Fun with ATC's!

I don't know about you, but I (Lauren) make more greeting cards than anything else. And let's face it, they are by far the most practical paper-crafting project, aren't they? But sometimes I need to shake things up, and another format I really love is the Artist Trading Card. Like these:

The "official" size for ATC's is 2.5 x 3.5" which is exactly the size of a standard playing card... which is what I use as a base to build my designs. I covered my cards with patterned paper trimmed to size and then got to work on the FUN part: adding the little brad scenes and punny sayings! My first card features the new adorable and realistic Jungle Mix Brads, which miiiiiiiiiiight be my favorite item from the May 2018 Release.

My next card has nothing from the new release, but the Typewriter and Hand Brad sets are still faves of mine, and they inspired me to type all of the sentiments on one of my real vintage typewriters. Plus, it's hard to beat typewriters in love, don't you think? Because if you attach a pair of any brads and add a Heart Brad you've got instant cuteness off the charts, imo!

Our Summer Tree Brads are beautifully realistic deciduous trees in two different shapes (a bit like an ash and an oak tree, I'd say) and they go really well with the Pine Tree Brads from last year. I am secretly hoping that we'll see Autumn Tree Brads at some point, with beautifully colored foliage... just sayin'...

Finally, the Wooden Hanger Brads, Jeans and Tee Shirts and Dress Brads are also from the newest release and they work wonderfully in all sorts of ways, together or separate. The Jeans and Tee Shirts come with lighter and darker jeans, plus five colors of shirt in each packet; the dresses are a mix of four beautiful pastel shades, plus black.

I hope you'll be inspired to try the Artist Trading Card format with some of *YOUR* favorite Eyelet Outlet Brads! ♥

A Shell in Your Pocket!

Hello friends!  I hope you're having a great week!  Here in the U.S. we had a long three-day weekend to commemorate the 4th of July, and in Florida the Summer heat was ON!  We celebrated with friends, taking a day trip down to St. Augustine which included a boat tour from the city marina to the St. Augustine Lighthouse on Anastasia Island.  It was beautiful!

That trip inspired a simple Summer card with some colorful shell ribbon and a trio of shell brads that go perfectly with a beachy sentiment and some fun octopus and mermaid designer paper.

In my last post, I shared a two-page layout from our trip to Italy using EZ Laser designs and Eyelet Outlet products.  Today, in addition to my card, I'm sharing the remaining three pages documenting our trip.

I typically use coordinating prints of designer scrapbook papers in my scrapbooking, but with over 1000 pictures from this trip, I wanted to use every available space for photographs, which meant narrowing it down to about 40!

Since the music was the inspiration for the trip, I used strips of pearls to emphasize the notes on the Music Notes layout.  I love how elegant it looks.

These two layouts are Template #13 and Mosaic 6.  I added a Selfie brad, and an iPhone brad to accent a couple of the photos of my son and me with our chorale friends.

There was one really short but wide photo from the Colosseum...a Colosseum brad there helps identify the subject in the scene since it is not the traditional facade shot taken from the outside.

One of the photos from St. Peter's Square had a cool reflection of Matthew's face on Susan's computer screen, so I added a vintage hand brad (part of the package of vintage typewriters) to point that out just for fun.

I love these layouts so much!  I hope you've enjoyed them too!  The photos are a mixture of scenes from Venice, Lucca, Siena, Florence, and Rome, and they bring back such wonderful memories of a trip that I'll cherish for a lifetime!

Altered Journal

I've been obesesed with Traveler's Notebooks ever since our trip to Italy.  I bought one for the trip, and altered it with pretty papers and tapes...it looked really pretty even without any pictures in it!  That vintage typewriter brad looks great with these clockworks papers!

I love the way these journal/planners are put together.  The covers have one strand (or several, depending on the brand) of elastic cording in the center which hold the inserts inside.  Extra inserts are held together with special rubber bands.  That makes it ultra customizable, which is what sold me.  Mine has an insert with a week over a two page spread, another with lined paper for notes, and a third made of watercolor paper for sketching.

In my notebook, I have two plastic inserts.  One has several pockets, much like the bill pocket in a wallet.  It functions like a dashboard, and I have several cards with pretty quotes tucked into one of the pockets.  It also has a zipper pocket for receipts, etc.

The other has slots for business cards, which I have filled with ATCs.  In this photo you can see how I've altered my notebooks with pretty designer papers and reinforced the spines with gold and black foil washi tape.  I love doing that because it makes them more durable and gorgeous at the same time!

I also have a kraft pocket folder, which holds my pencil board (it's easier to write on a firm surface) and a little altered notebook.

Here you can see one of the pages of my art journal insert, with another pocket (bordered with washi tape) for tucking doilies, tickets, and ephemera.

I had to have another journal since I loved this one so!  The other is my everyday carry which includes my bullet journal, calendar, and sketches.  I like using washi tape to accent special dates, and as accents to break up long pages of journaling.  I'm enjoying having a place to document special trips, and another that captures everyday life.  I hope you've enjoyed taking a peek!
