Christmas in July: Ho Ho Ho Edition

There's something about making holiday cards in July that helps to offset the hot and humid temps, don't you think? Eyelet Outlet's Santa and Mrs. Claus Brads are happy to celebrate all year long, and on this card they've brought along one of their Deer friends, a Santa Hat Brad and Santa Washi, with a sentiment out of Merry Christmas Tape.

Whether you're making cards for Christmas, Hanukkah, Back to School, Birthdays or "Just Because", Eyelet Outlet has all the brads, tapes, sequins, bling and paper flowers you could possibly want.

Merry Christmas Lantern

It's July and of course that gets me thinking of Christmas in July. I wanted to use the uber cute Penguin Brads and Polar Bear Brads and this seemed like a great time to pull them out even if it is 95 degrees outside right now!

I made the background using the Santa Washi Tape in strips on top of a white card base. I had a snowflake embossed vellum rectangle in my stash that I had left over from a different project and I think it's great on top of the Santa background. I die cut the lantern and glued it to the velum. The lantern was the perfect size for one of the penguins and bears. These are so cute together in this little scene!

I used my Cricut to cut the banner but I lined the white cardstock with both the Silver Star Foil Washi and the Glitter Gold Washi before I cut it. I have not done this before but it worked great. You can do the same thing with any steel dies too. I love that I can get a bit of glitter and shine without cutting into an expensive glitter or foiled cardstock. Once cut, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder.

To finish it, I layered two of our Red Paper Flowers together and put White Glitter Enamel Dots in the center to create a pointsettia look. I also used Silver Glitter Enamel Dots on the banner.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy a little Christmas this July!

Ho Ho Ho with Some Washi Tape

Can you believe it? It's almost Christmas. WOW! I'm so excited, are you? But I couldn't let this pre-Christmas day go by without one more Christmas card for 2019.

The background is made entirely with Eyelet Outlet Washi Tape:

I attached the strips of Washi Tape to a piece of sturdy white cardstock; cut it with a die and then reassembled the pieces.

A Very Washi Xmas

I (Lauren) love tape. I love wide tape and skinny tape, glitter tape and foil tape; but my favorite thing about tape is that all you need to do to make a fast, fabulous and completely custom holiday card (or two lol!) is combine a few of your favorite styles and maybe add an Eyelet Outlet Brad or some bling and you are DONE! ♥

This week I am crushing on the new wide Santa Washi Tape which comes in two colorways. My first card features what I'd call the default style, with a sort of winter sunset background. I flanked it with Skinny Star Tape and Blue Marble Tape, then added a bunch of fancy new Snowflake Bling. The sentiment is a single repeat from our Merry Christmas Tape, trimmed into a little flag and matted on a scrap of red cardstock.

We also have Santa Washi in Green, the green being a reference to the pistachio background behind The Big Guy. In this version, I built a sort of chimney from wide Brick Washi, and let Santa emerge from the top of it. I added a row of Poinsettia Brads for extra texture and once again my sentiment is a one specific section of Christmas Tape. You'll notice that both cards are built atop a simple graph design, which is partly because I like that sort of paper but also... if you're going to apply a bunch of washi tape and don't love measuring, a patterned paper with a strong straight horizontal line is *very* helpful!

If you need to make a bunch of cards, but don't love "mass producing" why not gather up all your tapes and see how many uniquely beautiful backgrounds you can make?

Christmas Crafts

Kim from Katydid Cards here.  I've shown you a number of Christmas cards featuring Eyelet Outlet, so I thought I would make a few Christmas crafts as well.

First up is a 3D winter scene gift card bag which has been modified from the original cut file purchased in the Silhouette store.  The changes enabled me to use some of the many brads from Eyelet Outlet.  Here I'm using the Sun & Cloud, Pine Tree, Snowman, and Sled brads.

Here's a closer look.  The "layers" in the bag start with the acetate window then the snowy hills and finally the sky.  Behind the blue panel, there's space for the gift card.

Next, is a cute little holder for hand sanitizer...except, in this case, it's Santa-tizer.  I used the new Santa Brad as well as two Red Round Brads and the new Santa Washi Tape.

Here's a view from the side.

And here's the holder, open.  I used a Red Stripe Washi Tape for the inside panels.

The entire Eyelet Outlet design team has outdone themselves with holiday inspiration!  I hope you have enjoyed our projects as much as we enjoyed sharing them with you!

Death Before Decaf!

It's that wonderful time of year once again: by which I (Lauren) mean both the holiday season AND the winter Coffee Lovers' Blog Hop! Thus I decided to make some giftcard holders that combine my love of coffee, holiday cardmaking and Eyelet Outlet Coffee Brads and Coffee Stamps!

