Twinkling Christmas Cheer

Hello Crafty Friends - Today I am sharing a gift bag decorated with Eyelet Outlet's pearl bling strips white, holiday light brads, and metallic eyelet mix.  Eyelet Outlet embellishments can be used to elevate gift giving by decorating gift bags, tags, and gift card packaging.

I used a gift bag die to create the bag and added the pearl bling strip to mimic the light strand.  The light brads on the pearl strip remind me of the outdoor lights on houses.  Something about those lights make the season feel bright and full of wonder.  The eyelets elevate the bag and provide stability for the ribbon handles.

There is something magical about Christmas lights, especially a strand of retro lights, reminds me of  childhood Christmas decorations. Thank you for visiting the blog today.  I hope this inspires you to create a gift bag for someone special using Eyelet Outlet products.  Please visit Eyelet Outlet for creative supplies and inspiration.

I Fought The Lights

I for one am thankful for my artificial pre-lit Christmas tree because before that marvelous invention, when I fought the lights, the lights always won!

I used Eyelet Outlet's popular Holiday lights brads in this card as well as some fun images from the Cricut image library. Don't you just love that deer all tangled up in lights?

I created this card in Cricut Design Space with a bit of slicing, welding, and print-then-cut.  If you're a Cricut crafter, too, and would like to make this card, I have shared the file on my Cricut profile with the Cricut community within Design Space.

This Christmas Card Pops!

Do you give a lot of gift cards over the holidays?  I know I do so I wanted to make a cute Christmas card that is also a gift card holder and after adding some embellishments from Eyelet Outlet, they are just extra special now.

The front of the card is made with quite a few EO embellishments.  The background is Green Glitter Washi Tape with Silver Blocks Glitter Washi Tape layered on top.  That is where I built the Christmas scene.  The felt Rudolph is wearing an adorable Santa Hat Brad and has several Brown Jewels as little spots on his back.  He also has a cute Black Pearl eye and of course, a large Red Cut Jewel Bling for his nose.

The large felt present is surrounded by many little presents to include three Gift Brads right up front.

It wouldn’t be a prefect Christmas scene without some snow, right? I added some 3-D snow on the bottom and some beautiful Snowflake Brads falling from the sky.

Once you open the card, a cute gift bag pops up where you can place a gift card!

On the left side of the card, I embossed a Christmas tree and added two of the large Red Jewel Bling for sparkle.

The right side has the Ho Ho Washi Tape lining the top and bottom along with four of the Holiday Light Brads in each corner. To finish off the inside, I added a simple Merry Christmas sticker sentiment and added several of the Red Jewel Bling as the holly berries.

Thanks to all the easy extras I added to this card, I think anyone would just love to get it…even without a gift card…lol

Ugly Sweater Party

We call them "ugly" but there is something totally fun and festive about Holiday Sweaters, especially in card form; and Instant Holiday Sweater Awesomeness can be achieved just by adding Eyelet Outlet Holiday Brads!

These particular sweaters are fussy-cut from a Photoplay patterned paper, but this idea would work with any sweater-shaped stamps, dies or SVG files; or swap for t-shirts if you live in a warmer climate! I chose to make mini-slimline cards with three sweaters across, but again, you could make a grid with LOTS of sweaters, or go clean-and-simple and add just a single one to each card.

My first card features a Candy Cane Brad, a Holiday Light and a Pine Tree; the latter makes another appearance on card #2, along with a Snowflake and an (on sale!Ornament Brad.

The third card sports a Bell Brad (also on sale!) a handsome Snowman and one of this year's brand new styles a Gift Brad.

There are lots more fun holiday brad styles in the Eyelet Outlet store, why not hop over and take a peek!

Tropical Christmas Tree

Not all Christmas' have snow. This tropical Christmas card has me thinking of warm breezes and sand between my toes.

This A2 sized card was created using cardstock from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Christmas pad. The palm tree was cut on my Cricut with a free file from Printable Cuttable Creatables called Christmas Palm Tree. I cut all the pieces out and put two slits in the sand piece and inserted the bottles from the Beer Brad set. Then I covered the sand piece with embossing ink and heat embossed it with Sand powder from Hero Arts. Then I glued everything down on the back ground and inserted the Holiday Light brads. I also used a Holly brad near the coconuts. I printed the sentiment on photo paper, cut and matted it on matching cardstock.

