Happy Father's Day

 It's soon Father's Day so I decided to get a few weeks ahead and get a card done for my husband. Masculine cards can be a little challenging but with EO products, it's easy breezy!

This card features Mustache, Eyeglass, and Star Brads. Black Glitter Enamel Dots help to balance the other elements. I placed them on the card but also on the vellum sentiment. The layered look is a nice effect.

Christmas Tree Wonder

 The colder temps have turned my mind to the holidays and card making for friends and families. There's nothing that says Christmas more than a tree full of holiday decorations. I made this one by cutting out the layers of the tree in smooth white cardstock. Then I colored each layer by blending a different color of green ink on it. I added red 8MM Cut Jewels, boots from the Santa Suit and Boots Brads, Snowflake Brads, Angel Brads, Sled Brads and a Star Brad for the top of the tree. 

For the background, I cut strips out of Holiday Washi Tape with a die so that every other strip was of silver glitter cardstock. I added the Christmas sentiment and three Clear Edge Bling. This is a card with lots of sparkle thanks to the gold and silver glitter cardstock of the background. It is hard to capture the beauty on camera but it's quite pretty. Happy Birthday Texas!

In honor of Texas Independence Day on March 2, I created a Texas themed banner featuring many Eyelet Outlet products. March 2nd is actually my birthday, too, but I'm not quite as old as Texas who will be celebrating 189 years!

I used a white star brad on the first pendant and our sunflower brads on the boots pendant. I was inspired to create this project by our soon-to-be-released yellow roses which I paired with a mini leaf brad, music note brad and yellow enamel heart.

I paired one of our cactus brads with a horse brad for the ranch pendant and added some heart brads for the next one. The great state of Texas is famous for our beautiful wild flowers. The flower washi tape I used on the background of the last pendant reminded me of our state flower, the bluebonnet.

Christmas Decorating

Nothing can stop our little gnome brads from decorating their tall Christmas tree! They're using a ladder I cut on my Cricut to carry the string of lights and the star to the top.

I used red, green, and clear jeweled bling for the lights and added a tree ornament on the floor near the box.  One of our gold star brads will look great as a tree topper.

Unlock Your Potential

 School bells are starting to ring and it's time to unlock those lockers and so I thought I'd share a back-to-school card with you today that I'll be sending to my granddaughter.

For this card I found an image of some lockers from CreativeClipCloud on Etsy and imported it into Cricut Design Space. I specifically wanted at least one locker door to be open so I could fill it with some Eyelet Outlet brads. I chose the books brad and a basketball brad since my granddaughter plays on her school's basketball team.  I also added a water bottle brad and a few gold stars to my sentiment.

May All Your SWISHES Come True

Here's a birthday card perfect for your basketball fan and ideal for a "March Madness" birthday.  

For this card I used a strip of Silver Foil Star Washi Tape on either side of the card base.  The basketball nets and the sentiment are Cricut images and I used a couple of our basketball brads and some white star brads to finish it off.  

I'm disappointed that I didn't come up with this design in time for my granddaughter's December birthday because she'd have loved this.  Now if I can remember I have it when her birthday rolls around again!  

 

Remembering Memorial Day

Memorial Day is more than a 3 day weekend, It is a time to reflect and honor the soldiers who died to make our freedoms possible. We recognize and honor their sacrifice and families today and everyday.

Christmas Ornaments

I've been getting ready for Christmas lately and having so much fun creating felt ornaments for my tree and incorporating Eyelet Outlet products in the designs.  

I ironed Wonder Under fusible webbing to the felt, peeled off the paper backing and then cut the pieces with my Cricut Maker and rotary blade.  I assembled the pieces and pressed with a damp pressing cloth to adhere them and then added the different Eyelet Outlet brads and sequins to the ornaments before hand stitching the rounds together, tucking a bit of batting inside before taking the final stitches.

Plus, I used it to create the focal point oval shape.  

Simply lay the washi tape down on a piece of cardstock. Then use a punch (or die) to cut out your desired shape.

Flock Stars!

Everyone knows that I (Lauren) cannot resist a diabolical pun, so when my friend and Eyelet Outlet Design Team Alumnus Stephanie Severin showed me a fun bird illustration with the phrase "Party Like a Flock Star" of course my first thought was, that it make a great card... especially  if Eyelet Outlet Flamingo Brads were the flock in question!

