Trick or Treat

It's almost time to Trick or Treat and these adorable critters are ready to go! Any set of adorable characters can be dressed up for Halloween, Christmas or a birthday party with a few Eyelet Outlet brad styles. The mummy bear has donned a Mustache Brad; the unicorn kitty is sporting a Tiara and Eye Glass Brads; the dashing dachshund has his Top Hat on and has invited a Long Dog friend to accompany him. Some Black Cat Brads obviously wanted to join the party and it would hardly be a spooky occasion without Bat and Pumpkin Brads. Thee handsome Frog Brad is wearing a Witch's Hat... or possibly... a powerful witch has been temporarily turned into a frog? Either way, this Boo Crew is definitely going to collect lots of candy and maybe win some prizes at the costume party! A mat of Spider Washi Tape is the perfect finishing touch to any creepy, kooky card.

All the brads, tapes, enamels and embellishments you need for Halloween and beyond are in the Eyelet Outlet Store; and there are still a couple of Trade Shows left on the Schedule... is your town on the list?

Trick or Treat!

Do you create goodies for trick-or-treaters?

Here is a fun card idea to try! I started with a standard size card, then created a diagonal pocket using the glitter washi tapes and the fun monster washi! I stamped the plain triangular part with candies and colored in with colored pencils.

I added a sentiment banner and embellished with the colorful, fun, and "scary" monster brads!  You could slip in a gift card or chocolate bar, a treat that both the young and old "trick-or-treaters" would surely enjoy! Happy Halloween!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to shop at Eyelet Outlet for your crafting needs!

I've Fallen In and I Can't Get Out!

Hello crafty friends!  Happy Friday!  As much as I love fall, it is so hard for me to come to terms with the fact that Halloween is nearly here.  It is still 80 degrees here in the Pacific Northwest, which is just bizarre!

Anyhow, I made a fun Halloween card and couldn't wait to share it with you!  I started by making a cauldron using my Cricut and set it aside.

I stuck with the black and orange layers, as I really wanted the brad and cauldron colors to stand out.  I used the Witch Leg Brads upside down to make it appear that the witch fell in the cauldron and added a Witch Hat Brad at the base of the cauldron.  Lastly, I pulled apart one of the Jewel Green Swirl Bling Embellishments so that I could use the jewels individually and scattered them on the card front.

Thanks so much for spending a few minutes with me!  I would love to know if you make and send Halloween cards or not!  Please make sure to leave us a comment and share!

Cat and Bats

This is a fun Halloween card using traditional Halloween colors.
I die cut the background and also the scalloped circle. I stamped the
cat and added Distress Inks for a spooky night effect.

The really fun part came when I added some of the fabulous
Halloween embellishments from Eyelet Outlet. For the scalloped circle
I added enamel dots and clear jewels from the Eyelet Outlet.
The bats are brads from Eyelet Outlet as well as
the black pearl strip around the card.

Witchful Thinking

Halloween is just a month away, but there's still time to make some fun (and fast!) cards with Eyelet Outlet Halloween Brads!

This sweet little witch diecut was part of a seasonal collection from a year or two ago, and when I saw her again while looking for something else, I realized that she was the perfect size for out Witch Leg Brads! And where there's a witch, you are bound to find a few black cats... or in this case... Kitten Brads; one of whom is very curious about what might be under that Witch Hat

We've also got Pumpkins and GhostsCandy Corn and MonstersSpiders and Owls and lots more Halloween fun at Eyelet Outlet!

Oh, What a Stylish Web We Weave

Because ordinary spiders make everyday webs, but Eyelet Outlet Spider Brads (and Mini Spider Brads!) demand something a little fancier... like a beautiful mandala web on a gorgeous pink card:

I (Lauren) stamped an older Mandala from MFT onto plain white bristol board, and embossed with white powder, letting the design go off the top corner of the panel, to make it slightly more spider-web-like. Then, colored in the panel with a blend pink oxide inks. I let my Spider Brad and Mini Spiders move in and make themselves comfy; and added panels of Glitter Black TapePink Foil and Coloring Book Tape... (which is actually leaves and flowers, but looks rather web-like if you trim it down to mat size!) ...and affixed the whole thing to my A7 card.

I hope you'll be inspired to get out your Eyelet Outlet goodies and see what kinds of Halloween fun you can cook up!

Boo to You

You don't need much to make BOO-tiful Halloween cards, especially if you have one or two Eyelet Outlet seasonal goodies, like Bat BradsSpider Web Tape and Spider Brads!

I (Lauren) used a cloud diecut as a mask to blend lots of layers of Oxide Ink, for a suitably dramatic sky and moon. I neatly lined up a few strips of Spider Web Tape on plain white cardstock, and diecut the letters for "BOO"; then diecut them a second time from black cardstock. I added a Spider Brad and two Mini Spiders to my sentiment, which I attached with slivers of foam tape. I let two handsome Bat Brads fly across the full moon, scattered a few Silver Star Sequins, and mounted the whole panel to a mat made from Silver Star Glitter Tape et voila!

Not into creepy crawly critters? We've got Monster BradsPumpkinsWitch Legs and Witch HatsBlack CatsCandy CornAutumn Leaves and lots more at Eyelet Outlet!

Boo to You

In this Interesting Year of 2020, Halloween is bound to be a bit different, so it seems like an especially great time to send cards and other greetings, doesn't it? Luckily Eyelet Outlet has plenty of brads to suit the season! I (Lauren) have made a trio of ATCs that can stand alone OR become the centerpieces of some fun cards.

EO Ghost Brads are so cute it's almost scary! Though these guys seem to have been frightened off by a pair of Mini Spider Brads?