I was inspired to do this card by the Corona beer commercial where it's a dark night and you hear a guy whistling Oh Christmas Tree. Then suddenly a single lighted palm tree brightens the picture. I love that commercial and the beer isn't too bad either! LOL!

The inside sentiment continues the "warm" vibe. I colored this with Wink of Stella Fine Glitter Pens.

After doing many traditional Christmas cards, this one was a breath of fresh air. I hope it took you on a quick magical trip to the tropics too!

Today's card entitled, "JOY", is designed not only to bring a smile to your face during this holiday season, but can also be a card that uses up leftover supplies!

The JOY sentiment uses the Eyelet Outlet Gold Glitter Washi Tape and the Diamond Press JOY die.  Next is the pleasant discovery of leftover Christmas paper scraps:  flocked holly paper along with green embossed suede paper.  The last supply search is checking out the Eyelet Outlet holiday brads (listed below) I had available; there were only one of some and only a small quantity of others.

It is now time for the card assembly.  Some Brads are placed on the JOY sentiment while others lined up on either side of the sentiment.  The Red Glitter Washi Tape is cut in half and placed at the top and bottom of the middle green strip.

Take a moment to visit the Eyelet Outlet site and explore all of the brads, bling, and more and determine what items you can use on your JOY card!

Eyelet Outlet Supplies Used:

Gingerbread Brad, Snowman Couple Brad, Red Glitter Washi Tape, Nutcracker Brad, Santa Hat Brad, Holiday Light Brad, Pine Tree Brad, and Holly Brad.

My Favorite Color is Christmas Lights!

My granddaughter used to say that her favorite color was rainbow and I totally get that!  It's hard to narrow down a single color that is my favorite and my husband and I are both in the camp that prefers all colored lights on the Christmas tree!

When I saw this cute file on the Cricut "Eat, Drink & be Merry" image set, I knew it was for us!  And I also knew that Eyelet Outlet Holiday Light Brads were going to be a part of the project!

I used the reverse canvas technique on this and HTV with my Cricut Easy Press.  I love the way the brads add to the 3-D effect of this little art piece.  Brads aren't just for paper crafting!  :)

Thanks for stopping in today and have a wonderful holiday with those you love!

Christmas Leftovers

Don't put away your favorite Eyelet Outlet holiday brads just yet, because they have one more important job to do. Hi folks, it's Lauren here, and if, like me, you had a wonderful Christmas yesterday, you might like to say so to your friends and family, so why not use those last few brads in the packet to make some quick and easy thank you notes?

Holiday Light Brads really don't need much more than a string to anchor them. Mine happens to be machine stitched and a bit curly, but yours could be long or short, straight or curvy! Just lightly mark their path with a pencil, then draw, stamp or sew your string base. Add a sentiment et voila! One fun and fab mail-able card is DONE!

Ornament Brads are another fun and choice and all they need is something on which to hang. Again, my trusty sewing machine came to the rescue: I stitched five cords of various lengths and added a brad to the end of each. Alternatively, you could make hangers from twine or ribbon, or add  simple hand stitching with embroidery floss.

And now all that's left is for me to THANK YOU for dropping by, because I happen to know there's a different kind of Christmas leftovers awaiting me... in the fridge! ♥♥♥

can never resist a Christmas cookie or two,
especially the ones made by her niece, Lindsay Marie!

Fair Warning!

Hi folks, Lauren here, with a special public service announcement: It turns out making altered rolodex cards with holiday artist trading coins on top is slightly (ok, a LOT!) addictive. On the plus side, this a super fun, super flexible --and, perhaps most importantly--  super FAST way to create with your favorite Eyelet Outlet brads and washi tape. And of course, this idea would work equally well as package tags, gift certificate holders, small cards, tiny bags or boxes... well, let's face it, a week before Christmas, the prospect of being able to make a whole bunch of useful holiday items is *not* to be sneezed at! So here are a few more ideas for you:

I will mention all the specific products in a minute, but probably the most important thing to tell you is the basic "recipe". I made the artist trading coins first. I started with 2.5" circles cut from scraps of patterned paper. Then I inset circles cut with the next smallest size of my nested circle dies. Then I added two or three holiday-themed brads to each coin. Of course, the rolodex card format could easily be discarded in favor of tags, or A2 cards, but in any case, there's a formula for your "base" as well: a neutral paper (or papers, plural) with strips of holiday tape on top. I like to combine 5/8" tapes with skinny ones, but if all of your washi is the same width, you can get the feeling of variety by adding multiple strips of some tapes and overlapping others. I chose combinations of tape that coordinated with the colors in my coins, paired up each set, and that's IT! Instant holiday festiveness!