I had two different ideas for making this concept visual, so rather than spend time deciding between them, I just made both! For my first card, I used an ink-blended panel in bright sea and sky colors, and added a few torn strips of Glitter Gold Tape to be sand and a few torn strips of Cloud Tape up in the sky. I added a Sun and Cloud Brad, plus a Rainbow to the top right and my *flock* of Flamingo Brads at the lower left, with my sticker sentiment occupying the space between.

My second idea was much more minimal, so I even pared down the sentiment, making it into a thank you card instead of a birthday greeting. I blended a very small area of the same ink colors and used one of my nested star dies to draw a star just a bit bigger than a Flamingo Brad. Then I paired the smaller alphabet stickers with my trusty old school Dymo Labelmaker, and finally added a few Star Brads from the Red, White and Blue set.

Let's GO!

I (Lauren) am taking you on a (metaphorical) road trip today, because my Eyelet Outlet Classic Car Brads are all revved up and ready to roll!

Possibly my all-time favorite type of "found" paper is old maps. They are great in collage, they are terrific as giftwrap (the big folding ones, especially!) and they are fantastic background for a masculine card! You don't need a particularly old map, even quite recent ones can be lovely and thanks to all the GPS-users today, you can often get an armful of maps at a garage sale for a dollar or so. The other vintage ingredients I used are a few playing cards from a game called "Touring"; an incomplete set of which I was given for Christmas from someone who knows how much I love old paper, lol. As soon as I saw the road trip motif I knew they would be awesome with the Classic Car Brads and I stand by that belief! Since they were the size of standard playing cards I needed to trim them down in order to fit a few of my favorite bits onto one A2 sized card. I fussycut the traffic light and added a Compass Brad to the center circle.

I matted my trimmed-down mini cards, as well as the map panel, on cardstock I adorned with strips of Glitter Silver Tape. I ran a strip of Tire Track Washi Tape around the center of the card and at the very end I added a few Star Brads. Et voila! 

I bet you have some outdated maps and maybe even a game or two which doesn't have all its parts. I also bet you could match them to some Eyelet Outlet Brads and Washi Tape to make a beautiful and unique card for someone special! ♥

Just For *EWE*!

WARNING: the diabolical pun level of this post is VERY HIGH; pun-haters look away now!

I (Lauren) have a pair of extra-punny cards today, featuring our adorable Sheep Brads and a few other cool Eyelet Outlet goodies!

Last week I posted some Llama Brad cards that were inspired by a pair of novelty socks. Continuing in that same vein, my first Sheep Brad card was inspired by this cute pouch my sister gave me. (Because yes, there does seem to be a Pun Gene, and our family definitely has it!!!) :)

My first thought (of course!) was, "Hey! We have Sheep Brads AND Eye Glass Brads!!!" so obviously I had to use both. I created the sentiment with a mixture of stamps (spectac and lar) and alphabet stickers. My original idea for the card did not involve Star Brads, and would have had the specs right next to "you're". But because the Eye Glass Brads are open at the center, they have their prongs off at the edges, and actually need two small holes, and I didn't punch the holes precisely enough. Of course I could have started over, but at times like these, I will usually try to come up with a fix. In this case, it was to move the glasses up, and place a white star over the resultant holes; then add a couple more stars to make the placement seem more intentional. In the end, I think they look really good, and if I was going to make a second card like this, I'd plan on stars from the beginning!

The thing about puns is, it's hard to stop at just one, lol. So while I was making the "Spectac-EWE-lar" card, I kept thinking of other words with "EWE" in them. One of which was, "EWE-phoria". At first I wasn't sure how that would translate into a card, but when I was retrieving the Star Brads for the first card, I saw my Knitting Brads and thought about how much I love yarn, some of which --coincidentally-- comes from sheep. I drew the long tangly trail verrrrrrry lightly in pencil and stitched over it twice with my sewing machine. Then I added my alphabet stickers and finally set the Sheep Brad, plus two balls of blue yarn (the packs also contain yellow, purple and green) and the needles from the Knitting Brads.