Monster Brads, on the other hand, are not afraid of anything... except maybe missing out on their share of the sweets, like Candy Corn Brads! The Bat Brad in the corner is hoping they remember to brush and floss afterwards.

It's a banner day for the witch who lives in the last ATC, thanks to Taylored Expressions' Pennant Parade Cling and Clear set, also the source of the cute sentiments! She's parked her Witch Hat next to a Pumpkin Brad while she goes to fetch her Broom... or maybe her Vacuum??

I hope you'll be inspired to make some fun Halloween cards or ATCs to share with your friends and family. Check out all of the awesome Holiday Brads in the EO store!

"You Call Me a Witch..."

A couple of weeks ago I (Lauren) saw a Halloween card with this sentiment on it and literally laughed out loud. Of course, I'm bound to say I think a version which includes Eyelet Outlet Witch Hat and Witch Leg Brads is even better, right?

I made my focal point sentiment with my trusty Dymo Labelmaker, but swapped out the word "witch" in favor of some glamorous enamel and rhinestone letter stickers. I added a Witch Hat Brad to the sweet little patterned paper icon, and affixed my Witch Leg Brads to the background underneath where the circle would go. I couldn't resist the finishing touch of a Spider Brad in one corner and a pair of Mini Spider Brads dangling from machine stitches in the other.

Wishing you a very Happy Halloween if you're celebrating tomorrow, or just an especially nice Thursday if you're not. ♥

If You've Got It...

...HAUNT it! That's my (Lauren's) motto this Halloween season. Luckily I have Eyelet Outlet Ghost Brads and Bat Brads to turn the fun sentiment into a BOOOOO-tiful card like this:

I found this ancient bat patterned paper in my stash and the fun castle illustration in an old, falling apart childrens book I found at a garage sale. I added a sentiment made from alphabet stickers and my Dymo Labelmaker, a few skinny black mats and of course my Ghost and Bat Brads.

There are lots more awesome Eyelet Outlet Halloween Goodies in the online store, we promise it's all Treats and no Tricks! ♥

The Cutest Trick-or-Treaters on the Block!

Here's a shocking true confession: Until recently, I (Lauren) have not made Halloween cards every year. I think it was just because I didn't ever seem to have the right ingredients; by which I mean a selection of Eyelet Outlet Halloween Brads. Because now that I do, I ♥LOVE♥ making Halloween cards, and this one might be my favorite so far:

When I was lucky enough to win my choice of Pretty Pink Posh stamp sets (via the Summer Blog Hop at Coffee Loving CardmakersI chose Holiday Pals because I knew they'd look adorable dressed up for Christmas with Eyelet Outlet Antler Brads and Elf Hats. But when I was looking through my Halloween stash, I realized they'd be equally adorable dressed up to Trick-or-Treat! From left to right I've given them: Witch HatsSmall EyesMustache BradsWitch LegsMen's Hats and Eye Glass Brads

My top tip for adding brads to small fussy-cut creatures is to add the brads BEFORE you cut the critters out; that way you can use the hidden bits of cardstock as extra support! For example, I cut around these guys' HATS, rather than just their heads. I also suggest turning the brads a bit, if necessary, to hide them better behind the critters. However, if necessary, you can trim the brad legs with sturdy craft scissors. If bits of the brads can be seen through-- as in the case of the Eye Glass Brad on the Bulldog and the Mustache Brad on the Bunny-- use a pen that coordinates with your background to color the part that can be seen, so that you do not have to trim INSIDE the image to make it fit! In the case of the awesome Witch Leg Brads, they were just slightly too long for Miss Kitty, so I trimmed them with my sturdy craft scissors, and attached them to the front of the cat with gluedots.

All that was left to do is build a scene for the sweet Trick-or-Treaters to inhabit. I used patterned paper for the sky and the moon, Wide Brick Washi for the wall, Glitter Black Tape for the pavement, then filled in with PumpkinsKittens and Bat Brads to add a little more seasonal color!

if cute bunnies, cats and dogs came trick-or-treating to her house!

WITCH Way... to the Candy?

Halloween is fast approaching, but there's still plenty of time to grab some awesome Eyelet Outlet goodies to make your cards even more BOO-tiful! There is a spooktacular selection of seasonal brads in the shop, of which I (Lauren) have used only a few, including: the brand new-- and utterly awesome-- Witch Leg BradsWitch HatsMini SpidersMini Candy CornBats and Small Eye Brads.

Of course it didn't hurt that I unearthed an ancient sheet of patterned paper that had the sweet circle icons of witches, spiders and monsters, all ready for me to embellish!

But the ideas in this card would work with loads of papers and stamps. ANY small witch (or other animal, monsta or person) could wear the Hats (the packets contain all four styles); the Small Eyes have both sizes together and could be swapped out for the eyes of many stamped creatures.

In addition to the brads on my card, there are also Monsters, full-sized Spiders (to go with the Minis)Kitten Brads (they come as a mix of black and white, each in two positions) and lots more!

There are so many good Halloween choices in the Eyelet Outlet Store it's almost *SCARY*!

...does not recommend inviting Monster Brads and Kitten Brads to the same photo shoot,
especially if there are unattended Candy Corn Brads on hand!

Halloween Mini Book

Hi all Erin here.  Time for a fun Halloween mixed media mini junk book.  Filled with all kinds of layers and fun Eyelet Outlet gems, brads, and more it is a chance to play and have fun!!

Here is a video tutorial on how I constructed the book and added in all the colors with mists on each page - the bones of the book have you.  When it was done it looked like a little briefcase!

Here is what one of the pages looked like before I added in all the embellishments.

I then let it all dry and added in some fun to each page with Eyelet Outlet brads, gems, and enamel dots, plus some other fun things.