Here are the brads and tapes I used on each card, working from the top left of the photo above: Skate Brads, Snowflake Brad, Green Filigree Tape, Silver Skinny Glitter Tape; Pinecone Brads, Poinsettia Brad, Pine Tree Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment; Sleigh Brad, Prancing Deer Brad, Merry Christmas Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment; Holiday Tree Brads, Snowman Brad, Green Filigree Tape, Skinny Metallic Tape, Green Dot Tape. And now, starting at the top left of the photo below: Holiday Tree Brads, Snowman Brad, Green Dot Tape, Wide Tree Washi, Skinny Green Stripe, Skinny Holiday Assortment; Holiday Mitten Brads, Candy Cane Brad, Red Tree Tape, Skinny Green Stripe Washi; Elf Brads, Ho Ho Ho Tape, Red and Green Dot Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment, Skinny Green Tape; Holiday Light Brads, Deer Tape, Skinny Holiday Assortment.

I hope you will be inspired to borrow this "recipe"... or create your own! It really is a fun and fast way to get LOTS of holiday greetings done, with ZERO stress involved! ♥

wishes you the happiest of holiday seasons!

Deck the Halls

It's Kim from Katydid Cards.

It's time to deck the halls if you're into decorating for the holidays.  These days, this is an easier way for me to decorate...on a card!  While I'd like to say, "and there's no clean-up" the truth is I make quite the mess when I make cards.  I have all sorts of supplies and tools scattered everywhere and tend to work in only a square foot of open space.

This card showcases a number of Eyelet Outlet brads including the Holly, Wreath and Holiday Light.  Also used are the Hardwood and Gold Foil Washi Tape and Red Jewel Bling Strips. The tree's topper is the Glitter Enamel Star.

I cut the stair steps from a Stampin' Up die.  I cut it a second time after placing the Hardwood Washi Tape to it and cut the base from the posts.   I topped the stairs with the Holly and added the Wreath which I further adorned with smaller Jewel Bling.  Here's another picture of the card, slightly opened.

And here is the card, fully opened.  An accent table, also covered in Hardwood Washi Tape hosts an arrangement of Poinsettia brads.

So this card is all about the inside of the house.  Did you happen to catch my Rooftop cards? If not, you can take a peek here.

Merry and Bright (...times two...)

December first is fassssssssst approaching, which means it's time to get *SERIOUS* about making our holiday cards. Stephanie and I (Lauren) work on ours all year round, via Jingle Belles, but I nearly always find I need a few more right at the end, which is why I'm so glad to have a stash of Christmassy Eyelet Outlet goodies, like these awesome Holiday Light Brads!

There are probably a gazzillion great ways to use these, but I'll confine myself to just two... for now. My first thought was a strand of Xmas lights, in a tumble, with a swirly cord. Since I had to do the machine stitching before I set the brads, I not only dry fit where I thought I'd want each bulb to go, I also drew, very lightly in pencil, the path I thought the swirl should take.

After I was done the decorative sewing, I set the brads, attached my sticker sentiment with foam tape, and went back to attach the panel to my 6x6" card. I used white thread this time, instead of black, so the strand of lights would get more attention than the perimeter of the card.

My second idea was to attach the Holiday Lights where they most naturally belonged: on evergreen branches! My first set were diecut from some realistic-looking pine-green cardstock. Which, oddly enough, turned out to be exactly the wrong color choice, since the bulbs didn't stand out nearly as much as I expected. So I went back and this time chose a pale green shade with a very faint abstract pattern, which looks NOTHING like an actual Christmas tree, but showed off the brads to much better advantage.

Attaching the foliage to my A2 card, I applied adhesive only to the stems of the diecuts, leaving the pine needles a bit loose, so I could curl them up for more dimension. Because, of course, I knew that when I set the brads on top of the foliage, they would act as a second attachment for the diecuts.

Now that the thoughts of brightly lit branches are in my head, I'm excited to go to the Christmas tree farm next Sunday! But first, maybe I'll make a few more cards... ♥