Land of the Free Because of the Brave

With Memorial Day coming up, I wanted to share this patriotic card with you which would be a perfect thank you card to a veteran in your life for his or her brave service.

Eyelet Outlet has a number of patriotic themed brads and today I've used the flag brad, the brand new eagle brad, army soldier brads, and red, white and blue star brads.  The sentiment in the center of my card comes from Cricut's "Because of the Brave" image set.

To the Lighthouse

Father's Day in the US is Sunday --which arguably makes it a little late to just be starting on cards, lol-- but let's face it, sometimes it's the last minute or nothing, right? And for that matter, I (Lauren) never turn down a masculine card idea at ANY time of year, especially one that can be made by combining some of my favorite styles of Eyelet Outlet Brads!

For this not quite 6x6" card, I painted a tiny watercolor --though you could easily do this with stamps-- using some of my favorite shades of ColorBurst pigment powders, then framed it by cutting a heart-shaped hole in some sea-themed dictionary paper backed with cardstock. I attached the brads (which I'll list and link to in a minute!) to the frame, then popped the edges up around the opening using tiny slivers of foam tape. But before I started piercing a million holes in my frame, I did a "dry fit" by flattening the prongs a bit and laying the brads on to estimate how many I'd need; while also checking color, size and arrangement. Then I took a quick pic on my phone, so I'd have something to follow when I started attaching them for real. 

So which varieties did I choose? Well, I've got some very handsome Trout and Bass Brads, as well as lots of Stars in assorted colors (each pack has shiny gold, patina-ed silver and copper); Seagulls seemed like a great choice for the lighthouse theme, and of course every good sailor needs a Compass. I hadn't originally thought of using Sketched Owl Brads, but they're so lovely and the colors worked perfectly! After I assembled the main panel, I added a decorative band of Cruise Washi Tape, flanked by two strips of Brown Skinny Glitter Tape, and mounted the entire thing to a folded card in a coordinating shade of teal.

Let's Be Adventurers!

Hello friends!  Are you looking forward to the weekend?!  Summer has officially started and with school ending, that means more freedom to do more fun things!

My card for today is made with Eyelet Outlet products, and stamps purchased when I visited the new local scrapbook/stamping store in our area.  They had Eyelet Outlet products (yay!) and lots of fun stamp sets and designer papers to go with them!

The anchor and ship wheel are classic symbols of Summer!  I love how perfectly our anchor brads coordinate with the anchors in our cruise washi tape.  (There are also ship wheel brads that go perfectly with it!).  The contrast of the black and white washi looks great against this hot Summer yellow and navy color scheme.

Inside, there is another anchor to accent the sentiment...and a sprinkling of stars to help navigate the way!

The anchors and stars that I used today are the metallic ones, but they're also available in red, white and blue.  You can find those here and here!  And we have jewel star brads and sticky back enamel stars as well!  Such a wide variety really makes crafting Summer cards easy and a lot of fun!

Alien Brads: Out of This World!

Absolutely all of Eyelet Outlet's new Spring brads are awesome, in my opinion, but none are more fun than the Alien Brads, which are both adorable and otherworldly... so clearly I (Lauren) had to use them on a couple of different cards!

Scientists have recently confirmed that there *IS* life on Mars, but alas, there are no bakeries. So it turns out most of the UFO's sighted on this planet involve Little Green Men who have not enjoyed cake in far too long! 

I was happy to build these guys an appropriately-sized chocolate cupcake, then frost it with the help of two different sized cloud punches. I added a couple of Star Brads to make them feel at home. And obviously no cupcake is complete without a Cherry Brad on top!

One of my favorite ways to add a funky sentiment is with my trusty old-school label maker. In this case, I trimmed the labels down a bit, and affixed them kind of randomly, to fit the fun vibe of the card. I used another Alien Brad and the same set of supplies to create a sentiment inside, as well!

I often use funny quotes as inspiration for a card design, and I wish I could remember which comedian said, some years ago, that Area 51 didn't particularly worry him, but the thought of 50 OTHER such places made him a bit anxious! I typed the sentiment on clear labels which I affixed to a cloudy sky over a bit of patterned paper desert. Then I filled in the scene with another adorable Martian and a funky space ship made from paper, Glitter Silver Washi Tape and tiny 1/16" Mini Gold Brads.
