to head over to the

Vacation!

Hi!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards here with you today!

Summer is nearing an end, but there's still time for a visit to the beach before it's back to the books.  Fortunately, there's no shortage of brads and washi tape with a beach theme at Eyelet Outlet.  For my card today, I used:

And here's my card with a view as one would see through a pair of sunglasses...check out those swanky diamonds on either side.  I made the card using a cut file from the Silhouette store.   It wasn't a card when it started; but with a bit of work, it ended up that way.

Before I added my elements, I randomly stippled the white background with soft sky ink.  Then I added my card stock pieces, covering them with the black frames.  Saving the best for last, I added the brads.  It was fun designing my scenes.  Here's a closer look at each side:

Inside, I used another file from the Silhouette store.  I printed it inside an outline of the glasses.  Seems like good advice for a great day at the beach.

Have you checked Eyelet Outlet's Flickr gallery yet?  It's like one stop shopping for inspiration from the amazing design team.  Of course, the blog shares a lot of additional details about the cards and projects, so don't stop visiting here.  And don't forget to check out our new Freebies page which is growing every week.