I made a very simple folder; it's just a piece of 3.5 x 8.5" kraft cardstock scored at the 2.5 and 6.5" point, to create a little pocket inside which can hold a giftcard OR a check, money, a little note, even some small photos. You could make these out of double sided patterned paper to save having to trim little panels to decorate the outside, but I always seem to have loads of little patterned paper off-cuts and this is a great way to use them up!

Once I'd covered the pocket, top flap and back panel with cardstock, it was time for the fun part: decorating! I covered a small scrap of white cardstock with Eyelet Outlet Merry Christmas Tape and diecut it into a heart which is slightly narrower than the top flap, but hangs down a bit over the pocket area. This hides the place where I secured seambinding to the front, but still leaves room for the bow that literally ties the whole thing together. I used my Stephanie Barnard dies to create the coffee cup out of lighter kraft and the lid and front panel from this fun argyle-inspired Christmas Pattern Washi. I added a green Paper Flower, anchored with a Wreath Brad, decorated with some tiny red Pearl Bling berries.

In the second version, I decided to get a bit more coffee-centric, so I stamped the coffee bean from our Coffee Stamp Set in an all-over pattern and used a brown Tombow with a water brush to add color. This time my diecut heart has vertical-oriented Red Tree Washi and the cup is adorned with Santa Tape flanked by Skinny Stripes. And to hold on the flowers, one those awesome beans from the Coffee Brad Set which also contains both red and white coffee cups!

Be sure to hop over and see all the amazing cards at the Coffee Lovers' Blog Hop, and leave a little love for Amy Tsuruta and the other Coffee Elves who are working so hard behind the scenes at these events! ♥♥♥

Dashing Through the Snow

Have you ever been dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh?  If so, I, Kim of Katydid Cards, envy you the experience.  This card is about as close as I'll ever get!

The card components were purchased in the Silhouette store and I thought they would make a great backdrop for the brads I used.  The new Sleigh brad is just the right size for the Horse and the Snowman and Pine Trees complete the scene.  The Oval Bling, colored in the center with a Copic marker, sets the greeting off nicely.

Seems I forgot to take a picture of the sentiment inside, but I used another line from the song.  "What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight."

And I have one last Christmas card to share with you.  It's an Eclipse card using the new Santa Washi Tape as well as the new Santa and Sleigh brads and the ever popular Snowflake brad.

As an accent across the bottom, I used Jewel Bling Strip on Skinny Gold Glitter Washi Tape.

On Friday I'll be sharing a few Christmas crafts with you so I hope you'll come back and visit.  Of all the Eyelet Outlet cards I made this year, this is my favorite.

Christmas Washi Tags

Hi Friends! kel here again today to share another fun project with you!!

Today's project is a set of monogrammed Christmas gift tags featuring some of the super cute washi tape in the Eyelet Outlet store! And yes, I know it's February, and Christmas is waaaaay off, but it's never too early to start stocking up on either Christmas crafting supplies or Christmas tags and cards so you're ready to go once the season hits!!

For these tags, I laid out strips of the Santa Washi, Tree Washi, Ho Ho Ho Washi, Holly Washi, and ZigZag Washi in Red on a scrap piece of white cardstock that measured 2" wide. Then I cut the tags down to 3.5" tall and then punched the scalloped tag top and threaded some red twine.

I used the initials of my oldest son's good friends (and they're common enough that I can use them for other people if we end up getting his friends something that doesn't need a tag!)

Super easy peasy and a great way to use up both scrap paper and a handful of rolls of washi tape that I know everyone is stashing in their craft supplies haha!! Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon!!

Very Merry Monograms

If you're anything like me (Lauren) the week before Christmas is all about getting those holiday presents wrapped and delivered, either in person or via the mail. Here's a fast and easy idea for personalized gift bags, and best of all, it uses something I know you already have in your crafty stash: gorgeous Eyelet Outlet Holiday Washi Tape!

Customized monograms are simple to make, thanks to the fact that our computers come loaded with beautiful fonts. Having measured the front of my plain white, medium-sized, big-box-store gift bags, I knew my oversized initials needed to be just under 8" tall, and no more than 6" wide. Since these bags are for two of my favorite kids, Carlos and Isabel, I tried a few different styles before settling on a free font called Vexler Slip. I gave the letters a medium thick outline in black, but no fill color, so that when I printed them on plain white cardstock, I could apply the washi tape directly on top of the outlines, and still see exactly where to cut out when I was done! Then came the fun part: playing with all my pretty red and green tapes!

