Aparrotly, It's Your Birthday!

Puns and brads go together like... well, in this case, like the Parrots from Eyelet Outlet'sTropical Bird Brads (the set has Toucans, as well) and watercolory diecut foliage. The diecut palm and sentiment circle hold three handsome parrots, a Sun and Cloud Brad peep from behind the fronds, there's a scattering of white Sequins for extra texture, and a mat of Giraffe Washi to frame the whole thing.

Visit the Eyelet Outlet Online Store for more birds, reptiles, dogs, cats, farm animals and jungle critters to make your next card as wild and wonderful as the person to whom you'll send it!

can literally NEVER resist a diabolical pun!

Get Well Soon Sunflower Style!

Hey everybody! I hope last week was a good one and you're enjoying your weekend! Leslie here, back as a guest designer (filling in for Janet), sharing a mini slimline get well card using our Sunflower Washi Tape, Sunflower Brads, and brown Sequins. Sunflowers are my favorite of all flowers, and I can't resist the urge to create cards with them!

I cut a 3-1/2″ x 6″ mini slimline card base from heavyweight white cardstock along with four die cut frames which I adhered together. I cut a layering panel from lighter weight white cardstock and covered it with Sunflower Washi Tape. I added a die cut sentiment along with a Sunflower Brad and several brown sequins which completed the card front.

I cut the inside panel from white cardstock along with layering panels from yellow and brown cardstock which I adhered together. I embellished the white cardstock panel with a strip of the Sunflower Washi Tape which I trimmed along the flower line, and then stamped the sentiment in brown ink.

Like You a Latte

I (Lauren) never get tired of making coffee cards, especially when I can use my Eyelet Outlet Coffee Brads, Heart Brads, Sequins and Paper Flowers!

This card is extra special because I used a STAMPlorations set called A Cuppa Love* designed by my amazing friend Becca... aka the Damsel of Distressed Cards... and a stencil called Dots 'n Beans; both of which I was lucky enough to win in last fall's Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop. So it seemed only fitting to use them in the Spring/Summer Hop, which is taking place right now!

I tried literally all of my brown and tan Oxide colors with the Dots 'n Beans stencil, and every single one looked awesome. But I wanted a slightly lighter, brighter, Spring vibe, and eventually I had a brainwave to try Spun Sugar. Weirdly enough, that was The One, lol! I stamped the sentiment in (appropriately enough) Ground Espresso, colored the mug with Tombows, cut it out and added a Heart Brad. I was happy with my cluster of mug, Paper Flower (with Coffee Bean Brad center!) and sentiment, but somehow it needed just one more thing. I'm not saying the answer to, "What does this card need?" is *ALWAYS* Eyelet Outlet Sequins, but that does turn out to be true a fair amount of the time, and they did the trick here!

Sequins, Clearly Seen

Eyelet Outlet Sequins come in Round, Star-Shaped and Snowflakes, in a whole rainbow of colors. Usually they are the finishing touches on a holiday project, but I (Lauren) wanted to make them the center of attention!

I cannot take credit for this concept, because I am sure I saw ornaments similar to the little tree on Instagram; but when I went back to find them, they proved elusive. The idea is pretty simple, though: cut two shapes out of clear plastic, fill them with sequins, and stitch them shut.

About the plastic: it needs to be sturdy but flexible! I cut up a heavy duty clear plastic sleeve like the kind used for storing craft dies. Speaking of dies, I used a medium sized heart and a medium sized star from two sets of nested dies. You definitely want to stick with simple shapes, and it's easiest to cut them one at a time and roll through the machine more than once.

About the sequins: you need to place them pretty much where you'd like them to be in the finished ornament, because they're not going to move about as much as in a shaker window. But you can't get them too near the edge or they will try to escape while you are sewing. And trust me, less is more!

About the sewing: I machine stitched, but hand cranked the machine. Start and end at the top of the ornaments and leave long tails, so they can act as the hangers. I used the same white heavy duty upholstery thread for my bobbin and top thread. You can use a tiny piece of washi tape to secure one edge of the ornament while you start sewing, but it's kind of fiddly to remove. I found that holding the two shapes together and just working slowly and carefully was the easiest.

My favorite thing about these little ornaments is that I got to use ALL the styles (and quite a few colors!) of Eyelet Outlet Sequins!

is the queen of
holiday decorations!!!

Tag, You're It!

What do you get when you pair Eyelet Outlet Brads, Bling, Washi and Flowers with Jumbo Christmas Tags from EZ Laser Designs? Holiday magic, of course!

The jumbo Christmas Tags measure 3 x 5" and come in packs of six beautiful laser cut overlays, each with a plain white backer tag. Each pack has a tree, a deer and bells cut into a deep green tag; plus a stocking, candies and baubles in a rich red. The tags are nice and sturdy and the pre-punched holes are generous enough to thread ribbon or twine through easily.

For the bells tag I (Lauren) filled the white backer tag with Holiday Flower Bling and Holly Brads in a pretty pattern, then used another Holly Brad to affix a couple of white Paper Flowers to the ribbon at the top. I made the tree tag into a simple shaker by backing the laser-cut tree with a scrap of acrylic packaging, then filled the shaker compartment with Red Snowflake Bling as well as Snowflake and Star Sequins; the backer tag is adorned with Merry Christmas Script Tape and I framed up the design with red Jewel Strips. For the sweet reindeer, I neatly lined up strips of Seasons Greetings Washi on the white backer tag, then added Snowflake Brads to the green tag.

I used Twig Tape on the white backer of the candy tag then affixed a bit of golden patterned paper behind the sweets and added some Peppermint Candy Brads in purple on top. The stocking tag is adorned with green and white Paper Flowers held on with a Poinsettia Brad, which coordinates perfectly with the Poinsettia Washi in the background. The ornament tag has a backer of Ornament Tape and an assortment of Ornament Brads to match.

EZ Laser Designs has many other varieties of tags and overlays for all your cardmaking, giftwrapping and scrapbooking needs... and of course Eyelet Outlet has embellishments to make them even more lovely, as well as uniquely yours!

loves adding customized tags
to her giftwrapping!

Sweet On You!

In honor of Sweetest Day coming up on Saturday, October 17th, here's a card full of sweetness!  This shaker card is packed full of Eyelet Outlet peppermint candy brads and an assortment of our colorful sequins.

The sentiment on this card comes from Miss Kate's Cuttables Love Letters available in the Cricut image library. I modified it a bit though. I replaced the cookie in the design with a peppermint candy brad for the "o" and used a colorful selection of Eyelet Outlet enamel hearts.  A little red and white stripe washi tape finished it off.

Wishing you a Happy Sweetest Day with those you love!
