🎄 Washi Wonderland: Crafting a Trio of Festive Christmas Trees

The holiday season is officially here, and what better way to celebrate than by diving into a fun, sparkly, and relatively simple card-making project? Today, I’m sharing how I created a charming Christmas card featuring three unique trees, all brought to life with the magic of washi tape and a little bit of festive bling!

If you love combining patterns and textures, this technique is a must-try. It's an easy way to get a lot of visual impact without needing a huge stamp collection.

Step 1: Building the Washi Forest Foundation

The key to this design is creating patterned 'sheets' of cardstock using washi tape, which you then cut into your desired shape—in this case, triangles for our trees.

  1. Gather Your Washi: I chose five different patterns of Christmas or winter-themed washi tape. I went for a mix of  patterns and glitter tapes to keep things interesting.

  2. The Technique: Take a piece of scrap cardstock (plain white works well) and begin laying your washi tapes side-by-side, covering the entire surface.

    • Tip: Vary the order and width of the tapes for each of the three trees to give them distinct looks. You want three unique washi collages!

  3. Cut the Trees: Once your cardstock is fully covered, cut the washi-covered pieces into three different-sized triangles. These will be your main tree shapes.

Step 2: Creating the Snowy Landscape

To ground the design and add a touch of winter shimmer, I incorporated three strips of white glitter washi tape.

  • I applied glitter strips across the bottom portion of the main card front. This immediately suggests a snow-covered landscape.

  • The three washi trees were then adhered to the card front, positioning them so their bases sit below the glittery 'snow line.' The visual effect is that they are standing proudly in a fresh snowfall!

Step 3: Decking the Boughs with Bling!

Now for the best part—decorating the trees! No Christmas tree is complete without a little sparkle.

  • Snowflake Studs: I used Snowflake Brads in the blue sky background to suggest a light snowfall. Brads add great dimension and a little metallic shine.

  • Jewel Bling Ornaments: To simulate colorful ornaments, I raided my stash of self-adhesive acrylic jewels. I used a total of seven different colors in various sizes.

    • The variety in size and color makes the trees look richly decorated and festive.

    • The jewels catch the light beautifully and truly elevate the card from simple washi craft to a stunning holiday keepsake.

The Final Result

The combination of layered patterned washi, sparkling white glitter, metallic brads, and colorful jewels creates a sophisticated yet playful Christmas card. The process is incredibly meditative, allowing you to play with pattern and color without the complexity of traditional stamping or die-cutting. It’s a fantastic way to use up all those tiny washi tape remnants and jewel scraps you’ve been hoarding!

May the Luck O' the Irish Be Yours!

Hello everyone! I feel the start of spring and it gave me the inspiration to make a St. Patrick's card. I was inspired by a design posted by Jennifer Willert in Cricut Design Space. I used several EO products to make this design my own including brads and lots of bling!

To make this card, I cut the white panel using the pattern in Design Space. I cut the black pot and the background for the gold in the pot and three shamrocks out of scrap cardstock. Behind the lattice design I placed a panel I made using strips of Sparkle Gold Glitter Washi Tape.

For the pot, I added several Gold Glitter Enamel Dots and I put two Beer Brads on the front of it. After stamping the sentiment, I put a Rainbow Brad below it. Next I put a round Jewel Bling with a clear edge in the middle of two of the shamrocks. I inked up a White Paper Flower with green ink and put one of the completed shamrocks on top and put it in the top left corner of the white panel. I doubled up the other shamrock and put it in the right corner. Finally I added rows of colored Jewel Bling Strips to form a rainbow.

To finish this card, I matted the white panel on top of a green piece of cardstock and then placed the two layers on a white A2 card. There's a lot going on with this card but I think it turned out well and I know one of my Irish friends will enjoy receiving it.

I'll see you next week but until then please visit the EO store for all your brads, washi tape, bling and paper flowers!

Happy Creating!

Hey Pumpkin! Dex Card

Hi friends!  I had so much fun creating my last Memory Dex Card that I decided I needed to create a fall-themed one to share with you!   I also am participating in a Dex swap, so this was a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone!

I colored up these cute images with Copic Markers, cut them out and set them aside.   I knew that I wanted to pair her with some fall brads, so when I die-cut my Memory Dex card, I knew that I would need multiple layers so that I could add some foam to leave room for the brads in back.  I die-cut one card from heavy-weight card stock, and I cut two more from two different patterned papers.

I used my paper trimmer to cut the plaid card to 2" and I adhered it to the leaf patterned card.  I wrapped them with Sparkle Copper Glitter Washi Tape (this is literally my favorite washi ever!) and then I adhered my colored images to the card front.

I added a Pumpkin Brad at the base of her feet and scattered some Mini Leaf Brads all around.  Once they were in place, I added foam tape to the back and adhered it to the heavyweight dex card.   Lastly, I stamped my sentiment, and I bordered it with a layer of cardstock that I wrapped with the washi.
I hope that my swap partner (and you, of course) loves this card as much as I did!  I had a really hard time putting it in the mail.
Thank you so much for hanging out with me for a little while!
Xoxo, Kim

Christmas Tags - Heaven & Nature Sings!

Hello Eyelet Outlet Fans! I've got three tags today that celebrate Christmas with a nature theme.

These tags began as white and black laser cut tags. They are part of a six jumbo tags from EZ Laser Designs and they are called Nature. They are a large at 5 2/8" tall by 3" wide.

I loved the images in these tags and knew I wanted to make them Christmas tags. I used lots of Eyelet Outlet goodies to decorate them. First, I used washi tapes over the top of the white layer of each tag that shows through when the black laser layer is on top. I have decided to call this "painting with Washi." I just cut the tape to fit behind. Exact cuts aren't necessary since the laser designs will cover up jagged edges. Once that was done, I added sentiments from my stash and EO bling.

SUPPLIES USED:

BUCK TAG:

Glitter Tall Tree Tape, Holiday Bling, Snowflake Bling 1 1/2", Snowflake Brads

FIRE TAG:

Foil Washi Tape-Silver Stars, Wood Tape, Sparkle Glitter Red Tape, Holiday Bling, Single Red Jewel Bling

BEAR TAG:

Mountain Tape, Holiday Flower Bling, Fancy Long Bling - Pearl & Jewel - Black

I will be back next week with the last three tags in this set. Can't wait to share them with you! Have a great week!