I decided to start in the middle of each letter and work towards the top and the bottom in a sort of mirror image arrangement, but honestly there is no bad way to do this and neither precision nor a plan is needed! In fact, this would be a great project for the kiddo's to do: let them go wild adding as many (or few) different styles of tape, in whatever order or pattern they like, until the entire monogram is completely covered with washi.

There's really only one absolutely necessary step, that comes when all of your tapes are on, but before you cut the letter out: be sure to burnish the tapes really well, to make sure every single one is firmly stuck down. You can use a bonefolder for this, or I use the hard plastic handle of my scissors. Then it's time to cut neatly around the outlines, which, as you can see, are still perfectly visible through the tape. Et voila! Fancy holiday monograms that can decorate a card, a package, or even be strung together to spell out a holiday greeting!

I've used mine, as we know, on a pair of gift bags for my young friends. You can seriously use ANY combination of tapes for a project like this, but in this case my letter C features: super-cute Green Santa TapeHolly TapeSkinny Merry ChristmasSolid Skinny Bright and Pastel Green; while the design behind the letter on Carlos' bag also has: Skinny Gold DotsRed Dots, and Vertical Red Trees

Remember to look at all your tapes in the planning stages; I've got quite a few non-holiday reds, greens, pinks and even gold mixed in with my more specifically Christmassy patterns. Basic designs like dots, stripes and solids really do go with everything. On Isabel's initial and bag, I used: Santa Washi TapeRed DotsMerry ChristmasSkinny Pink TapeWide Tree Tape, and Season's Greetings.

Of course good design is important, but really... EVERY gift that's given with love looks beautiful under the Christmas tree, doesn't it?

Wishing the happiest and most joyful of holidays to you and your family! ♥♥♥

From the North Pole!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and that means that Santa will soon be making his holiday debut!  Letters are gonna be flying to the North Pole, and Santa might just answer a few himself!  Eyelet Outlet has so many cute brads and washi tapes to dress those letters in style!

For this project Santa Mail washi tapeSanta washi tape, and skinny washi tape are a fast and easy way to establish the themed background for an envelope and mailbox from our mail brads set.  Sticky back pearl hearts accent the scalloped edge of a strip of designer paper.

Inside another pearl heart sits beside the sentiment.

It is exciting to make a wishlist to send to Santa and a real thrill to get a card SWAK from Santa in return!  A fast, fun project with lasting memories!  A quick search for Christmas and/or Santa will turn up all kinds of ideas!  Time to get busy!

Enjoy your weekend!

One Card Three Ways: Christmas Ornament Edition

Hi folks, it's Lauren here again. I'm starting to really think about Christmas and feeling pretty excited about finishing up my cards. I know most cardmakers like to mass-produce one holiday design, but I don't enjoy that so much. Something I don't mind, though, is making a couple of different versions of the same card. So today I have a set of ornaments that represent my three favorite categories of Eyelet Outlet products: BradsBling and Washi Tape!

For my Bling card I used some papers I had pre-painted with ColorBurst pigment powders, and used stencils with inks and embossing paste on top. I created the bauble shapes using some hand-cut ornament templates I made for myself a few years ago, but there are plenty of beautiful dies available to shortcut that procedure for you. I wanted to work in as many bling varieties as possible, so I've got Clear Edge JewelsSquare JewelsSingle JewelsSingle PearlsHeart Pearls and I've even used a bit of the new Fancy Long Bling on the round bauble, which I arranged as a mirror-image, then placed a few extra large Pearl Bling Jewels inside the openings created by the zig zag design. I made the tops of the ornaments from Glitter Silver Tape and constructed my own patterned paper by filling an A2-sized inset panel with Music Note Washi.

For my Brads card I pieced the ornaments from a neutral palette so the Christmas CookiesPoinsettia and Prancing Deer would stand out really well. I made the tops of the baubles from Glitter Gold Tape this time, to fit the color scheme better.

For the Tape card I chose bright shades of traditional red and green. I covered the bauble shapes with tape, then burnished well and trimmed them neatly. I used Holly Tape (with a small Paper Flower and Enamel Dot) for the heart ornament; Red Dots with an accent of Vertical Red Tree Tape for the elongated shape and highlighted strips of Merry Christmas Tape with an accent of that cute green Santa Tape sandwiched by Skinny Stripes Tape for the round shape.

Whether you like to make your holiday cards singly, all at once, or somewhere in between, I guarantee Eyelet Outlet has all kinds of embellishments that will make your job easier... and much more fun, too! ♥
